"THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE REPRESENTS THE FEELINGS OF TODD MICHAELSON AND TODD MICHAELSON ALONE. IT DOES NOT REFLECT THE OFFICIAL STANDING OF AWA MANAGEMENT."

[Todd Michaelson is standing in front of an AWA backdrop as we come up from black and... well, he doesn't look happy.]

TM: There are times in this business where you really just want to pack things up and go home to your wife, you know? Times where you've put your heart and soul into something just to have some know-nothing crap all over it.

I've had that feeling many times in my career. Considering where I spent my formative years in this business, that shouldn't surprise anyone. The number of times where someone watched an EMWC Pay Per View where people were quite literally putting their careers on the line to do some crazy stuff and then that same someone ran to the Internet to trash everything they saw... well, I can't count that high without a calculator.

I had that feeling again right after Homecoming went off the year. The 100th edition of Saturday Night Wrestling - something we all poured our blood, sweat, and tears into making the best show we could. We saw a Match Of The Year contender in Carver versus Shane. We heard the announcement of the most eagerly anticipated rematch in AWA history with Juan Vasquez meeting Stevie Scott. We saw the aftermath of Unholy War. The best wrestlers in the world trying to climb the rankings. The beginning of the road to SuperClash. The...

[Michaelson pauses for several silent moments.]

TM: But on Sunday morning, the first question everyone was asking was...

"What in the hell happened with Joshua Dusscher?"

[Michaelson shakes his head.]

TM: I don't want to be the one who say, "I told you so", Steggy... but I told you so. That whole thing? I knew it wasn't right from the first moment it was proposed. The meeting where we discussed bringing this kid in was one of the longest, nastiest meetings I've ever been in. Practically no one in the front office could agree on this thing.

Hamilton Graham was right. The marquee out front said "wrestling." That's what we know best and that's what we should've stuck to.

There were people in the front office who believed this was an opportunity we couldn't pass up... that it was the golden ticket to returning the world of wrestling to that period of time when there were a half dozen promotions drawing huge ratings and crowds.

[Another shake of the head.]

TM: It was a mistake... one that we're all regretting right now. But it was NOT a mistake that Karl O'Connor made on his own. Yes, he was a part of the decision but if he has to resign over it, we ALL have to resign over it.

[Michaelson cracks a smirk.]

TM: And I'm not about to accept my own resignation. So, Karl, the job is still yours if you want it... and I know you do.

As far as Joshua Dusscher's "challenge" goes, I'm going to let Karl answer it himself later. He'll have his own words for this kid, I'm sure. But as for mine?

[Michaelson rubs his chin.]

TM: Dusscher.

You strike me as the kind of kid who goes camping with his parents deep in the woods. Your dad warns you, "Now, if we run into any bears, leave them alone. This is their home. We're just visiting and don't really belong here." You nod and smile... but a few hours later, you're on a hike to go do your business and run into a sleeping bear.

Now, a smart child would walk away at that point...

...but we all know you're not a smart child.

[Michaelson is getting worked up a bit now, loosening his tie as his volume increases.]

TM: You reach into the bushes and grab a stick. You walk up and you jab that damn stick into the bear's ribs. That bear wakes up and growls... a warning shot. But you're too stupid to realize you're in danger so you poke him again...

And that bear gets up and rips your damned head off.

[Michaelson smiles.]

TM: Seems like the situation you're in now, doesn't it? You could've done your silly little songs, collected your way-too-big paycheck, and been on your way. But you decided to poke the sleeping bear.

At that point, you got the warning shot. Karl made it quite clear that there's a locker room full of guys looking to put you in the hospital for what you had to say... but you can't leave it alone...

And you poke the bear again.

[Michaelson points at the camera.]

TM: You're just a visitor in MY home. A place where you don't belong.

The bear is up now, Dusscher. And it's pissed off.

And you still want to see how close you can get.

[Michaelson nods.]

TM: The decision is up to Karl... but I hope he lets you in the door, Dusscher. I really hope he does. Because somebody... anybody... maybe even me... is going to get their hands on you.

And then you're going to find out how fake our world is.

I promise you that, son. I promise you that.

[The camera zooms in on Michaeson's cold and focused eyes as we fade to black.]

Didn't Hamilton Graham say that Michaelson was one of the guys backing Dusscher?

If he did he misquoted himself.

Graham holds all of ownership responsible for the decision. The fact that there may have been management squabbles over the decision was kept under wraps.
