Not at all. I think that just be posted here.

Seconded.

I probably misremembered half of it. I figured it wouldn't matter because Dro couldn't call me on it. You people can! :-O

I'm just curious to see what it looks like because to be honest, I've considered slapping one on the start of our shows in the past. Every time I watch one of my favorite shows and get reminded of some key plot element (or sometimes even minor ones) by the "Previously On...", I always wonder if it would serve a similar purpose in e-w and achieve a similar goal.

I've seen e-feds use it in the past and it worked well. I always like, "After we went off the air last week..." type stuff, or even in AWA's case, "This past Wednesday at a house show in Tulsa" which I think should be used more frequently for some of our squash matches. Rich and I used that scenario once because we thought we had three shows left before SuperClash but it was really two so we needed to cut back to "earlier this week" so we could have our wrestlers react too it on the current show. I've gotten off track though.

I like the recaps, as long as it's not super long or multiple things...just a few cuts of it. The problem I've seen in the past with other feds is when we have to read 10 pages of material before the show even starts. Plus, you're creating more work for yourself. ;)

It's rather long. I may misremember things. And there are some opinions in here too.

==================================

Here we go...

MAIN STORYLINE: In early 2012, the AWA National Champion was Calisto Dufresne. One day, Joe Petrow posted a YouTube video of the stable he managed, Royalty, gloating about their head Mark Langseth having won the AWA National Title. This was notable because at the time, they were all suspended and their names were deliberately not being mentioned on air. (This was done OOC by Petrow posting it on JTF, as he had done with YouTube promos during the suspension.)

Everyone was shocked to learn on the next SNW that it did happen: in an untelevised house show in Westwego, Louisiana, a massive thunderstorm prevented most of the roster from getting to the show. Langseth was there to take advantage by filling in as the National title match opponent; despite his suspension, the promoters felt a need to give the Westwego fans that came out a worthwhile title match because they had billed one. Royalty cheated to win the belt.

Then Langseth declared that he was taking the title away unless his demands were met. The AWA decided that they were not going to negotiate with terrorists, and instituted a World Title. They had a 64 man tournament that four rounds of the tournament comprised the PPV Blood Sweat And Tears.

During the tournament, manager Percy Childes made his move to get the title for Nenshou (the Muta homage character). Juan Vasquez, who was seeking revenge on everyone who had been involved in severely injuring him in 2011, wanted Childes. Childes offered him the chance to get revenge if he could beat James Monosso in a no DQ match at Blood Sweat and Tears. Monosso was outraged, because he was still in the tournament (and had to beat Bad Eye McBaine and Hannibal Carver to get there, so he was already battered)... Percy wanted to make sure he wouldn't be a threat to Nenshou. If Monosso won, Juan would be forced to work for Childes.

Calisto Dufresne, who was also on Juan's hitlist, ensured that Vasquez lost to Monosso. Juan was forced to join Percy Childes' stable. But in a development that shocked everyone, Monosso STILL managed to win the World Title, going through Vasquez, Glenn "Bullywug" Hudson, Nenshou, Sultan Azam Sharif, and Stevie Scott in two nights to win the title. He turned on Percy when Childes demanded that he lay down for Nenshou, and in so doing became a face.

Of course, after he won the belt, Royalty came back with the National Title...

--------------------------------------------------------------------
MATCH BY MATCH

Gunnar "Grizzly" Gaines and Ryan Martinez (RyGunn) vs The Rave

- Simple premise: this is a qualifier for the prestigious Stampede Cup tournament. Gaines is from the OLD circle, a character big in 96-97. He came back as a tournament guest and stayed on. His angle is that his young son Justin wants to follow in his footsteps and keeps showing up and intervening despite his father's admonishions. He interfered (sort of) in a match between Gaines and Martinez, causing a lot of friction which the elder gaines smoothed over with an offer to be a tag team (if I recall). This is their attempt to get in the tournament. The Rave is a New Breed homage who came from the year 2032 because somebody is screwing with the timestream, and they must act on the orders of Senator Wilde to [REDACTED]. :-D (AWA doesn't have many comedy characters; The Rave are the most promenent)

MAMMOTH Maximus vs Giant Aso

- Giant Aso is the man formerly known as MAMMOTH Mizusawa, a Giant Baba/Andre homage. He was formerly managed by Louis Matsui. Mizusawa turned out to have some honor and respect, so he went face and became managed by Buccaneer Bart Roberts, a Lou Albano homage. Outraged, Matsui picked up MAMMOTH Maximus, a Vader homage, who put Mizusawa out. Mizusawa came back with a new (terrible) name. This is the blowoff.

