Thanks Kimmi! Here is more! Hope you still interested. ________________________________________________- (Andy's POV) Raven walked me through the cabin with a gun to my back, carefully checking every room, when he was satisfied, we returned to the living room and I glanced at the tarp on the window. Crap... if James called Mike, he will send a SWAT team... they would have no chance to see inside... no easy one sniper shot ending, they would have to break in... I have to be prepared to jump to safety when the time comes. I looked around in search of possible cover. It all will depend on what entrance they use... where Dave would be at that moment.. that is if, the help would arrive in time... Now, what did they say in training? Tell the hostage to get down. So, when they break in, the place between the couch and coffee table is good... the best would be to jump behind the chair, the one by the fireplace... Or... I can pretend to play along for the time being, and make a run for it and lock myself in the basement closer to the right time... Meanwhile, Dave made himself comfortable on the chair right by the corner of the window and peeked out, peeling the tape off the wall. Shit... if he keeps his eyes on the road, there's no way they can get to the cabin unnoticed. I have to distract him... He pushed the duct tape back to the wall, making it loop, leaving a small opening, and looked at me with a smirk. I have to keep his attention on me at all times. Okay.. First things first, I need to know how much time I have. “I'll tell you how I figured out your moves, but I want to know a few things first.” I looked back at him and saw his grin widen. “You want to know how much time you have?” “I held my part of the bargain, I'm here, and if we're going to talk, I need a set time limit. I don't want you to miss an important check up call with your helper, not if James' life depends on it.” I felt my heart beat faster, awaiting the answer. Dave took his time, enjoying every second of the torture, then dropped back into the chair, smiling. “Let's say you have about two hours.” “With, or without driving time?” “Without. I set a four hour wait limit, if I don't call in four hours...” Dave smirked, placing the gun barrel under his jaw, tilting his head back and making the gun shot sound with his lips. “Famous rockstar's brains all over the wall.” I swallowed and tried to push the mental image of that scenario out of my mind, but my thoughts refused to move on and I had to grip at the couch. No.... no... No! You're not going to get me... I refuse to play your games! I clenched my teeth and forcefully replaced James lifeless figure with Raven's in my mind. Much better. A faded smile slowly crept to my lips.. Now, think, if James called Mike right after my call, the help should be here in about two hours... maybe less... you're going down Raven. I swallowed my smile, pulling on an indifferent expression to cover my thoughts from my enemy's eyes. He pulled the gun down, shifting forward, his eyes narrowed wickedly. “But then again.... he doesn't need my call. He'll know to act or not... he'll see...” Dave relaxed back into the chair, twirling the gun in his hands like a toy. Wait... what? My heart skipped and all my emotions came out of hiding. Dave smile widened and he shook with silent laughter. I watched him enjoying his win, with my thoughts jumping in unison with my heart. He'll see...? “What do you mean? You lied to me?” My voice shook, betraying me further. Raven stopped laughing and sat up. “I swear, your IQ drops below average when you think of your rocker in danger. What do you think I meant? Come on, pull that mush that used to be your brains together, and think! Remember when I called? You saw me, I made sure you could see me...” I looked at his smirking face and pulled the memory of him making the call, when I was tied up, before he made me lie down on the back seat. The car door was closed, but I could see him with the phone, right in front of the window... A clear image appeared in my mind and I saw him pulling the phone out of his pocket and bringing it to his ear, his lips started moving... I played it slowly, again and again, carefully remembering all the small details. Pocket... ear... lips... There was something... something that wasn't right... something that I missed... something important... something... Wait... he never... oh, God... A lightning bolt ran through my body when I realized what I'd missed. I was played again! He never dialed the phone! Right from his pocket to his ear! Even if he pushed the seed dial button without looking, it takes time to dial... time for the call to go through... He started talking right away! How could I have missed that! HOW?! Raven lit up with another crooked smile when he read my face. “So... you're getting there... slow, too slow, but you're getting there. Yes, you're right, I pretended to make a call.” “You lied...” I trusted a criminal and he lied... why did I think he'd honor his promise? Why did I believe him? What the fuck is wrong with me? “Well... not exactly. My word stands. No one will touch him if I drive out of here, and everything is as planned. Any thought on how that could be done? Come