We went throught literally dozens of scenarios for that main event.

One thing is for sure. If Wright had won the title at SuperClash, I would've turned him heel(Remember...Supreme had every intention to end Monosso's career). So chew on that for awhile.

Also..."Wright is part of Royalty" was one of the discussed possible scenarios. How nutty would that have been?

My guess?

Wright turns heel alongside Preston. They serve as the AWA's version of the Two Man Power Trip.

Dufresne doesn't win the title and therefore never joins Royalty. Royalty actually dies when Bren vanishes.

Without Royalty as a strong threat, perhaps the Wise Men angle doesn't get run... yet.

So, yeah... probably a very different end result.

Dave Cooper would have better off if that happened. He finally stepped out of the shadow of Mark Langseth...only to immediately step into the shadow of Calisto Dufresne.

Maybe SuperClash V would have been headlined by a Wright/Cooper rematch with the roles reversed?

Ideally Cooper vs Langseth would be a great match for the Clash.

I actually don't know how much I buy this. I look at Cooper more as the leader of the group than Dufresne.

I don't consider anyone the actual leader of Royalty. They're a collective of equals or something. Cooper doesn't give off the leader vibe to me.

I was looking for the "drunk Kevin Nash" e-mail and came across a sea of interesting "what ifs" from the early days of the AWA.

Dave talking about making a "Raven-esque" character because he'd been watching a bunch of ECW.

Early talks with Scotty B about running a "Muta type with a Gary Hart manager." He also looked at doing an Abby called - "Singh Singh Shankhar, from Bombay, India. Will also be referred to as the "Bombay Bad Boy" or the "Madman From Hindustan""

Discussion of giving Broussard an uncreated "Dane cousin" as a valet.

From one of the early Updates...
"I saw a strat that involved a plate-glass table. I realize that some of you haven't seen the old school promotions that I mention that we're pattering the AWA after but I can assure you, none of them were "ultraviolent." We will not be using glass tables... we will
not be using any tables at all most of the time. If it happens, it would be considered a major event occurring. We will not be using the typical weapons you would find in an "extreme" environment. No thumbtacks, no Singapore Canes, no barbed wire [well, maybe someday], etc. Hell, I expect we won't even use steel chairs very frequently."

Talks with Curt Kipp about coming in... over four years before he actually did.

Early discussion about Stevie Scott running his own stable like Eddie Gilbert's Hot Stuff International.

You made the "drunk Kevin Nash" remark in a chat. The actual e-mail was...

Quote:

I know you like him as the wisecrackin' smartass face but I'd like to see him a little more serious at times.  When you first pitched bringing him aboard, I asked how you thought you'd be able to adapt him to the AWA and you said you pictured him something like Magnum TA.  I'd like to see what we can do about getting a little closer to that.  When we did the big "Fan Poll" thing a couple months ago, someone remarked that Vasquez seemed a little too "Sports Entertainment" for the AWA and while I don't think that's always true, there are times when I think he should be serious that you play him the other way.

And Juan Vasquez never wisecracked ever again!

What's wrong with a drunk Kevin Nash?

You can't ask for The Rat Pack and not expect to get Oceans 11...

Dave talking about making a "Raven-esque" character because he'd been watching a bunch of ECW.

I have zero memory of this.

However, I must have been talking about Chance Holiday.

Which brings me to a "now it can be told" story, that I've never told anyone.

At some point, Blue emailed me a pitch to bring Martinez in to AWA. I loved the pitch. I was way stoked to do it. (I won't say what it was, since I think I want to cannibalize it some day). But it fell through as the other person in the angle wasn't as keen on it as I was.

But now I was thinking about coming in to the AWA. So, speaking of Chance, I thought about pitching Holiday as a Kevin Sullivan type. It would culminate with the lead babyface eventually making a "deal with the devil" to get Chance to help him out against a set of heels, preferably, I was thinking, in a War Games match.

I hadn't read an AWA card since Shaw left, so before I sent anything to Chris, I decided to read a card. On the first card I read, I saw Layton, and I figured there was no sense in pitching Chance as Kevin Sullivan, since there already was one.

Instead, I looked at my mound of Batman comics and we got the Dragon angle.

Years later, I see the lead babyface making a deal with the devil Layton, and I think of what might have been.

I've been pitching variations of that angle since the EMWC days and never really got it going. I've done pieces of it but never the full thing.

Someday... someday...

We never did map it out, but What If November kept the StS and cashed it in? When would he have done it? How?

I assume it would have been a small Cinderella run ending with him not winning a title, but making a good showing.

November cashing in at Opportunity Knocks instead of Vasquez or at Unholy War instead of the triangle match happening seemed like good times to do it.

Heck, what would have happened if ANY of the StS winner's handlers had done what they wanted to do with it...

MAMMOTH Mizusawa won it twice and kept cashing it in on Vasquez.
