Reading old posts on Google groups. Someone refresh my memory. What was the reason behind the EMWC shooting on NEW on that card? What happened to Mike, Buse, and the rest in NEW?

IIRC, Mike and Buse had some goofy things happen to their characters all around the same time in NEW.

Courtade lost the NEW world title in some weird match that involved him falling off a pier and getting hypothermia.

Devon Case I think, was in an angle against a "Masked Outlaw" and everyone thought he would be feuding with JW Hardin. Only, Hardin's handler swerved him and he ended up feuding with Hardin's "protege" instead.

The rest of the guys...I dunno.

Either way, I'm pretty glad the era of shoots and breaking e-kayfabe is pretty much dead.

And one more thing!

The Shooting Gallery was the same card that Devon Case did a 900 splash.

It's only dead because Blue doesn't let me do it. :crying:

We were getting too big for our britches so the big boys put us back in our place. :)

All I remember is whatever website Bren was running (I'm pretty sure it was Bren's deal) that had the rankings almost had NEW ranked above EMWC one week and man, was that a big deal for us and we took it way too seriously.

Though the idea of NEW was to have four of us running it together it ended up being Joe Birmingham and I carrying the load, with Joe doing the booking/angles side and me handling the cards and keeping everything on schedule. IIRC, Buse and Joe were starting to get annoyed with each other for some reason, though I don't remember the specifics.

Case was not ever set up to feud with Hardin directly; (though the angle certainly made it seem that way) his handler didn't want to bring Hardin in the fed but we'd take any character he wanted to bring in, so he went with the whole protege angle.

But I think Buse was pissed about Courtade dropping the match (I don't remember the reasoning behind the whole pier thing, either, but when Joe wrote it and explained it to me it made sense at the time) and Case wasn't getting much of a push either (I admittedly was never a huge, huge fan of either character) and then they bailed and Joe disappeared on me and down went the ship from there. I think I should've taken a more active position on bookings and the like, but that wasn't really my forte. I just aligned text and put cards together like a mother. I think it would've been smarter to work endings of feuds out with people ahead of time so nobody got surprised/pissed about their characters on shows. Ah well, live and learn. It was fun while it lasted, though.

Better than when I ran GLOW, at least (not even knowing that there was a real organization called Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling  ).

Well, you weren't alone. You had people you could have leaned on. Me for instance. Granted I wasn't as comfortable with the big name characters like Courtade and Case as you were but I did what I could with the guys in my camp. Problem with that was since you and Joe knew the roster best, I couldn't answer the questions my guys had as well you two could. So that probably didn't help us as far as feeling organized went. Still you're right. Shooting Gallery stomachache aside, NEW was a good time and I miss those days too.

I miss NEW. That was an awesome time. 8 months in a fed, on every card but only only showed of 1 wrestling move... Maxwell Creed... He was a fun one...

Maxwell Creed was awesome. I enjoyed my time in NEW with Funk being the DOPE WUSSY. Even found the "Damn It Feels Good to be a WUSSY" video package I wrote.

I miss the original N.E.W, before the whole DBBWF angle came and irreparably ruined the fed.

The reboot wasn't bad, but the pre-DBBWF original is still a sentimental favorite of mine.

You mean Chris Buse cried over losing an e-wrestling match? I am utterly shocked! :o

I agree. Those days of NEW were undeniably the best. My character unfortunately was involved in the debacle that was the DBBWF angle.

Well, it wasn't exactly a swerve since it was very clear from the gates (to those of us running the show) that he had no intention of bringing in Hardin. I'm pretty sure we made this known to the parties involved as well.

Ok, I wanted to respond to this topic with some actual insight. Problem is.... I can't recall any actual particulars of what went down in NEW that led to a bad decision in EMWC. Yes, a bad decision. Looking back on it, an e-w shoot about other feds/handlers/etc is basically the equivalent of people talking big on the internet because they know no repercussions will happen in real life. It's basically e-beer muscles.

Regardless of who did what, what did happen or what was supposed to happen, the point that should have come out of the Shooting Gallery was: this is ridiculous, never do this again.

Alas, the fickle days of e-wrestling have long gone. Or have they? Not been around in years. Hopefully with age for most of us "old-timers" comes wisdom and common sense. Something many of us lacked 10+ years ago.