on! Think, tell me my moves, you figured it out before, think!” My mind slowly turned with somewhat vague thoughts, that sharpened and finally took a form suitable for reading. “Your helper... he... he's somewhere... in town... he was watching us, he still there... he'll see you coming back...” Cold fingers of fear gripped at my spine. Sharp thoughts pounded in my head like a hammer. He'll see the SWAT team... he would know... and he will... I just signed James' death certificate. My heart flipped heavily in my chest and dropped painfully. Oh... God... The only way to save him is to kill Raven, get to the town, and call James... warn him... I have to figure out how to kill him... I have to... there is no waiting for help... I have no time... I have to do it myself... and I have to figure our how in less than an hour... “Finally, your brain is working again.” Raven put my gun on top of his armrest and moved his hand over it. “Now you know there's no escape, if you try to kill me, if I'm not the one driving from this cabin back in town... he's dead.” No... not if I warn James first... I have no time... I have to pull Raven off his balance and kill him. He wants me to praise his genius, he want's me to tell him how smart he is... you picked the wrong girl, you piece of shit! Time to bare my teeth. “Well, since we're speaking of IQs. You've disappointed me... you're not as smart as I thought you were. You already made your first mistake.” “Oh really? And what would that be?” His eyes narrowed and I could read a tension behind the smirk that still played on his lips. Hit one, score. “Smith's death. Only a few officers knew where he was, classified information. That move clearly pointed at a rat within the FBI, and the hunt is already on.” “Oh... that.” Raven relaxed back into his seat and I read 'hit and miss' written on his amused face. “That was just a glitch, it wasn't me, I guess someone else had a grudge against him. I must admit, that was bad timing. It took me away from you for a few days, to make everything set and ready. I don't plan on going back to the FBI. So... as you see, even if they ever pay any attention to a death-mute housekeeper, by the time they get to my house, they will find a dead end. No records, nothing to go by... no evidence, all destroyed in a fire. Everything is set and ready... one unlucky redhead is waiting for me at home in a deep, medicated coma... you know, you should never smoke in bed when you're high, it will kill you... an accidental death... As soon as I'm done with you here, one match will end it all and I'll be free.. somewhere abroad with that redhead's clean ID and millions in the bank under his name. Traveling the world on a new yacht, sipping on martinis with no worries.” Hit one... score zero. I have to try harder, hit lower... hit where it would get him... come on, Andy... think. (Mike's POV) I nervously looked at my watch and turned to James, his eyes were set on the road, hands tightly clenched on the steering wheel. I know how you feel... I feel the same. I need to talk him through it... encourage him... give him hope. I cleared my throat and broke the dead silence. “They should be there in about twenty minutes, they will see if plan A is a go and radio us. If there's a clear view through the window it all--” “The window! Fuck! How could I forget?! There's no clear shot, there's no window! It was broken during the hit and Andromeda taped it up with a tarp!” James' scream filled the car, and sent cold shivers running through my body. Oh, no... I gripped the radio, screaming at the top of my lungs. “Stop the mission!” The radio crackled and came back with Sam's voice. “Mike, what's wrong? We're about to get to the turn.” “Stop! The window is covered with a tarp. No way to see if he's watching the road. Even if you're very careful... he could see you. Just stop... We need a different plan... we need to figure out a different plan...” I let the button on the radio go and rubbed my forehead. “We need.... we need...” “We need a distraction!” Lars jumped out of the back of the car, leaving the door open, and ran across the road, then turned to us shouting. “Give me a few minutes!” I looked at James, then turned back to the window just in time to see Lars' back vanishing behind the bar door. What in the hell...? |

^^^ Thanks Kimmi! They do, as least my usual readers, like Lenne and Bo, and few new ones! Some are stopped, commenting, but I hope they still read it... But it's all cool. So, here is more! ___________________________________________________- (Andy's POV) My mind went into work mode, with my every word, I was reading Dave's face, pinpointing the slightest flinches, his eye movements, his position. Anything that would give up his thoughts and his emotions. I started from the beginning, from the first few Raven cases, the cases I only witnessed on paper, I told him what I read in those folders, told him how it all started, but the truth was, in the beginning I was not feeling him as I was at the end of the hunt, and Dave picked up on that. His face stayed cold, he almost seemed to be bored. I moved on to the cases for which I went to the crime scenes, describing what I saw and what I thought. Raven's