Going through the thread about worst e-w characters ever, it reminded me about the fact that I, too, have had my share of truly bad characters. And I'm sure everyone else has had them as well... hey, we all had to start somewhere.

So let's hear it... tell us about YOUR worst characters and what made them bad. Here are mine.

"El Magnifico" Juan Luis Estrada: OK, so I created a guy who was supposedly a masked luchador, but the gimmick was that he was really a Hispanic guy from East Los Angeles who wore the mask because he was paranoid the INS agents were after him for being an illegal alien. It was funny for about 30 seconds, so I guess it was a good thing the fed he was in closed just a couple weeks after I created the character. And yes, he used "Born In East L.A." as his entrance theme.

Todd "The Tower" Johnston: So I had a stable which had three sets of siblings (one brother and one sister in each) and while five of them had fairly well developed characters, this guy never did. He was seven feet tall and could do a dropkick... and yeah, that was about it. Not really a bad character, I just never really thought about his personality.

Dead Pool: An Undertaker ripoff which I created solely because another guy in the fed had an Undertaker ripoff character. This was back in the Prodigy feds, so no, I don't have any evidence of his RPs... but really, that's a good thing. Now excuse me while I run for cover now that I've copped to creating that one.

ahem.

I can't believe I'm replying to such a topic... BUT... I still get a few chuckles about my first and by far my worst character... The Archer.

He hailed from Sherwood Forest, his entrance music was the theme from Robin Hood men in tights, and his manager was Little John. He even begged and pleaded with Retribution to try and join the Undergorund in its heyday. Pathetic!

I defy anyone to top that!

Ha!

That could have been a good character if The Archer didn't beg and plead. Let him walk around with his chest out in the literal and internal sense, and that would have been The Ultimate Warrior of Good Guy Leader types. IF YA SMELL WHAT I'M COOKING!

My worst character was none of them cuz I had fun with the game wherever I was in my life.

Where to start...

Le Phe-something French that might have meant freak, but it was way back when Babelfish's translator first came out so I'm sure it meant something more like like dumpster or wounded cat. Anyway he was a smelly guy covered in rags who hung out in the sewer and talked shit about upsiders. I could probably pull something workable out of it, these days, but back then he was fucking AWFUL.

Il Vagabondaggio Amante - One of 3 Babel Fish characters I made. He was the worst. He was this crazy Italian (it's meaningful because his NAME is in Italian! YEAH!) who was obsessed with a television reporter who he claimed was his lover of destiny. Yeah. That was pretty bad, I used it in like one RP and then just... Yeah. Sucked it up a lot.

Oh! The Hand Of God! THAT was a bad character too. He was an angry archangel punishing mankind and I did these goofy ass RPs where he'd "change shape," but always in a way that was easily explained as trick photography. Oh, and he punched through a metal park bench and came out from underneath it. That was probably the worst RP I've ever written. lol

As for the third Babel Fish character, he was kinda cool and I did some cool work with him. lol

One of my first characters in e-wrestling was a guy named "The Assassin". Yes, really original name, I know. I've found some of his RPs on RSPWF, and man, they were horrid. Basically, he was a masked character who wore a full red bodysuit with black trim, and was supposed to be a real-life assassin for hire who had turned to pro-wrestling. Some of his flashes were set in his office in New York where he'd routinely fire a machine gun at the ceiling, and other such nonsense.

Actually used him in a decent amount of feds for a couple years. He had some success in Dave Pietka's old XDWF fed around '96. I brought him to IWF/WOW for a little while, and I guess I wasn't too inspired with him anymore. I remember having him cut Stone Cold rip-off type roleplays where all his sentences ended in exclamation points, and he'd usually end up trashing a locker room or beating up some random person. I tried to modernize the character later by having him drop the mask and becoming "The Assassin" Scott Canyon, who was supposed to be related to another rather mediocre character of mine called "Maniac" Jack Canyon (who had a decent run in a fed called DWO, but that was about it). Not long after that, I shelved both of those characters to focus on the Killing Machines exclusively.

El Freeko - Draw your own conclusions on what it meant. But he was a Mexican who wore a mohawk and was always depressed about being rejected by society.

Max "The Beast" Cayn - Cheap Kevin Nash knock-off who had a military background. And yes, I'm ashamed to admit who inspired him. But I was a big fan of the nWo Wolfpack at the time.

Dark Wolf (later Dante Krieg) - My first ever character. He started out as just an ordinary joe, despite being 6'8" and 278 lbs lol But then I split up him and his tag team partner 'cause I wanted to see him get pushed more. Turned him into a goth badass, and failed miserably at it.

Tommy Verhoeven: My only true comedy character. For a time it worked as part of the Natural Born Annihilators tag-team but I do not think anybody but me was amused by the stuff. There is a reason I crippled him not once, but twice for the sake of other angles.

Cancer, Gemini, and several other Zodiac-inspired characters. Not much color to them, they were just sorta ... generic. This was circa 1996. Cancer became "The Professional" Salvatore Cassanini. Sal was something of an Italian Chris Benoit, and came off as boring, even without the mask and crab designs.

Uhm, and as much as I hate to admit it ... "Ezekiel", my vengeful messiah, in EMWC, a man who spoke only in bible verse. It went poorly, although the character went on to be a manager that I still use today ... and a lawyer. Heh.

Heh, and a ton more. I've played far too many characters. Good times.

Moze Howard. I just have zero direction with this character.
Have I told you how much I loathe your continued existence today?

Too many to name here. I created way too many characters without putting enough thought into them.

Oh, that reminds me of an RSPWF thing...

It was this homeless wrestling federation thing, or, I can't remember too clearly, but there was supposed to be a "Homeless Moze" character. At one point, I replied to the HWF post with a flash of sorts, showing myself beating up bums, and looking for the bum who stole my name. Now THAT was bad...

While not a bad character, my worst character was probably Gravel. Basically, an immitation of the Jailbird Crush, complete with dread locks and a head vice finisher. He just couldn't catch on, though... so I'd say he's my worst character.

To be honest I like most of my characters but the most hated one was Amuro Balsa so I'll offer him up here. I think that one illegal immigrant guy I came up with for NEXT for like 1 or 2 shows was worse but I cant' remember his name at all so we'll stick with Amuro Balsa.

The main problem with Amuro was I had come from handling primarily in the WWA were OOC related comments and attacks in RP's were common and somewhat encouraged occasionally, pre-Jay P days. While I've been doing this for a long time now I was always out of the loop so I had no idea of how things were usually done in the RSPWF type of circle. So doing the WWA OOC styled craziness in NEO ended up ruffling alot of people the wrong way because it just wasn't cool, and I didn't know that it wasn't cool because in the WWA it was cool, see? But hey.. We live and learn.

My worst character? All of them!

Hrm, seriously, though? Of those that I handled... Either Keith Stebbins or Snob Hill. Could never latch onto anything with Stebbins - was kind of going for the downtrodden everyday man who's trying to come back from former hardships - eh. Plus, I always tried to have him deliberately wrestle sloppily & stiff in the ring, but I don't think that ever was conveyed.

Snob Hill? Well, that was just your basic cookie-cutter aristocratic... uh, snob. It's hard to normally pull off the wealthy or "cultured" wrestlers cause, well... come on, if they're uber-rich or snobs, why the hell are they wrestling? Especially in indy feds? Doesn't make any sense.
