Guys, I've got to say how impressed I am by this show. You know it clocks in at 200 pdf pages. We're talking about a short novel of fantastic work.

I really look forward to this time around in the AWA. Amazing.

First Dave Cooper callls Maximus fat during the World Title tournament, now Larry Doyle calls the MAMMOTHs a couple of fat slobs, and, yet, Blue won't allow Gordon Myers to even suggest that maybe they should send the Prehistoric Predators after Royalty.

- How was my Larry Doyle? I'm trying to go for somewhere in the middle of the previous two. And seeing as how literally half of my iPod is filled up with Jim Cornette shoots/interviews (my soundtrack to walking in the summer!) it's a gas to get my Jim Cornette on.

To me, it screamed Bobby Heenan and I mean that in a great way. I'm not as read up on previous Doyle incarnations as others so I can't really compare the two but the vibe and feel I got just felt like "The Brain" in full throttle. From the way he spoke about Stanton/Jacobs, to the way he referenced to himself in third person, and the metaphors and innuendos that were used. It was very well done to me. The one negative thing, if any, I could even say is I didn't like Kendall being referenced too as "Kenny". These guys are supposed to be Doyle's muscle/head hunters, Kendall sounds tougher and I like the ring of it more.

Nah. Stanton started as enhancement talent who got moved up to the main roster, and developed, in theory, into a Brian Pillman/Barry Windham like talent. Jacobs is the tough guy, Stanton is the pretty boy.

The original Bombers were strict Midnight homages, while I think the NEW Bombers are more in the vein of the Hart Foundation or the severely underrated Power and Glory.

Some thoughts about the show:

* Agree with what everyone has said about The Bullies. And while we all know who is going to be Hayes and who is going to be Gordy (and they both fit the roles well), I want to see if Hyatt can pull off Buddy Roberts, who was a master at playing the role of "he's not as tough as he thinks he is, but he's tougher than the average fan will admit he is."

* TS3 has really been good thus far. I just wonder how many more ways he can keep putting off the inevitable blowoff match with Hannibal Carver.

* I did see the Vasquez split with the Unholy Alliance warming up, but the build to it was excellent and that's what really matters.

* Do we seem to have a lot of stable wars developing? You have Lynches vs. Bullies, Unholy Alliance vs. Stevie/Juan (and I assume BVB and SDW get dragged in eventualy), Royalty vs. Sharif/whoever and TS3 and company vs. Carver/whoever.

And... do I smell a classic Survivor Series type show in the works?

* On the Royalty promo, yeah, it did go long, but with Cooper, I wanted to get the explanation for why Petrow got replaced with Doyle and, of course, Doyle had to put over the new Bombers. The line about Langseth was one I added because I realized it would be remiss not to mention it. So I tried to be as precise as I could with Cooper.

But, then again, I couldn't resist the "you know something" line, especially since Royalty is supposed to have elements of nWo mixed in (technically, a mix of nWo and Dangerous Alliance, though I will say I don't want them going overboard with attacks, but to keep them focused).

* Agreed it may be time for a tag title switch, but the only problem: The hotter teams right now are heels and the Bishops work better as heels. I know nobody likes the idea of "transitional champs" in e-w but that may be for the best.

I noticed VU wasn't on the roster in the latest updated. Did they get "future endeavored" and I missed it?

Or did they just job to the update?

Hrm. I want to give a meaty reaction here, but I haven't time to look back at it all. I did get a good read in during my sick day, though. I'll comment on as much as I recall offhand.

Overall it was very good. I have already mentioned that I didn't like the world title match going so early, as if it were an undercard thing. However, that's not a strong feeling, just a mild annoyance.

I like Terry Shane III. I think his stuff ran a bit long, though. This from somebody who notoriously runs long! Carver's explanation of why he's adjusted to the AWA was very sensible. I like when things have reasons and aren't just handwaved.

So, in the same vein, Rick Marley's explanation made sense. I think his promos are better as a heel.

The Samoans are lost in the shuffle. They need a feud STAT. Not enough face teams ATM. I am starting to feel like we're shifting The Rave in the wrong direction.

The MAMMOTHS will also be lost in the shuffle if they go tags, but it seems like Ridzal has stated he prefers they be solo. Might be a better idea post-SC.

The Beale Street Bullies were good, but certainly didn't feel like Freebirds to me. Which is perfectly fine, as long as they feel like the Beale Street Bullies (if you understand what I mean). As long as they have their own identity.

Sharif will be feuding with every heel in the AWA by March.

Re: Larry Doyle. I want to make another heel just so he can manage him. :-D

Is Moze writing for Character!Blue? That's very bizarre in a meta context. I mean, if I saw somebody else RPing me as a character, I dunno what I would think about that.

Is Shadoe Rage going to take over as the Savage homage, since he's been doing that for fifteen years now? Shouldn't we bring back Scotty Mayhem so they can feud for it? Winner gets a Slim Jim endorsement deal! Loser has to wheel around Character!Joe Petrow's wheelchair for a month.

Is Manny Imbrogno doing a steroids angle? Wha? In any event, the concept of PN News-Lanny Poffo as a tag team is gold. Tell me this is being legit handled and not JTTSed. There's your Samoans feud right there.

So, is Eric Preston going to wrestle to take on Supreme Wright? More likely, he won't wrestle and will string Wright along. That could be fun if he has enough catspaws to throw in Wright's way.

MIA: Violence Unlimited (we give Terry crap, but this is still my favorite team in the AWA), Langseth, Alphonse Green, RyGunn, A-Mart, and others

I don't know if they CAN feel a lot like the Freebirds because two of the three are very established characters that have never fit the Freebirds' mold. So while their group will certainly tribute the 'Birds, and the feud with the Lynches the legendary 'Birds/Von Erichs feud, don't expect them to feel a ton like the 'Birds. More like a new version of the BSB with some 'Birds tendencies added in, especially in the early going.

IMHO, live action should always trump a taped match. I figure that, had Nenshou won the title on New Years Eve, it would have been all over the interwebs. So the match outcome was never in doubt, which would have made that an anticlimactic way to end the show.

I was hoping that someone would ask about that. :)

That was a homage to a Lanny Poffo shoot interview where he talks about his one year taking steroids, and how it not-so-coincidentally coincided with his brush with the main event scene.

(Protip: Use the "You Write The Matches!" shows to sneak things past an exhausted Chris Blue!)

It was mainly to provide cover for the double airplane spin spot, but I've no objection if someone else wants to run with it.

I threw together BCIQ and The Northern Lights in case Blue needed filler teams for the Cup (I also snuck in a reference to one more if it's really, really necessary.) I'd love to see Joe run with BCIQ, but they're all there for the taking if anyone wants 'em.

I'm only here to tease people now. ;)