face turned with a self-absorbed amused grin. I could read that he took pride in those killings. He clearly enjoyed to see his crimes through someone else's eyes. Stroking his ego was definitely not the right way to go for me... I switched to the Scorpion cases, his grin degraded to a disrespectful smirk. Not so interested in those cases are we? Not the best of your work... more like failing... Time for hit two, time to take you off your high horse. “So, you think you're God's right hand, giving 'clearing of sins' deaths to the guilty... you're pleased with their sacrifices, it gives you pleasure, it reassures you that not everyone chooses his life instead of his family... That not everyone is like your father.” I watched Raven's face turn hard as a stone, just a second of true emotions and it all went back to the usual smirk. I got you! Hit two, score, this time is a definite score! “My father was a piece of shit, not worth living.” “So you're just a pathetic 'daddy didn't loved me' type, as simple as that.” It was my turn to smirk. Dave slowly rose up from his chair, taking a step toward me, and I stood up, looking strait into his eyes, noticing that he left my gun on the armrest. “He was my first kill. It took some time to find him, all happy with a new family... ” His face turned into a mask of hatred, eyes as charcoals, burning with hate, lips thin and tightly pressed. His voice changed to a slither. “I made him watch when I killed his kids and wife. I took my time, making them scream in pain, waiting for him to ask to spare them, but all he was pleading about, was his worthless life. He died very painfully. I enjoyed every moment of it.” How... just one quick move... push him a side and get the gun... My body tensed up ready to jump into action when a sudden noise of the an engines interrupted my thoughts. Raven flew to the window, hiding behind the chair and grabbing the gun. The cars got closer, engines stopped, and a loud drunk voice invaded the mountains. “I told you this place is focking perfect! Look at all this!” “I don't know... seems a bit empty, no people around...” A whiny girl's voice followed. “Hey, you have us, we're people! We can run around naked no one will see... hehehe...” A different male voice giggled. “I like this idea! I feel soooo hot!” Another female voice and loud laughter. “Woohooo! I want to make a snow angel!” A third girl's voice joined her friends. “I'm helping!” A third male voice rose over the muffled music from the car stereo. “What the fuck is this? Tourists? ” Raven pulled me into a arm-lock and looked back out the window. I tried to slow down my jumping heart. Really? Is it just tourists or...? All I could see from my position was a part of the blue SUV and a long curly black haired guy with his arm around the girl in a bright pink ski jacket. No... unless FBI started to recruit guys with a long hair... they just civilians. Wrong place, wrong time...civilians. I tried to pull closer to see more, but Dave pushed me down. Something shining in the light from the window got my attention, and I saw a two faced medallion that fell out of Dave's shirt and was dangling in front of my face. A scorpion on one side with the word Patris under it, and raven on the other with the word Mater. Father... and Mother... Father is a scorpion, deceiving, sneaking... not deserving of clean death... Raven is a Mother... sacrifice... Mother is a sacrifice... his Mother... Dave straitened up and pushed me aside. “Fucking drunk yuppies!” “Another mistake? Did you think the other cabin would be empty at this time of year? It's a rental, unlike this one, and it's a ski season... How will you kill me now, with them around? They will hear the shot and there's at least six of them, against one of you?” “Just bad timing, that's all.” He smirked, looking back out the window, then turned to me, clearly not interested in the newcomers any longer. My hope slowly faded. If Dave didn't get suspicious seeing more than I did, they were just tourists... on one side it's great news, I have more time, on the other... what if he decide to kill them all? I looked at Raven, trying to read his mind and he smirked, reading my fear for our new neighbors in my eyes. “You will cooperate, to spear their lives, you'll just have to help me and hold a pillow to muffle the shot. With all that noise they making, I doubt they'll hear anything. If they do... too bad for them... if they just shut up and get busy with each other, I'll leave them alone. ” As an answer to his words, loud scream followed from outside. “I'll fire up the grill! Hey Susan, bring that stereo here and turn it up!” I barely held a sigh of relieve. That all could be for better... if I win... at least I'll have a different car to drive, so Raven's helper wouldn't get suspicious... The loud music blasted out of speakers in the middle of the oh-so-familiar song and my heart stopped, flying all the way to my throat. “Who made you God to say, I'll take your life from you? Flash before my eyes, Now it's time to die Burning in my brain, I can feel the pain Wait for the sign, To flick the switch of death It's the beginning of the end Sweat, chilling cold, As I watch death unfold Consciousness my only friend...” James... Not civilians! It couldn't just be a coincidence! Oh, God... Raven's helper must've seen the SWAT team making all the preparations in the town... he's going to act... He could be on his way to airport right now... I have no time... I have to act now. “So, should we watch them to get all naked and drunk or should we move on? Time is running out you know. And I have more to say if you interested.” “Well, I guess I can just be satisfied with your body. Watching you undress, care to start? As you said, the time is out.” Raven's smirk gestured me back to the couch, but I didn't move, trying to very carefully calculate my next words and moves. This is it. |