Steal The Spotlight: Terry Shane III/Nenshou/Grant Stone/Skywalker Jones/Alphonse Green vs Hannibal Carver/Rick Marley/November/Chris Staley/Travis Lynch (Survivor Series match, basically)

- The winner of this match can make any match they want for themself in 2013.
Terry Shane III is a new character who has been provoking Hannibal Carver, who entered the tournament as a guest and stayed.
Hannibal Carver is a face now because he wants to show the world that he can wrestle without all the hardcore (even though he's still pretty brutal).
November also came during the tournament and stayed.
Skywalker Jones is an arrogant 2 Cold Scorpio homage that made a passing jab at November in a match after doing one of his moves. That was just a throwaway spot to show he was a jerk, but Novy returned the favor in his next match. This built into a feud.
Alphonse Green is almost like a Honky Tonk Man homage, without the music gimmick: he's an undertalented overachieving heel who is good at stealing wins and is a battle royal specialist (and is an awesome character :-)).
Nenshou is Percy Childes' golden boy, almost a straight clone of Muta, who is obsessed with the title.
Grant Stone is the muscle brought in by Percy to help Nenshou and take out Monosso.
Rick Marley is a face here who lampshaded the "only the feds I followed were important" mentality (guys who accomplished things in the "big feds" get instacred, but Marley's work in UEW and PVW was ignored) that Blue and others sometimes has and got buried for it by Bucky Wilde in a fourth-wall-scraping promo. (It actually works perfectly for Don, as you will see... it seems like there's OOC emnity seeping in but that's not the case)
Travis Lynch is a Kerry Von Erich homage run by Rob Allegra; one of three Lynch Brothers (the others are run by Dave Garcia and Brian Bell). You know how Bell and Rob vanished due to RL... so he hadn't RPed in a while. But Blue knew the deal so he wasn't going to bury him totally, hence his appearance on the card.
Chris Staley is a character from the old days, I think from EMWC, that I know little about. He also stayed after a tourney guest spot, and does decent promos.

Juan Vasquez vs Calisto Dufresne

The apex of the Juan Vasquez Revenge Tour. Vasquez was a face when almost every heel in the fed jumped him and nearly crippled him. It culminated in Calisto Dufresne using an anytime title match stipulation he'd been saving for well over a year to take his National Title. When vasquez returned, he wreaked violent bloody revenge on everyone involved, one by one. He crossed the line, and did things that were possibly worse than what the heels did to him. When Percy Childes gained his contract (see MAIN STORYLINE), Juan told him: get me Dufresne, and I will ensure Nenshou wins the title. Percy followed his side of the deal: he has Dufresne.

The Aces vs Brian Von Braun/Sweet Daddy Williams

Over a year ago, Nenshou sprayed black mist at Brian Von Braun, seemingly blinding him for good. Over the years, the Von Braun family has been bitter enemies of the Childes family in many territories, and always seemed to come out on top. That has not happened in the AWA, as Percy Childes is a powerful manager, and his nephew Steven is one-half of The Aces. BVB returned, looking for revenge on Percy. Percy pulled The Aces back to the AWA (they had been in Japan) to take him out. Sweet Daddy Williams (a sort of JYD homage) offered his help to Von Braun because Williams is a true face and wants BVB to change his formerly evil ways.

Retirement Match: Joe Petrow vs Big Jim Watkins

Jim Watkins is a Cowboy Bill Watts homage character that has been the head of the Championship Committee and an on-screen "commissioner" role for quite a while. Though a face, he has played favorites and among those who he always opposes is Joe Petrow, manager of Royalty. Aside from one match against Alex Martinez, Petrow hadn't wrestled in the AWA but had done a lot of work interfering and manipulating. He finally snapped at Watkins, and now they will have one match where the loser will never again be associated with pro wrestling in any way.

Tag Team Titles: The Bishop Boys © vs Robert Donovan & Jack Lynch

With James Lynch injured (that's Bell's character, so he had to be written out a while), Robert Donovan stepped in to get the rematch for the Lynches (Jack and James were tag champs previously). A DQ win got them one more match here at SuperClash. The Bishops are wild violent redneck heels and have been tag champs for some time now.

