Joe wanting me to describe every time Supreme breathes in is over-description bordering on Jividen levels!

I didn't say that! I'm saying that, if you're going to describe an exhalation, you need to be consistent with the followup, or I'm going to picture Wright as blue in the face, speaking in painfully quiet, breathless tone.

Nenshou speaks!  Just not in a language that the AWA Universe as a whole understands.

I am sure Nenshou can speak, but to the best of my knowledge, he hasn't. And whether in Japanese or English, I suspect speaking would remove a good deal of his mystique.

Jason Dane has outright stated that he has learned that Nenshou is able to understand and speak English.

I trust Jason Dane about as far as Stegglet can throw him!

I was considering doing a review of the show but just don't think I'll have the time.

However, I thought I'd experiment by offering to do an Unholy War Q&A. Have specific questions about matches? Angles? Booking? Whatever you want to know about the show, leave the questions here and I'll try to answer them!

Or... don't. And then I'll know it's a failed experiment!

All the best parts of your reviews were things that I would have never thought to ask you myself.

Hearing JK Rowling spin a tale is more interesting than hearing her answer a question about why she made Ron such a whiny bitch.

Seconded. Can't think of anything specific to ask.

Just saw. My favorite part is more your insight. Like walk us through your game plan and booking with the World Title match and the build up from when you decided to make it a triangle match and why.

And just as I was going to ask "Will any of these "big match" Supreme Wright promos ever actually change your mind on the booking?" :spam:

Actually, I miss the Blue's reviews. They explain more than any random Q and A ever could...which is why I demanded one for the Stampede Cup!

Done.

The World Title situation has been... and continues to be... a challenging one much like the National Title scene was before that. Ever since the City Jack angle, it just seems like we have trouble getting the right fit for a feuding partner for Dufresne. I'm not sure why that is. Every once in a while, there seems to be some sparks for something... but not enough to carry it forward.

This is one of those cases of me booking myself into a corner. Most of the usual suspects for a title match are tied up with WarGames. The only people with the "guaranteed title match" are both heels. I wanted to hold off on doing Wright vs Dufresne straight up because there's at least one corner of my mind pondering that for a SuperClash title match. And all honesty, I didn't think anyone would buy Maximus beating Dufresne. In-character, sure. Out of character, while the Maximus promos are solid, they're probably not World Title material at the moment at least.

The Battle Royal was supposed to buy me some time to figure out which way I wanted to go with it... and yes, I even considered having Hamilton Graham win it. I knew a lot of people would treat the Unholy War title match as a throwaway defense anyways so I thought I could have some fun with Graham trying to beat the odds in front of "his" crowd.

Ultimately, I decided the Triangle Match would be something different and fun... plus it might throw enough intrigue in there to tease a title change.

For the match itself, I had a couple of goals.

One was that I wanted Maximus and Wright to put on the toughest fight. I knew I could have some fun with Maximus and Wright beating the crap out of one another and it would be fitting Dufresne's style to try and let them do exactly that. The other goal was to give Wright enough of a push that if I decided to go that direction for SuperClash, we'd have something that leads us there.

The first fall sees Maximus pull a Diesel to Dufresne's Backlund. I wanted a quick start, a surprising start, and I wanted Maximus (the underdog in everyone's OOC eyes) to suddenly be a win away from the World Title. Plus, this gave Dufresne time on the outside to recover while Wright and Maximus beat each other to a pulp.

The second fall was Maximus v. Wright... a fall that had me watching Vader vs Misawa for inspiration. If you look back at the number of strikes exchanged, you'll probably see that. This fall also gave me a good chance to use the Cobra Clutch Crossface to remind everyone that it's THE MDK submission finish in the AWA. It's choked out Monosso... it's choked out Maximus. This put both challengers a win away from taking the title. This fall actually ended up going shorter than I had originally envisioned but I decided the match would run too long if it went much deeper.

Fall 3 is Dufresne v. Maximus... which means Maximus can't win the title. The question then, psychology wise, is would Maximus just cost himself the match so he could get another shot at Wright... but by doing that, he puts Dufresne in a position where he only needs one win to finish the match. Maximus ends up fighting a defensive match to keep himself in control. Dufresne tries to sneak the quick win though by knocking Wright from the ring and trying to take advantage of the work that Wright's already done. Of course, this is the fall with the blatant low blow to DQ himself. Dufresne knows he needs a win over Maximus... but also knows that this might be his best way to get there. It's the same type of strategy as you get in an Iron Man match where someone waffles someone with a chair, losing a fall by DQ, but potentially doing major damage to the opponent.

Fall 4 is Dufresne v. Maximus again which means Dufresne's strategy pays off and he uses a rope assisted Wham Bam (a spot I really liked by the way) to get the win on Maximus after Maximus went through a war with Wright, getting choked out, getting kicked in the nuts, AND taking the World Champ's finish. I wanted to make sure that Maximus had to take a world of punishment before falling to Dufresne in an attempt to keep him strong.

Fall 5 is Maximus v. Wright again - the idea being that Wright can't benefit from winning except he HAS to win to keep his title chances alive. I get that the match has confusing stips for some people but it's really a fun match to write because there's so many strategic ways to go with it. I also had Wright dive on him right away, trying to take advantage of the DDT because as much as Wright is a straight up kinda guy... he also will kill and maim to win the World Title. I had these two beat the hell out of each other again... because it makes me smile. The double countout was kind of required here. Maximus wasn't going to win the title so he couldn't win but I didn't see any point in having Wright beat him again.

Fall 6 FINALLY gets Wright and Dufresne in there which is what "the fans" have been waiting for. This is where we get the first real "feel" to the match that the title might change hands, I think. I had a hard time deciding how I wanted this one to end. I had considered Maximus breaking up a submission with a splash, causing a double DQ to keep things going but ultimately, I knew Royalty needed to get involved because one of the themes to the show is Royalty wanting to show the world that THEY'RE the top dogs in the AWA, not Vasquez and the Gang nor the Unholy Alliance. The Cooper loss already put a ding in that so them taking the chance to pull a Horsemen saving Flair's title seemed appropriate here. In case you haven't noticed, I love the loaded boot as a MDK foreign object so Wright getting knocked out by it? Gold.

So, Royalty saves the title right when it looked like Wright had it within reach. Maximus has a big match under his belt and a strong outing in it at that. All goals accomplished, I believe.

Any other questions?

:D :D :D