And a little bit more. ------------------------------------------------------ (Sam's POV) After rockers, and newly founded unexpected helpers, stepped out and started their show, me and Fred carefully shifted in the back of the vehicle, making sure we stayed below the windows. I have no idea how Lars talked those girls into it, and I don't care. We got here, we were in position, no shots from the cabin, the second car loaded with the rest of the team. Who knew you could fit so many people into just two SUVs... I need to remember it for the future. Okay, so far so good. One of my man, playing part of the distraction, assessing the situation from the outside. I must admit, the idea was brilliant. Pretending they're renting the other cabin, no suspicion on Raven part, just loud, drunk civilians, as he would see them, as for Andy... that James fellow better be right. I hope she got our signal and knows who we really are. Time to act. I pulled the infrared binoculars to my eyes and scanned the cabin. Two figures, both standing... both bright red... I breathed out, she's okay. None of them too close to the window at the moment, but who knows if Raven has a way to keep an eye on us. Fucking tarp... that would be a perfect view... shit, we have only the kitchen window to work with. I picked up the radio and whispered. “She's okay.” Mainly that meant for Mike and James in the other car. I had a hard time letting them join us, I could only hope they'd stay put. I looked back into the binoculars and whispered to Fred. “He's on the left side of the kitchen window, Andy is on the right.” He got hold of the sniper rifle and took a minute to scan the view into the house. “I can see Andy... she's looking right in front of her, Raven must be right there... shit. He's covered by the corner of the kitchen wall. I have to move to the front seat, and see if that gives me a better view.” I move the radio to my lips. “We're going to change position. No one leave the car, not sure if we're being watched.” Mike's voice answered back. “Sam... don't do anything unless you're sure, she's in the safety zone.” “Don't worry Mike, I know what I'm doing.” My heart steadily beat somewhere in my head, pulsating in my temples. She's okay... for now... we're here... one shot and it will be over... come on Fred. As an answer to my thoughts, Fred whispered. “I have a partial view of his shoulder...” I watched his finger slowly pressing on the trigger. Come on Fred... one shot... do it with one shot... “Shit... Andy is in the line of fire. She's too close to him, the bullet will go through and hit her... I don't have a clear shot. Come on Andy move... just a bit.. just slightly to the side... Fuck... he stepped behind the corner again.” Fred's finger flew off the trigger and he turned to me. “Sam, we'll have to go in. He's not watching us now.” I kept my eyes on two red figures, whispering into the radio. “It's a go for plan B. One at the time, on my mark... go.” Tim got out of the car and I turn my attention back to the binoculars, making sure Raven's thermal image standing still. Tim swiftly moved to the front of the our car and got on the ground. Raven's figure shifted and I hold my breath. “Stop! He's moving. Wait for my signal.” Andy... you should know what to do. Get his attention... hold on, help is coming, just remember to get down, to get yourself clear. Man, I wish I spend more time training her... |

Thanks Kimmi! As promised, the last chapter. After this I'll post an Epilogue and this is over. Thanks for reading and joining me for the ride. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Andy's POV) I need to find the way to keep his attention on me, talk... just talk... and when the time comes dive down. I barely held myself from looking around for the best possible cover. “I thought, as you first female kill, you would let me die with my dignity, or are you just a perv?” “Hm... but you look so nice naked... shame to deprive myself from the pleasure... so lets start. Slowly and carefully.” Raven's lips slid into wicked smirk as he raised his arm with a gun, stopping at the level of my head. Fuck no! Not going to happen! His hand's too far for me to just grab it... Shit... if the SWAT team breaks through the door now, I'm dead... I need to make him lower his weapon. “I'm not a kill by profile, I don't need cleansing.” Raven's helper is probably on the way to James... I need to act faster! I need a fucking miracle. Wait... what if James on his way here? What if he's already here? No... no, he