Yeah I remember even at the time Figaro was seen as nothing more then a guy you knew his name because he was everywhere. Heck in those days a lot of guys where such as "Bad Boy" Mark Bagwell.

I knew Figaro's name because of Final Fantasy VI... had the misfortune of working with him over in the Slash. ...And speaking of Islash, Gunnar Gaines and the rest of the EWA guys really broke through while over there. They were mixing it up with EMWC greats like Spector and holding their own. This forum doesn't see a lot of Islash love, but there are characters written off as 95-97 Loop entities that in 02 & 03 were tearing it up with the cream of the crop.

I'll nominate myself as insanely overexposed... I tried to work different circles, but I'll be the first to admit VVV is a total whore, showing up constantly... probably in more closed flash feds than any other.

In terms of overhyped...

Corey Irons. Just brutal... long, tedious RPs that went nowhere and had nothing to do with the situation at hand... basically Cced from a History paper which he claimed was a metaphor for the match/situation. There were times when SPW & IGA were jobbing everyone they could find to the egomaniac... I think he had a less successful run in the E or GLCW as well.

Hannibal Carver. I know there are a lot of Rich friends on here... and my own feelings aside, he is talented. ...But Carver was a sad hannibal lector ripoff. Not the most creative entity in the world, and even if you think he was an all time great... there was a time when every post by anyone in the RSPWF circle was followed by some fanboy going TEH CARVER~! ...which is fucking retarded.

Rey Jaren & Pedro Kozaro. When the Lynch Mob was first starting out, they'd let ANYONE in (I'm charter). So based on the game LOCO & SVS could talk, you'd see their sidekicks get MASSIVE pushes. The worst offenders were Jaren - the blandest babyface you've ever read - who'd get world title pushes based on who his friends were, and Kozaro who was barely legible but what turn everything into flamewar if you didn't bow to his superior skillz.

Those are the main ones that annoyed me, but I'm sure I'll think of more. :)

I read only a little bit of IWF/WOW (great name though); I kind of wish there was someplace to read old I-Slash stuff.
Have I told you how much I loathe your continued existence today?

I-Slash put out a lot of good stuff. I always enjoyed Travers (was that his name?) He didn't seem to get that much attention outside the league. When Nelson returned and was running it there was some really good stuff being put out. Of course seeing some of the LOOP guys back in action was tons of fun.

"Epic" Eric Travers. He, d'Atrois and Razor Ron Jeremy were the only ones I could name.

I was pretty much a WWO (not that abortion that was Erin's WWO)/NWC/board fed guy so I didn't see much of anything some feds produced.

I will say an underrated fed was the ACWA; even when Moze took over there were plenty of good things coming out (hard to do with a fed head transition). I did have a very short stint in AWMC and remember going: "What the hell is a FlyKing?"

I never really followed IWF/WOW until Nelson took over, but it did have its moments. Not much is archived, and the flashshows are a complete write-off, but there are still a few... below is the last big PPV (with Thunder, Temple, Kinsey & McBaine joining up), which also has a match that had Flo pissed at me for four months.

A flyking is fishing tackle, right?

If you refer to overexposed characters, I have three words that will end that dispute once and for all:

Sabin. Rene. Figaro.

Go on... try to argue that one!

What happened to his blowoff match against Edgar Figaro? Was it a clean win, or did Kefka run out with a chair shot?

You think he'd save that stuff for a vagina match!

Exactly.

Oh yeah, Mike Sebastian. In fact...Strictly Business as a whole. Talk about two bad characters being overhyped, overexposed and overrated. First off, Sebastian was bland. But Andrew Tucker? The dude had this horrible southern accent that was beyond anything Chris Courtade ever had...but the character was from California! I think it was Santa Barbara or Long Beach. Horrible. Not only that, but their theme music as "Back dat azz up".

Yet, they had this incredibly long title run in EMWC. And I think William Craven tried to kill one of them with a katana. Their run was this huge, horrible mess that I'm sure no one wants to remember except for one of them getting superkicked with a watermelon on their head and JW Hardin broke Otto Verhoeven's neck for some reason involving them.

Reminder...this was considered the #1 tag team in e-w for a time. Yikes.

Yeah, I worked with both handlers on the team, and even today I don't recall why there was a feud between a singles guy and a team. Didn't have a lot of matches, mostly just stalking them and, more importantly, their valet. They seemed like okay guys.

Also I had Bill swinging a katana a lot back then. It just seemed more HARDCORE~! and EMWC appropriate than his bokken. He was kinda like Nord as the Berzerker in WWE. Try to chop people up, yes, succeed, no.

In retrospect the whole affair was definitely e-wrestlecrap.
And it was at this moment that the entire world realized, in unison, that tandem bicycles were AWESOME~!

I think FlyKing is another way of saying: "Counts Lights in Sky".

I ran Llwellyn Sobislaw Wawyrzniec but I think you had stepped down as fed head by that time.

Well? [Stealing topic from Seņor Bell] Who was most overhyped or overrated or overexposed that you've seen? Bonus points if you can name someone who covers all three!

I find most IIWF "legends" are insanely overhyped. If you go back and read their rps, you'll see that it's nothing but a HUGE. GIGANTIC. EYEBURNING. wall of text followed by a fade to black. I guess Spreadsbury formatting the cards is the e-w equivalent of airbrushing an ugly girl for a magazine cover.

Who are you referring to here? The only character I can think of that fits this description is "Enigma" Takezo Musashi. If you started reading one of his flashes back in 1997, you'd probably be finishing up right about now.

The thing I remember is that there was like this match with Ronnie D and Brody Thunder and in the build-up, Thunder does this completely awesome and intense rp...and Ronnie's rp was some sort of comedy rp about a vaginal cream for crabs that had absolutely nothing to do with the match. IIRC, I think this was for IIWF Forever! I mean...wtf. I think I turned against the character right then and there.

It's far from a secret that Ronnie and I have had quite the love/hate relationship but...

Even if you despise the guy, you have to admit it's kind of funny that he got his character who had (IIRC) all of one appearance in the IIWF prior to that in a fairly big match on the final IIWF show. I mean, I have no doubt that Rod had his fair share of getting that done as well but...

Come on. It's funny!

Also, as I recall the Ronnie D RP made its rounds all over other feds as well. IIRC, it was used as an ad during a WWO show.

Personally, I thought it was hilarious.
