- Jimmy Snuka
- Jerry Lawler
- Brian Pillman
- Brutus Beefcake (no, really, he was actually decent in his prime)
- DDP (past the target time range but he'd fit)

I think the Snuka problem is that part of his popularity in that era derived from being the only guy in the company who was doing top rope moves and over the top dives in a time when people were marveling at that. If you take that away from him, what's left?

Lawler might work if you worked up a hell of a backstory for him. He'd almost be like a "king of the indies" type gimmick now where he was a huge fish in a small pond who is now coming to test himself in the "big leagues."

Snuka Homage: Island wrestler bringing an innovative wrestling style to AWA. He could push the potential borders of moves you've allowed, doesn t necc need to be a high flyer pending on how true to the homage you want to be... Though it'd be tough to get away from. Loved and adored by fans for his in ring performance. Potential feuds; Skywalker Jones, Donnie White, etc.

Rollin' Rich Michaels: Combat Corner Graduate, his father grew up with Todd Michaelson and passed away at a young age when Rich was in his youth. Michaelson became somewhat of a big brother/father figure to him and took him under his wing. Thinking of somewhat of a young RVD/Kid Cash kinda guy.

I think we've well pushed the boundries on high flying with Jones/Novy doing all sorts of wackiness. The world exists in 2013, so doing a Pillman/Liger match and calling it "high flying" is really doing a disservice to fan's intelligence.

And I am sorta with Blue. Snuka was based on the time he existed in and his look. Look doesn't transfer to text and too many guys do way fancier moves.

I mean, you can still do the Snuka gimmick...Islander dude that flies. You just have to adapt it for the modern times.

I'd say if you are going to, almost go the Ong Bak route. An acrobatic striker type.

A capoiera based moveset would be the aces.

A capoiera based moveset would be the aces.

So Tommy Fiero comes back retooled as Tommy Ferreira, the Brazilian acrobatic capoeira specialist and we have a modern Snuka homage. Perfect!

It would also be a homage to Billy Graham, kung fu champion of the world.

So, uhhh, unexpectedly, as I started putting this list together, I ran off a list (with short 1 paragraph descriptions) for a surprising FIFTY characters that ranged from "Wow! I really like this!" to "Huh... this might be interesting."

Upon the realization I could just start another fed, I've decided to spin off Royalty into their own promotion... 4 LYFE!

...

No, that won't be happening. But this list will be delayed a bit longer while I narrow it down to something more manageable.

Actually having a really hard time cutting this list down. I may just put out the whole thing and offer to make full apps for any characters that people show interest in.

Or have us make sample apps for anyone who intrigues us. I don't want a new character but I like making apps.

My Angus character is exactly this. Never thought of it as a Lawler homage however. Now I want to watch some old Lawler.

Decided to do the full 50 (52 now... forgot to add in Brody and had fun writing Solomon Shock on SNW and added him in.)

HOWEVER...

I'll be posting them in batches so they don't get all clumped together and overlooked. Plus, I'm sure there's a character limit on here that would make me annoyed to have to run a character count on my list.

So, here's the first five...

***

JACK WATTS
A former kickboxing champion, Watts has exited that world in favor of
a new career in professional wrestling. One of the toughest guys you'd ever
face down in a ring or a cage, Watts is what you'd call "double tough." He had
a tremendous streak in kickboxing of never being knocked out due to his incredible jaw. Beware the high kick.

COLT MAHONEY
Ever heard the stories of wrestlers who worked the carnival circuit, inviting the fans into the ring to try and fight with them? That's Colt Mahoney. In one of the last touring carnivals in Europe to practice such a thing, Mahoney has reigned supreme for the last six years. He's a master of submission skills and bare-knuckled brawling and has an armbar that will finish anyone he locks it on that has earned him the nickname "The Armbar Assassin" amongst his peers.

JIMMY THUNDER
Growing up as a boy in the late 90s, Jimmy Davis got to see the sport in its glory days, falling in love with names like Kowalski, James, Hardin, and especially Brody Thunder. Upon graduating high school, Jimmy immediately went to wrestling school where it was discovered that his photographic memory somehow translated into a skill where he could mimic almost any move he saw - and since he has an extensive collection of tapes from the IIWF, EMWC, and LWC (among others), he has seen a lot of classic competitors in action. Now, Jimmy has adopted the surname of his favorite wrestler and is ready to make his debut.

GRAN KEDAMONO
The latest incarnation of a gimmick that's been around for decades. No one believes the new Kedamono is actually the original but you would never get the new guy to admit it. The Oriental nervehold used by the men in this gimmick is devastating and has been known to send men to the hospital with nerve damage. A legendary gimmick in Japan that has been exported to the States with great success over the years.

"SCORCHIN" SHANE TAYLOR
The younger brother of the Outlaw, Shane has never really had a chance to catch on anywhere and not be in his big brother's shadow. But with Bobby apparently (finally?) retired from in-ring action, Shane is coming back to the AWA for the run he's never gotten. With the lovely Kandi Kane by his side, Shane brings his cigs, wifebeater tank top, and Black Beauty studded leather glove back to the AWA.

How does Gran Kedamono differ from Mr. Sadisuto?

Excited for this list. Diggin Shane Taylor but it might cause me a nervous breakdown writing two "Shane's".