couldn't get here so fast... no... The only way to know is to end this, I have to do something fast, think Andy! Father is a scorpion... Mother is Raven... sacrifice... Mother is sacrifice... she's... different from other women... “Fine. Any last words or regrets?” Last words... yes, I have last words. Hit three... if I miss on that one... I lifted my chin, looking into my enemy's eyes. “No, no regrets. I would do it again. I'll sacrifice my life for a loved one in a heart beat. Just like any other honorable women would... Just like you mother did.” I spoke and held my breath. Raven's hand shook, his face turned with a painful memory. Score! My last chance... I have to make him talk... I have to make him lower his gun. “Since, I'm about to die... I have a last request, we do have a few minutes...” “What kind of request?” “Tell me how she died... tell me your story.” Raven stepped back, looking at me with an internal battle written all over his face, and for a second the barrel went down just a few inches, but he raised it back up. Fuck... I have to make him talk. Please guys, not now... not yet... They should see us in the infrared... they should see him holding a gun at me... they're not going to break in... meanwhile time is running and the hitter is closing in on James. I have to hurry... “No one will ever know... your secret will die with me.” I tried to look as sincere as I could, despite my heart jumping in my chest. Dave stood frozen for a second, then slowly spoke up, leaving the gun pointing at me. “My Mother died saving us, me and my unworthy brother. My father played with the wrong people, when the heat was on, he took all the money and ran, leaving us at the mercy of the Mafia. We were hiding in some cheap rental house when they found us. My Mother... she... she did everything she could, pulling the attention of the hitters away from me and my brother... She was giving us a chance to run and hide... we did... but we chose the wrong place... we hid in the closet... the gangsters dragged her in the bedroom and we had to watch her be beaten and raped right in front of us. When they slit her throat, my brother ran out screaming and uncovered our hideout... he ruined everything, he ruined everything she did for us! The police arrived a second too late... My mother was dead, my brother was shot... fucking idiot survived... but he will get his pay back... it will all end soon. Did I tell you we're twins?” Twin brother... 'one unlucky redhead, to play my role'... he's planning to kill his own brother and take his identity! So that is how monsters are born... out of pain and brutal cruelty... Somewhere deep inside I felt sorry for this screwed up man, and I saw a scarred little boy in front of me. His mind was looking for a way to erase his pain and found it in this twisted and misplaced revenge... he witnessed a horrible crime, witnessed his mother's death, and he couldn't cope with it... he couldn't survive as a victim. He never told anyone... he never gave anyone chance to help him... He didn't see any other way but to become the stronger one, the one with the power... he became those men. A victorious smile appeared on Dave's lips before the gun in his hand covered his face from my view. I looked back into his eyes, and the scared redheaded child disappeared, replaced by a mature killer with no regrets. I saw all the innocent people and children who died to satisfy his thirst for blood.... No... you don't deserve my compassion. “Now, slowly turn around, take a pillow and hold it to your head if you still care about the lives of those fuckers.” Okay Andy... it's now or never, he's ready to fire. I turned, pretending to look for a pillow, and like a spring jumped, stretching my hands to Raven's arm with the gun, but I underestimated his strength and his mind. He knew exactly what I was going to do and he was waiting for it. The heavy metal of the gun burned my jaw, knocking me down and I fell over the coffee table on the floor by the couch. The table flew aside under the angry hands of the mad man and his boot painfully longed into my side. “You bitch! You don't care about anyone! You're just like my father!” I tried to stand up, but another kick sent me back down to the floor, my hand twisted, sliding under the couch and I felt my fingers stumbling on something cold. My hand moved along the metal and almost jumped at the realization of what miracle I'd just found. The knife that I kicked under the couch when James came over! I gripped at the handle, looked up, and in one quick move hid my hand with the weapon under my head. Raven stepped closer, towering over me, and the hatred ridden face growled. “You don't deserve a clean death!” My fingers tightened around the throwing knife. Time to end this... Concentrate! Think of hitting the target... he's too far for a stretched arm strike... it has to be a throw. Concentrate... target... hit the target... Raven's eyes narrowed and his mouth twisted with repulsion, as he spit in my direction, lowering his gun for a second. “I'm going to tell him how you betrayed him, I'll make sure he knows who is to blame in his death. Then, I'm going to kill him. Painfully, agonizingly slow, I will cut