Sent to USENET on January 13th, 1997:

Quote:

Yesterday was perhaps the greatest turning point in my 28 months
participating in e-wrestling.  In light of a personality conflict with
newly-elected commissioner Alex Autrey, I elected to temporarily abstain
from participating in FWLI action.  Although I had been a member of FWLI
for over two years, never participating in another fantasy league during
that time, I decided that I simply could not participate healthily in the
promotion.

I sent Mr. Autrey a letter to that effect, highlighting the conflicts that
he and I have.  Mr. Autrey's response was to send out a letter to all of
FWLI, twisting my words around, and in some cases outright lying.  In the
end, Mr. Autrey took it upon himself to personally fire me from FWLI.

As much as I hate to say it, this came as no surprise to me.  During Mr.
Autrey's first run as FWLI commissioner, he neglected to inform me that my
main character's (T'Challa) chief rival (Chad Sun) had left the promotion,
and thusly I gave interview focusing on a non-existant character for SIX
MONTHS.  Mr. Autrey claims that both he and Thomas F. Jones III e-mailed
me to that effect previously, which is simply not true.  It was only after
e-mailing Mr. Autrey myself that I got a response.  After he began his
second run as commissioner, further correspondence with him revealed that
he was going to do things his way as commissioner, and that if anybody
didn't like it, tough beans.  In my opinion, that is the absolute worst
way to run a promotion.

However, yesterday another significant event happened.  I had been talking
with Joe Petrow about joining RSPCW recently, as the stagnation of FWLI
under Joe Melillo (and the electing of Alex Autrey as new commissioner)
caused me to make an "escape route" for myself, in the event that
something like this happened.  Joe wrote me back that he was going to
spend his time devoted to the IIWF, and that if I wanted RSPCW, it was
mine for the taking.  After conferring with him, I officially stepped in
as RSPCW Commissioner as of yesterday.

Let me say that I hold no ill will towards FWLI nor its members.  FWLI has
a conglomerate of the best e-wrestlers the 'net has ever seen.  But Alex
Autrey has no place in e-wrestling.  He is a self-obsessed, egomaniacal
man who cares nothing but for his own selfish interests.  Considering what
FWLI has gone through throughout the years, I believe it would take one
hell of a lot to bring the promotion down.  Alex Autrey may do that
single-handedly.

Now, on to current business: as RSPCW Commissioner, my first goal is to
make RSPCW seem like a "real" promotion in everyone's eyes.  Considering
Joe Petrow ran the promotion almost single-handedly, cards were stagnant
and too infrequent.  The first step to this goal is to cure this problem.
RSPCW members will be receiving further e-mail to this effect.

I would also like to declare, for the record, that I am bringing in the
four characters I ran in FWLI (T'Challa, Chantelle, "Airbourne" Angela
Klein and "Black Lotus" Patricia Sabal), and that I am going to throw
T'Challa directly into the RSPCW World Title picture.  The reason for this
is not ego on my part - I never asked for T'Challa to get a push until
people started saying they wanted T'Challa to get a push.  People are
still saying that, so I'm gonna give T'Challa a push.  I am also going to
bring in additional characters of my development, but only on a temporary
basis.  RSPCW currently has a very small talent roster, so I will "fill
out" the roster temporarily, until more people can bring (and have reason
to bring) more characters into the promotion.

RSPCW's grand tradition has always been running against the grain of other
promotions.  It is my intention to bring that spirit back to RSPCW.
Because as long as FWLI is under the command of Alex Autrey, it's always
going to be about Mr. Autrey's ego.  For those of you who want to stay
onboard the RSPCW bandwagon, hold on tight.  The road ahead is rocky, but
I'm gonna ride it warp speed, because at the end of the road, we will get
what we have coming to us.  What that is ... we shall see.

I just like the "I'm going to put my character into the world title picture, not because I want to, but because other people demand it." I'm wondering if those same people were on the roster of the promotion.

And then he goes and talks about how the other guy's ego is out of control.

Wasn't Sean Shannon the main drama causer on whatever site Scott Keith and them used to post on before Rantsylvania. Wrestleline, maybe?

I just drinking some water when I read the part about the title thing. The spittake was barely averted. ^_^

I seem remember trying to get into the FWLI when I first started. I couldn't even get a return email saying I was on "wait list".

This letter made my day!

I agree with Rog.. the world title part made me nearly choke on my soda.

EDIT: And how the hell do you RP against an opponent who's not in the fed, for six months nonetheless, without realizing he isn't around?

FWLI was my very first fed back in 96. The communication was okay in my book. The guys showed me the ropes, the matches were pretty well written and many of the characters were interesting (while others were pretty obvious carbon copies).

It was an old boys network, no question, and I of course lucked into getting into IIWF and DPW a few months later. Still, there was much worse around at that time.

I tried to use this several times in the E.

But no one would buy that there was that much hype for Maniac Jack. I don't understand!

DPW was Dor or Dawg Pound Wrestling right? That was "Bad Boy' Mark Bagwell's fed wasn't it?

I could be wrong. I do remember a DPW from back then.

I wish I could find CFWF cards from back then but I seem to have none. Maybe Bell has some.

Yes. He also came out as a cross-dressing trans-sexual. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I think this was actually Eric Lavalle's fed.. handler of "Idolizer" Trace Michaels and Christian Kingsworth. I still talk to Eric from time to time. I'll ask him next time I see him on facebook or aol chat

Right, I mean "Dawg Pound Wrestling" by Eric LaValle. I think Steve Spector got his start there, as well.
