1. What is SWL?
———————————————

a. In Character

SWL launched by Doc Brown in March 2013 and started broadcasting on KDC-77. After a brutal attack by Madhu Karna on Negro Tapia with a spike during the first episode. KDC-77 were unhappy this was broadcast and cancelled the SWL: DYNAMITE TV contract after four episodes.

A bitter six month legal battle ensued, which was finally settled out of court in November. 24 hours later Doc Brown sold 99% of his shares in SWL, the majority going to the Valentine Family, the owners of the popular Mid-Atlantic Wrestling promotion. The remaining shares were sold to North Carolina company Henry Lane Retail Limited.

Wilbur Courtney was named Match Maker by the Valentine family who were keen for the SWL to continue running independently.

b. Out of Character

SWL is a small fed with big ambitions, over the years there have been many that have popped up, especially after the closure of WCW and ECW, think of the likes of MLW, WWA and who can remember MECW? They start off as the indy darling company with a big wedge of cash at day one and six months later its been blown on all the wrong things. As well as the feuds the characters are involved in, the company has a whole will have an ever changing storyline, whether it be selling out small venues, loosing loads of cash on booking venues that aren’t full or loosing/gaining syndicated TV.

The aim is to run small shows in a fast paced, modern episodic format. I want it to be laid back, people have less time than ever. I used to love reading long detailed show with main event that were 7,000 words and went on for pages, but unfortunately time have changed. Results will be wrote in a shorter format, I will though promise to put as much effort into the shows as the handlers do into their combined role-plays, I think that is only fair.

I’m only looking for one role-play per show (unless it’s a supercard), you can write them however you want, in whatever style you want. Just jot it down in an email and send it to me, I’ll then smash them all out in a ‘hosted magazine’ style show.

I am also allowing people to role-play in the form of a writing a squash match. To do this, drop me an email before the line-up for the next show is released, you can then write the squash (using a wrestler from our Enhancement Talent list) and allow the commentators to further develop your character for you.

How will SWL be different? The best time I’ve had in e-wrestling was in the late 90′s, early 2000′s. I liked receiving a roleplay/flash packet in my email, I didn’t have to sign up to boards, check a website for updates, think about posers or pic bases. This fed in many ways will be bare-bones. I’ll be posting updates and the shows on our blog, but the majority will come through your email. With a show every couple of weeks, I’m only really after 1 rp every 14 days, surely something most people can commit to.

2. Who Runs SWL?
———————————————

a. In Character

After Doc Brown sold 99% of his shares, the Valentine Family (mainly Tom) own the majority share, the rest being owned by a local retail operation.

Tom Valentine will spend most of his time running the family promotion Mid-Atlantic Wrestling and has appointed Wilbur Courtney has Match Maker, although he will be involved form time to time.

b. Out of Character

I’m Chris, I played between 1997 and 2004. I got back into things in 2011 on and off, I’ve struggled to find a fed that has captured my imagination. I was on the roster in X80D, KAWF, TCW, IWO and many others. You can contact me by mailing SWLeague@aol.com

———————————————
3. Schedule and Shows
———————————————

Since the cancellation of DYNAMITE TV, the SWL has no broadcast television outlet. While the Valentine Family are looking to finalise a deal, SWL will run House Shows and film events for highlight shows to be broadcast on their YouTube channel.

SWL-Tube: Highlights and occasional matches from SWL live events. The production values aren't great, but its better than nothing. Pretty much everything of any importance will happen on this show.

House Shows – If I’m bored or sat on the toilet I might bash out a House Show in summary format. These shows will feature jobbers, non title matches and just be for fun. Nothing that happens on these shows will be mentioned on TV. They’re just for FUN!

Supercards – These will have awesome names, be held in slightly larger venues and will be booked sporadically. When they do occur it will happen three weeks after the last show, giving everyone amble opportunity to get in the swing of things .

'Express Yourself' - This is our role-play/flash packet. This will be sent out the Friday before SWL-Tube. This will no longer be broadcast on television and will also only be available on the SWL YouTube channel. Occasionally this will feature a match or two, sometimes squashes, sometimes for people I cannot fit on the main SWL-Tube show. Roleplays for these matches will be featured earlier in the show.

———————————————
4. Role-plays, Flashes, Squashes, Backstage and In Rings
———————————————

Role-plays (flashes) are the heart and should of SWL. They are what decides what your character does, how they gets on in his/her matches and how they develop feuds with other characters. Role-plays need to be sent to SWLeague@aol.com

Role-plays will be sent out the Friday before a show. Please remember only one role-play per Role-play/Flash packet. It’s about quality and not quality and being accessible to as many people as possible.

As far as what happens in your role-plays you can be as creative as you like, open your mind and have a chicken burger. As long as it’s fairly realistic and within what would happen, be said and done to a character in a small regional promotion.

You may from time to time be booked for a Backstage or In Ring interview on a show, this means your role-play will not be included in the ‘Express Yourself’ packet but will feature on the show, it will be judged the same as the others, but realistically needs to take place either in the ring or backstage at the show.

As mentioned previously, you can now submit a squash match instead of a role-play, please give me a bit of notice, but it can be put on the 'Express Yourself' show or SWL-Tube.

———————————————
5. Championships
———————————————

National Champion – This is for the big dawgs amongst you. If you fancy being the number one pony in these stables then this is what you get. As National Champion you will represent SWL, you will be the posterboy of the promotion, are you up to the challenge?

National Tag Team Champions – I bloody love a good old tag match. I want to position the Tag Titles as important as the singles championship. If your not doing much, wondering around the bottom of the card I might just slap you in a team to try something new, who knows – you could be a champ!

Television Champion – This is the secondary championship, it’s on order at the moment, as soon as it arrives in the offices we’ll be getting the TV Title division underway.

———————————————
6. Rules
———————————————

1. SWL is a traditional fake character e-mail fantasy wrestling league. This means we don’t have a spiffing website (just a blog:http://www.theswl.com you don’t need to sign up to our boards, there will be no posers, all you do is check your email…simple huh?
2. Apart from Supercards, it’s only ever one role-play per show, can you manage that? ALL RPs are done through email, compiled into a flash packet. You can do your rps in any format you want, any writing style.
3. Play nice, we’re all fiends here to have a good time.
4. You can hold one singles title at a time, if you move up to a different title then you must vacate the previous one because sharing is caring.
5. If you can’t rp for a show drop me a very short line, I don’t care what the reason is, it’s just nice to know.
6. You can handle up to three people, anymore then you have to ask, I’ll probably say yes, I’m that kinda guy.

———————————————
7. Non-Playable Characters
———————————————

Dougie Wright – He is our lead play by play announcer, he’s been around for years and is a real student of the game. He loves for clean, smart professional wrestling and wishes everyone would just be nice to each other.

Marty The Cabbie – Marty The Cabbie is known as Marty The Cabbie because he is of course a taxi driver. You will often see his yellow cab parked outside the venue, often charging people for trips home after the matches. In his younger days he tried his hand at wrestling but was, well – awful; you would never think it though from how he goes on about it.

Zack Cobb – The Ring Announcer

Jasper Stead - Backstage interviewer for SWL-Tube and also commentator for 'Express Yourself' matches.

Jessica Pussycat – The gorgeous Jessica is the official SWL reporter, she conducts backstage interviews and any other assignments she’s sent on. And DAMN she is hot!

Wayne West – Referee

Barry Bellino – Referee