out his still beating heart, and--” No! My hand moved forward on it's own, sending the silent weapon into the face of my enemy. I saw my black Jack Ripper knife crossing the distance between us, and embedding itself all the way into Raven's left eye. His face turned with surprise and his hand jerked up as he was falling, a bright loud flash lit the room. The lightning entered my head, setting it on fire, exploding inside of it, turning everything red. Time stopped, crimson fog burst with bright lights, dark figures moved in. I turned my heavy head to the side and saw a crooked smile on Raven's dead lips. His right eye was wide open, looking up at the ceiling. A stupid line from my favorite movie popped up in my clouded mind. Yippee ki-yay, motherfucker... Loud buzzing flooded my brain and the room suddenly turned freezing cold, it became hard to breathe, my heart started to race. The buzzing increased, turning into an ear-piercing high pitch. “Andy!!!” Someone's scream pushed through, followed by other voices. Flashes painfully blazed my eyes, drowning sounds and images in deepened red. Cold crept over my body, paralyzing it, turning it numb. “Men down! Get the chopper here ASAP!” Someone dropped on their knees beside me. I have to tell them... I pooled together all of my quickly fading strength. “The hitter... after James... tell Mike... Dave's house... his brother...” My lips whispered to a figure by my side. “I got it Andy... I got it all, don't talk... just, stay with me...” A familiar voice whispered back. “Tell James... I...” I barely pushed the words from my suddenly dry mouth. All sounds became distant, and breathing became to hard of a chore, as if air around me turned too thick. “Andromeda... Oh, God... no...” The most dear voice on this planet whispered by my other side and strong hands pulled me closer. James... I opened my eyes, only to see a red blur. I know it's him... he's here... he's okay... I clung to the slipping reality, desperately pushing through the haze. My heart speed up, trembling inside of the cold ring that was closing around it, squeezing it, choking it. “I tried... I didn't win--” I felt my heart jitter, seizing in it's last attempts to free itself from the tightening grip, and a heavy black curtain fell over my mind, melting everything into nonexistence. ------- My weightless body was floating in a bright milky substance that was surrounding me, and it slowly slipped away, uncovering everything around. The red was gone, and I saw everyone around me moving in absolute silence. Sam ran by, his mouth moved as he screamed something to the people outside the cabin, then he stopped and looked at something behind me. I turned and saw James walking to me with someone's body in his arms, Mike by his side holding a bloody towel against the figure's head, both of their faces covered in tears. What happened? Why are they...? I looked closer at James' arms and froze at the sight of long, dripping, bloody blond curls. That's... that... oh God... how is it possible? I'm here... I'm... James passed right through me and the pain that was written on his face twisted my heart. I turned to follow him and screamed to his back. “I'm here!” A vacuum consumed my voice, and no one even looked in my direction. No... If that's me... and I'm here... that means... No! It can't end like this! I raced outside and saw James lowering my lifeless body to the ground, dark red drops spreading on the white snow while his blood covered hands desperately tried to keep pressure on the wound. Sam dropped to his knees, rhythmically pressing my chest, his lips moved and I read. “Don't give up! Fight dammit, fight!” “I... I don't know how...” I whispered and gripped to my own body, in desperate attempt to get back in, but my fingers went right through it. No! I need to fight! I need to get back! I tried hold on to something hitting the air again and again, and screaming at the top of my lungs. “No! I want to live!” James bend down, blowing air into my lungs and when his head rose up I saw the blank blue stare of my own eyes, right in front of me. No... it can't be the end... I need to... oh God... I'm dead... James tear dropped down on my face, washing blood off my cheek. I looked at his grief stricken face and whispered. “I don't know how to stay... I don't know how to get back in... I'm sorry...” I lifted my hand and tried to wipe his tears, but once again my fingers touched empty air. “I love you...” Sam changed positions with Fred and I looked up at the faces of people around me, some I knew, some I didn't, all with the same sad expression on their faces. I'm dead... I didn't win... The good guys only survive in the movies... not in real life... Two guys pulled a body bag through the door, lowering it on the ground and right before they closed the zipper all the way up, I saw my killer's dead grin in the frame of red main. “You took your last victim Dave... the last victim...” A sudden wind swirled the snow around, I looked up and saw the slowly rotating helicopter blades and beyond them sky... so clear, still light, and somehow already full of stars... bright big stars... I never seen anything like that... so mesmerizing... so wicked... too wicked...