Barbed Wire Match: William Craven vs Alex Martinez

Almost two years in the making. In 2011, someone named The Dragon started sending people to take out Alex Martinez. Martinez had grueling matches all year against people from his past as well as dangerous people from AWA. In the end, it was William Craven, who was jealous that Martinez took "his spot" in EMWC and became the big megastar Craven thinks he should have been. He put Martinez out for a year, and proceeded to try and turn AWA into EMWC by bringing back hardcore. He had tried to bring the AWA wrestlers and fans to his way of thinking... this is a MUCH better character direction than he had in PVW. Martinez is back, and what is the epitome of old school "hardcore"? This is the first barbed wire match in AWA history... AWA almost never does this stuff (we STILL hadn't had a through-the-table spot going into this card)

Six Man Tag: Sultan Azam Sharif/Supernova/??? vs Mark Langseth/Dave Cooper/???

Just before Langseth got the National Title, he and Royalty (at the time, that was him, Rough and Ready, and Petrow) interfered in a Dufresne defense against Sultan Azam Sharif (an Iron Shiek homage) while Sharif had the camel clutch on Dufresne. This was the start of a slow face turn for the Sultan, who went apeshit and has been threatening to break Langseth's back and make him humble all year. Sharif finally fired his manager, Count Adrian Bathwaite, who had been trying to keep him from Langseth. Supernova, a Sting homage, stepped up when Royalty returned to "defend" the AWA from them wanting to take the World Title away just as they took the National Title. So Sharif and Supernova, who HATED one another before, made amends and are now out to get Royalty. Royalty's return was heralded by "The Professional" Dave Cooper, formerly one half of Rough and Ready and now a solo Arn Anderson homage. Sharif challenged Langseth, Cooper, and Petrow... but Petrow split from Royalty to pursue his vendetta against Watkins. Both teams have invited the winner of the Steal The Spotlight match to fill their team: who will it be and who will they side with?

Ladder Match for the AWA Longhorn Heritage Title: Glenn "Bullywug" Hudson vs "Doctor Of Love" Dave Bryant

Two more veterans who returned around tourney time. Hudson won the Longhorn Heritage title shortly after arriving, but Bryant stole it and smashed it to bits. They have feuded over the actual belt, and now this match is for the title itself. Simple but effective story.

AWA World Title Match: James Monosso © vs Supreme Wright

Funny thing: Terry put Wright in just to fill numbers for the tournament, and then got pushed to the semifinals. He won the Rumble on night two of Blood Sweat and Tears to get this title match.
After winning the belt, he finally got a doctor (who was not paid by Percy Childes to lie) to give him an examination, and he learned that he had to retire immediately (like Edge did). The enormous financial windfall of the tournament prize money made it possible for him to do this and have a chance at survival; his storyline had always been that he had no choice as he was penniless. However, he was still under contract to Childes through the end of the year. Childes refused to allow him to retire, threatening expensive legal action if he did. Childes then signed matches for him week after week to destroy him. The only monkey wrench in Percy's plan is that Nenshou didn't win the opportunity for this match: Wright did.
Wright has obsessively focused on Monosso's "turn", stating that the fans are cheering an evil man because they feel sorry for him. He brought back Eric Preston, a young wrestler whose career and mindset were pretty much ruined by Monosso. Preston is horribly bitter and wants Monosso to die in a fire, as well as everyone that now cheers him. Wright saw the insane amount of punishment that Monosso can take, and has decided that to win the title, he'll have to cripple Monosso. It's the only way to be sure.
Monosso has stated that he has not changed, but he has now seen that he was wrong about some things. He'll still go for the jugular and do whatever he has to do. The fans helped him, so he will not lie to them. So we have a (sort of) face being a heel and a (definite) heel being a face. ;-D

I really enjoyed the recap. Thought on the whole it was really well done.

HOWEVER... I shall take issue with this... sorta.

I openly admit that there are three feds where success in that fed will earn "instacred" with me. They are the E (obviously), the Double Eye (grudgingly), and LWC. Those are the three places that I saw on a regular enough basis to know that if you were "something" there, then you probably were really fucking good at what you do.

There are other feds that earn that "instacred" with me to a lesser extent (UWF, RCW, G-Pro, GLCW, KCW, SCRA, maybe a few others) where I know that - generally speaking - success in those promotions meant you were PROBABLY very good at what you did as well.

Then there are others who have a reputation that ranges anywhere from great (PVW) to not-so-great (UEW) depending on who you ask. Since the total number of PVW and UEW shows that I've read can be counted on one hand, I cannot assign the so-called "instacred" to anyone from there and/or their exploits.

That said... uhh.. I voted for Chris Tyler! So I think that earns me some slack, damn it!

Don't worry, Jer. It's been the main bone of contention (other then me being a giant flake), if any, between me and Blue. Recognizing other feds has always been a weird thing in this circle. Small circle, but certain feds and their "stars" get ignored by other feds.
