Yeah, yeah, yeah. Spare your wisecracks.

As I posted elsewhere, I'm watching some Wrestlemanias today and I was pondering the idea that back in the day (maybe still to some degree), the WWF way of booking was to meet in the days following 'Mania, figure out the big matches for the next year's Mania, and figure out how to get there.

Let's entertain ourselves!

We're about eight months away from SuperClash V.

Pick your big matches and sketch out how to get there.

I don't think the approach works for e-w because you never know who will be around or active at any given time. (really, it didn't necessarily work in WWFE all the time)

But as far as making a game of it... lemme do this when I have more time.

That's why it's for fun! We never know when Terry will pull a Flowers!

We need Vasquez/Scott III, but I've no idea how to get there.

If you were doing that, would you do them as enemies or in a "We're allies now... but we're also the best at what we do. And a man's gotta know where he stands when he faces the best in the world" kinda thing?

Maybe like Rocky III, where Scott helps Vasquez in return for getting one more shot to beat him on his own at the big show?

A Vasquez/Scott III under those circumstances seems like a wonderful catalyst for a WMXVII moment where one of the faces gets so desperate to win to prove he's still got it, that he turns heel to achieve victory. Only...who's the Stone Cold and who's The Rock in that scenario?

Obviously Vasquez. He's never been a heel before in the AWA!

We already tried to sorta do it and the fans no-sold it!

Because he wasn't a heel! In 2009, Vasquez was the whitebread face that nine year old fans could relate to, and they loved him for it. In 2012, Vasquez was the pouting, brooding, emo man-child who thought the world had wronged him that 12 year old fans could relate to, and they loved him for it. He was never just a bad man because he wanted to be one.

Well, except for the WM X-Seven moment that you already squandered in 90 seconds at Superclash II, that the AWA has still never really recovered from. :spam:

Doran and Armstrong screwed me over! :boxing:

Lets say Juan did stay heel after SuperClash II...who would he have fought? Broussard and Stevie were gone, presumably never to return. Flowers had already pulled a Flowers. City Jack wasn't exactly back yet. Rhodes was on his way out. MAMMOTH wasn't in any real position to turn face yet. We would've had to run Koyla vs. Juan for three months and then we'd be looking at a Dufresne face turn!

That Martinez fella was kind of green at the time, but I think that Vasquez might have been able to carry that broomstick to a respectable feud.

But we had to run that ultra successful Mexi-Powers angle that Blue was 100% behind pushing as a huge deal! :spam:

Which made Robert Baldwin into that huge breakout star that carried the promotion for years!

...getting back on topic, we definitely need to make a big deal over The Streak. Even if Andy leaves us for the Real World, somebody needs to drag Calisto back to Superclash every year for as long as The Streak survives.

Doran doesn't run Dufresne, though...so we don't have to worry about random 3 month sabbaticals whenever he suddenly thinks he has to be an adult.

And I think this might be the year we finally do that 20 man tag team match!