Thank you Kimmi so much! Thank you for reading, thank you for commenting, thank you for liking it. Means a lot to me. Love you! And now... the end. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Epilogue. April 21, 1999. The Berkeley Community Theater. (Mike's POV) The lights flickered before going off and I mentally prepared myself for the loud, racketing noise. A late thought entered my mind. What the heck am I doing here? I hate this kind of music! Maybe we should leave before it all starts... I looked at my wife and Doris' hand tightened around mine as she leaned her head in towards me, whispering. “It'll be okay... we owe Andy this much.” I sighed in answer and turned my attention to the stage. The Ecstasy Of Gold filled the theater and I breathed out, bracing myself for what would come next. James came out on stage, bringing with him a hammering guitar riff and I almost closed my ears, mentally snapping at myself for not bringing earplugs. As the concert went on I kept my eyes on James, watching different sides of him unfold in front of me, being pulled into the atmosphere of screaming fans. I must admit, it wasn't that bad, better than I expected. Some songs almost deafened me, others were less noisy and almost listenable. The only constant thing that I liked was the deep lyrics. I was glad there were no shameful and shallow songs about sex and no whiny cries for lost love. Lots of swear words made me uncomfortably glance at my wife, reading her reaction, but she was clearly enjoying herself and soon I relaxed enough not to feel out of the place in the sea of much younger people. The next song started with a slow melody followed by James' softened voice, and as I listen to the words my mind took me back to the cold horrid day in December. My heart skipped painfully as I remembered Andy's bloody listless body on the snow, and a little tear slowly crept over my cheek. Suddenly I got what Andy saw in him, she saw this hidden side of him, this big heart, she saw beyond that 'make believe' facade of a bad boy... My wife pulled my hand, making me turn and whispered into my ear. “It's beautiful...” “He's not that bad... a bit loud and fast, but this song's okay.” I whispered back and she smiled at me. “That's a high compliment from you. Are we secretly adopting him?” “I think we already did. We're here aren't we?” I sighed. (James' POV) I pulled my shirt on, feeling my tense muscles slowly relax after the refreshing shower. A smaller arms slid on my sides and long dark hair swung around, tickling my arm, while soft lips whispered into my shoulder. “It was amazingly beautiful! And awesome and so... what's the word? Cool! Absolutely cool!” “I'm glad you liked it.” I turned, and saw big blue eyes looking at me with amazement. “I loved it!” “So I deserve a reward for my hard work...” I slowly slid my fingers through the black locks, my grip tightened, pulling them down firmer. “James, don't! Not here!” Her hands rushed to mine, holding the hair. “I like it that way.” I pulled the dark locks all the way down and my free hand ruffled through the short blonde curls. “I have to wear it for now, till my hair grow back and to hide the scar...” She picked up the wig, turning it in her hands. “Trust me, no one can see it.” I traced my fingers under her hair, feeling the slightly raised skin, my heart sunk with the painful reminder of the most horrible day of my life. I swallowed the lump in my throat and whispered. “You look great.” “You're just saying that 'coz you love me, but you know how hardheaded I am, and I'm not just talking about this metal plate in my skull. I know I look like a three year old with these idiotic curls.” Andy smiled and I pulled her into my arms. “You look like...” “I'll hurt you if you say Shirley Temple.” She glared at me and I barely held my laughter. “I was going to say Marlin Monroe...” (Andy's POV) “Nice save, but I know what you were thinking.” I playfully twisted James' arm behind his back and he winced. “Ouch! Wow, Sam really whipped you into shape!” “I know! He said you don't have to be bigger or stronger to overpower someone.” I giggled and let him go. “I doubt you'll ever need that though...” He caught me by my waist and pulled me back into his arms. “Well... you never know...” I bit my lip and looked at him with a playful smile. I might... “I'm guessing he doesn't know about it yet.” Mike's voice interrupted my thoughts. I didn't notice him and his wife entering the dress room. Shit... he just had to do that. I know you hate this idea, Mike, but pulling James on your side is so not fair. I haven't told him anything … yet... “I don't know what?” James looked at Mike and turned back to me. Oh fuck... “I was planning to tell you... later...” When it's all done, because I know your reaction... I glared at Mike and he gave me a wicked grin. “Why don't you tell him now, before you're