Return of the Griffins By Jordana Camerman -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'Star Wars' spoof approved for 'Family Guy' season première The Force is strong in Stewie Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane loves Star Wars. When MacFarlane decided he wanted to do a retelling of George Lucas’ Episode IV: A New Hope for the season première of his animated series, he went the traditional route: he asked the father of Star Wars, George Lucas, for permission to make it his own. Lucas gave MacFarlance his blessing, and viewers are cordially invited to the marriage of Family Guy and Star Wars. It will take place this September. The hour-long episode’s plot involves the Griffin family bored at home during a blackout. To entertain them, Peter tells a story, which develops into the Star Wars flashback. Peter will play Han Solo, Lois will assume the role of Princess Leia, Chris will be Luke, and Stewie will star as Darth Vader. Brian the talking dog plays Chewbacca, Cleveland and Quagmire will be R2-D2 and C-3PO, and creepy old man Herbert has the role of Obi-Wan. No word on oft-overlooked daughter Meg. The spoof episode has been in the works for over a year, and MacFarlane debuted scenes from the episode at last weekend’s Star Wars convention in Los Angeles. In addition to the special season première, Family Guy will also have a two-part special marking Episode 100 in November. Published: Tuesday, May 29, 2007 |
