This show is making me even more depressed over the fact that I stopped playing this game in 1999. Even as a reader who is years behind on angles and character development, I'm enjoying the hell out of this show. I can only imagine the ear to ear smiles on the actual participants. As an outsider: kudos to all that put this together.

Well, I liked the women's match, too. But of course, how couldn't I?

I also like to thank Kyle for being the only fedhead that would ever go along with all the goofy PGE stuff I did for the entire cycle. It was all some of my most favorite things I've ever written in e-w. And Kyle even came up with a proper conclusion to the entire saga(that really had no point to begin with) for me by sticking Miyuki into the show. The MBC Olympics will always be a highlight for me.

Ummm...how to conclude this...

That'll do pig. That'll do.

The "goofy PGE" stuff was perfect for a couple reasons.

1. Got me a new handler in the league.

2. Helped me fill out the rosters of the seven territories.

3. Simultaneously, gave me something other than Pinhead/Slush that tied the territories together.

Putting Miyuki in the final match not only made sense, it needed to happen for what I thought was the sake of the overall angle.

Power of combining the Lions in Voltron, all that.

Mike was very good about not spilling the beans with Simon and COB to me, so that was another highlight there. :D

If I have one regret in the MBC, its that I never actually got to book a COB/O'Neal singles feud. If ever there was a MBC dream match...

But in terms of the tag match, Mike wanted Simon to do something on the show. I gave him a list of random ideas and he ran with it. Came out beautifully.

As for the Max Benson return, I give all the credit in the world to Robert Hutton. He told me he wasn't going to have the time to handle in the MBC due to his schedule but he liked my plan that allowed me to toss Benson overboard and have him lost at sea. Every thing with that angle stands as some of my favorite stuff to write for the cycle. And that last first round Blind stip match was tons of fun to write too.

Hey, if I'd have known things would have been so slow, I would have brought Benson back full time! :P

But anyway, great show. If this is the end of the MBC, I'm glad I got to be a part of it, even if I did just come in at the end.

Late to the party, but real life interjected and I just never got my mind going with how to approach my RPs.

I will admit that I was surprised that Kyle went with Titus to be the MBC World champion, as I had pegged Ryu Osawa being the one to win the tournament. But with that said, Kyle's booking of the tournament and how Titus came away with the belt was a logical ending -- and did give the impression that Titus had actually picked up a bit on bastardism himself and, in a sense, beat Crimson at his own game.

The Chromosomes storyline was one I definitely wanted to get wrapped up. I actually had an idea for them to cut a post-match promo explaining themselves, but I think enough could be explained for those who look into the backstory of Howie and Julie Somers. (Sure wish the MBC archives were up somewhere -- perhaps that can be how Kyle can keep MBC alive on that blog, even if it isn't new shows.)

At any rate, once I knew some of the particulars of the match itself, I knew exactly how the unmasking needed to go down. And I'm sure, somewhere, that the Somers twins are going to find a way to carry on the flagship of bastardism.

The only disappointment I have is the Grace/Hotbody feud never reached its full conclusion, but that's OK. Overall, I had fun reading the show and MBC was a great fed to be part of.

My only wish, again, is the archives go up somewhere, so I can relive the memories.

But thanks to Kyle for a fun ride.

Putting up the completed archives (including the very rarely seen Year One) has been a long term project/want. The closest I came was when I could afford hosting the MBC website. I also wanted to include as much of the old AEWA and LEW archives considering how important those feds were to the MBC.

Don't know if/when they'll go online but if any one wants them in a zip file...

In regards to the final booking of the tournament winner, I spent much time debating who would win. Almost as much as I debated who would win the women's match. Osawa and Titus would have been my next "break out stars" so I don't think I could have gone either way.

But if I didn't resolve 2x4 2008's title shot, Dro would kill me... :-)

It was a very good show, though I'm quite sad that it's going to be the last MBC show and not just because I won't get to do that Parts Unknown thing with Kiora Donavon like I wanted too. Still if this is truly the last MBC show, this show was an excellent send off.

And.. Part 2 is up! LONG LIVE MBC! BASTARDS FOREVER!

First, I'd like to thank Dro for this review and lets face it, every MBC review he's ever done. MBC shows have never commonly received a lot of public commentary or praise like most other feds (a contributing factor to the closing) so to hear it has always been a comfort. A lot of people put in a great amount of work into "MBC Forever" and their contributions to the fed should be acknowledged.

In the review, Dro touched on a lot of things that others hadn't brought up. There was a lot of emotional touchstones I wanted to hit, especially in that opening of the third hour. You do something (though admittedly with gaps) for 17 years and you're going to carry a lot with you. Storylines needed to be wrapped up. Questions needed to be answered. The whole point of a "Forever" show is closure. And I think for the most part, it delivered.

I know the MBC will never be considered the "best." My match writing is serviceable at best, only really going to the next level when I've got something crazy to play with. But I will gladly take "most fun" over "best" any day because in something that's just a hobby, "most fun" in my mind is the "best".

I know a lot of this was covered half a year ago, but once again, thank you to all my handlers for having faith in me and this goofy fed that was never quite a serious fed and yet never really a traditional comedy fed. It worked because of you guys.