officially signed up, and see that he has to say about it. I think he has a right to know.” “Know what?” James pulled away from the hug, gazing into my eyes. Oh crap... “It's nothing really, just a new job offer.. like a part time thing, nothing important.” I pulled him closer, lowering my head to his chest, but he pulled away, narrowing his eyes at me. “Andromeda, what kind of job?” “Sam offered me a spot on his team and--” “On a SWAT team? Hell no!” “Just as a negotiator. I'm going to negotiate hostage releases, just talking over the phone or a radio, away from the action, in safety, that's all...” I looked back at James and glance at Mike with a plea. “In safety? That doesn't sound so bad...” James turned to Mike and I saw it in Mike's eyes, he wasn't going to give up, he was going to sell me out. “Most of the time, negotiators talk remotely, but sometimes they go in, offering themselves in exchange for the hostage.” “Oh, hell no! No fucking way! Over my dead body!” “James, I can help people, I can save lives!” “Fuck no! You're not doing that!” “James...” “No, no fucking way!” “It's my decision, not yours!” “Well, we should get going... it was a great concert, surprisingly I enjoyed it.” Mike gave me a wining smile and came closer for a goodnight hug. “Mike, I hate you.” “I had no choice, you wouldn't listen to me, maybe you'll listen to him.” He turned and shook James' hand. “I'm glad we came, it was good. Good night.” “Thanks. Night.” “Sorry Dear, I asked him not to say anything... but he's as stubborn as you are...” Doris released me from a hug and shook her head with a smile. “I knew he wouldn't let it go so easily...” “Good night, James! Thank you for the wonderful music, I enjoyed it.” Doris wrapped her arm around Mike's elbow and they walked to the door, both smiling. James closed the door behind them and turned to me. I looked at his face and sighed. Oh hell... I stepped closer, but he made his way to the chair and sat down, not looking at me. Oh great, I ruined his big day... all Mike's fault! Goddammit! I walked to James and pulled on his arm. “James...” “Fuck no!” “James..” “Fuck!” “James, look at me...” “Fuck...” “Repeating that word won't make it a valid argument.” “Oh, really? Then I'll just have to... make it a valid argument.” He looked at me, pulling me onto his lap. “It's impossible.” I melted under his lips, which nibbled on my neck. “If I turn it into an action, then it's possible.” His fingers slid under my shirt, making me shiver in his demanding hands. “You're good, but it's... not going to work. I want this job and I'm going to do it.” My mind fogged, drifting in the bliss of desire. “We'll see about that, I bet you won't.” His lips found mine. “I bet I will.” I whispered into his lips, diving into a tender kiss. “Nope, you care a lot about peoples' lives, you're not going to put one in danger on purpose.” His lips let go for an answer and came back more commanding . “I'm not putting anyone in danger...” I barely breathed out. “Not yet... as I sad, I'll turn that word into a valid, unfuckingbeatable argument. And I'll start working on it right now, right this minute. It'll work, trust me... it may take a few tries, but it'll work...” His fingers worked the buttons on my shirt open, somehow I never noticed when he managed to open my bra. My hazed mind gripped at his words and the meaning of them. “I lost you...” “Good. Then I have the upper hand here, for once.” His hands ran over my skin. “James... that's not going to change my mind...” I breathed out in a gasp when he pulled me closer, my hands slid to his zipper and he moaned at my touch. “I bet it will...” “James... we can't... not here...” My dazed mind finally got clear enough to remember that we were still in the dressing room. “We can...” He pressed my hands to his hardened flesh, sending shivers through my body. My hazed mind turned, battling with my consciousness. “James... we're in... someone could see... this is public indecent exposure... compromising my clean record will not make me change my mind...” My fingers froze for a second, waiting for my bewitched mind to give the command. But my body took over, releasing them to run to the desirable flesh. “No one will see us, I closed the door, and that's not what I'm doing...” He balanced me in his arms, quickly sliding his pants down. His hands pulled my skirt up and pulled me closer in one possessive move. “What are you doing, then...?” I could barely understand the words, taken away in a strong wave of desire to let him in. Please... whatever you're doing... just take me... take me right now... I can't believe the power this man has over me... “I'm working on my argument... You wouldn't put our child in danger, would you?” James' answer blew over my ear and made me open my eyes, my lips let the gasp out, melting in a wicked smile of blue eyes. “Oh... James...” THE END.
