Thorough enjoyment! The Beale Street heat segment may have been one of the best I've ever read in a tag. It's a lost art writing like that (let alone that actually happening in real wrestling outside the Shield). Too many people want to write just tons of action back and forth. The Carver/Shane stuff scattered throughout seemed a bit weird to me. Dug the three way concept. Really liked the Wargames match too. Maybe blood too early and not sure about introducing the Black Tiger guy, otherwise really solid. End was a blast. Just a few quick thoughts anyhow as I end the show. |

Quick thoughts, the morning after. Trying to do it mostly spoiler-free, but no promises. Rage-White: Good opener. Felt realistic. White came across as somebody who was getting his first real big match in his career; I don't know why that resonated with me, but it did. Rave-Workers: Oddly, despite it being a texas tornado countout match, it felt more normal than most Rave matches. Probably because it's their first big match as faces (aside from the eight-man). Shane Promo: Is good. Crowley-Sawyer: Good job of setting up Crowley. Carver Promo: Is good. Monosso DVD: Buy it. Bryant Promo: Served the storyline well. Donovan Promo: Kind of weird hearing one guy do the promo for the whole group, but sometimes it just happens when schedules get rough. Kickass promo, though. Lynches Promo: Is it me, or has it been forever since all three Lynches were active at once? This felt very realistic. What '80s faces would say. I like that kind of thing. Bullies-Lynches: The match's storyline was very well done, and the twist ending was also well done. I didn't expect it despite this having been done in wrestling and e-wrestling a number of times. Very effective storytelling. Sandra Hayes: Didn't understand the point of this until later. Dufrense Promo: Was decent. Cooper-Bryant: The Dusscher stuff being crowbarred in there felt weird. I don't know what that is leading up to. The end was booked a bit odd, as well. I can't really say what seemed odd about it without spoilers, but if you're reading this thread, you probably have read the card. Please note, I'm not saying "YUR DOIN IT RONG", just stating why it felt odd. So: if the storyline is that Dave Cooper is the chaser here... because Bryant attacked Royalty and because he wants to complete the title sweep... generally it's more effective when the bell saves Bryant rather than the bell saves Cooper. When the bell saves the chased, you get the impression that the chaser is SOCLOSE. Even as a heel, this works because now the fans are afraid that he'll get their hero next time! But when the chaser is saved by the bell, it seems like there's nothing to worry about; why would the chaser get another match? The storyline can certainly accommodate this (for example, maybe Cooper has to earn a rematch, or do bad stuff to make Bryant want to fight him), and then the rematch has the extra oomph of Cooper not having been beaten, technically. It just felt strange to do it this way. But then again, now I am interested to see how it goes from here. Dusscher Promo: No clue where this is going. BTW, we now need to do a show named "Killing Box" that has nothing to do with the match. It's only fair. Blue Promo: WAT Shane Gang: I was happy to see the Workers bury the Rave's gimmick. That in-universe reaction makes crazy gimmicks work in this setting. So, we've had an eight-man, we've had individual matches, and obviously our War Games has been used for the year. How will this be blown off? STAY TUNED. (no, I actually don't know myself) No Escape Challenge: I know I shouldn't really waste energy wondering about the logistics of exactly how Sandra's hairstylist caused this to happen, but I can't help wondering how they both ended up in the ring. It's not really supposed to be explained but... enquiring minds want to know! Then again, I don't have a clear mental image of the No Escape. I think the stips should have included that if Carver escaped the No Escape, it had to be renamed the Almost No Escape or the Not Many Escapes. Brawl cements that there must be a blowoff! Will teams of five strive to survive? *counts* Uh, will teams of four war to settle the score? Monosso DVD: Buy another copy! *realizes that he could use the WWE games to make a Monosso DVD kinda like this* Hmmm! RyGunn Promo: KATSUMURA! *marks out* Very long promo, but if it is good it can be long. (Thank God; there'd go my entire ouvre otherwise) And it was good. And didn't foreshadow anything, which was also good! Bombers-RyGunn: I feel like doing a Dro Mark Out Mania rant for the turn at the end of this match. I did NOT see it coming, and I see everything coming. The only downside is that the face pool got even smaller. Otherwise, I am intrigued! Rave T-Shirt: Snarf it, protosheep! MAMMOTH Promo: The promo was rolling along fine, and then it ends on the most bizarre note. Like he suddenly decided that Supreme Wright would win and he'd be okay with that. As a mention inside the promo, I can understand it, but ending the promo on the note... it confused the hell out of me. It felt like somebody cut the promo off halfway through. Wright Promo: I want an "I Respectfully Disagree" T-Shirt. HA! And you thought Supreme Wright wasn't marketable! He can start "I RESPECTFULLY DISAGREE! I RESPECTFULLY DISAGREE! I RESPECTFULLY DISAGREE!" chants, and team up with a returning Polemos to form Team I Respectfully Disagree! (well, the T-Shirt idea is serious, anyway) If we still booked matches based solely on promos rather than angles, this would have won the belt. Graham Promo: This guy is almost as passive-aggressive as GLaDOS! I wonder if we'll see him in two weeks. World Title Match: I was also unclear on the rules until a ways into the match, which made my shock at the opening sequence greater. DID DUFRESNE JUST GET BACKLUNDED?! But the rules did make for interesting stratgey, and strategy is Dufresne's thing. So he got to win without making anyone look weak. It was a fun read. UA Promo: I can't comment, since I wrote a chunk of it. Carver Challenge: Since he won the Almost No Escape challenge, he gets to declare stips. And it's almost like he custom-made this match to screw himself over. A guy named Hannibal should be better at strategy. :-) War Games: It upheld the tradition of fun WarGames matches. I was hoping the UA would win, but not expecting it. And it happened in a way that doesn't really hurt the full-time characters who are staying. The match claims a ton of victims. To Wallie's comment about being unsure about debuting someone here... he was just there to protect Percy. That's who I'm replacing Nenshou with. As to why all of that happened to Nenshou... all of the information needed is available in previous promos. Voice Reveal: There's more to this than meets the eye! |

For Jer.. Crucifix Neck Crank aka Shane's No Escape. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PRXwBj-Ni-U Thats obviously a very slow version of the set up. It can be done more as a crossface finish as well. Also, thanks for taking the time to comment on each and every seg/match on the show. |

Honestly, I didn't know how to end that promo. I guess I could have gone with Maximus' usual boast, but, instead, I decided, screw it, if we're going to have AWA-Royalty II, the anyone-but-Royalty tone might be one way in for Maximus. |
