![]() Some of you may of been interested in what this new game is (via my new signature image), while most probably didn't care, but anyway - to explain a little. Space Crawlers is a new small project I will be working on. It initially started a month or so ago when we started this forum reform, but due to personal matters, I havn't had the time to actually start anything. But now, that time has freed up, and hopefully all is resolved my end, I can start working on this. So, you may be wondering what this game is about? It won't be my usual Conquer style of game (to those who don't know, I usually make games such as Dynasty Warriors Conquer China). This will be an action adventure game, focusing on exploration, story-telling, and character development. As you can probably assume, by the name of the game, this game will be set in space. It will be set in the future too, and the story, planets, and all that will be fictional. I plan to focus the game mainly on roleplaying, and it will allow player versus player too, though I havn't dolved into how exactly that will play out yet. As for battle systems, and generally, how the game will play out as the player, I have some ideas to encorperate a dungeons and dragons style system, which I will tell more about when it has been developed more (I'll probably whip it up on the blog sometime). Anyway, that's generally it for now, if there's any questions, I'll be happy to answer what I can. For a release, don't expect anything this year. Also, if anyone's interested in giving me a hand developing the game, let me know also - as right now it's just me, myself and I. |

Sounds pretty cool. Seeing as how you're basing this partially on D&D, I'm guessing they'll be stats etc? |

Yeah, stats will be included, though I don't know exactly what stats yet (nor there functions). |

For Roleplaying purposes, can characters travel as a military group looking for like a certain "goal" (such as a certain material that could develop.. let's say.. produce something) so that the players can develop relationships (which to me, is critical because it pulls you into playing the game). Or maybe travel as a group of scientist exploring the unknown with some bodyguards. Scientist being less of the violent players (which also depends on the player) and more into their findings while the bodyguards could act like they are in it for the money or loyal bodyguard with feelings for a certain player character they are protecting. Or even space "pirates" just wanting to loot spacecrafts and cities that they come into contact with? Maybe those are bad examples. Basically, what I meant was.. are we all not connected in the beginning or is there a chance for some characters to already know each other? For a D&D style gameplay, it would be cool if we can set-up character backgrounds as well as have most players start in a certain city on a certain planet and branch out from there. Players who are "loners" could be passing through the city (so they can start there), while a military group of players could be placed there for a meeting of some sort, while the exploring scientist could be there to analyze data. Ect. I know that is bad examples, again. But it gives a chance for players to interact before going on their little adventures instead of randomly placed players throughout the space system who might never come into contact due to their adventures, ect. Of course, the meeting players might want to stick together to further that one's (or group's) goal (which could be whatever floats their boat even if it might be far-fetched). Hmm, I havn't really thought too much about that type of thing. But I was thinking perhaps, there would be a couple (or even just one) planet(s) where everyone starts on. Classes and such will definatly play a major role in character development, so I would say really, there will definatly be a chance for everyone at the start to interact, team up, declare rivalry, or whatever. Though I can't guarentee anything at this early stage (as I've literally just started proper development yesterday), but I'd love to make this a very deep game, without it being too complicated. I have some map ideas set up, which right now is looking at around 10 planets so far, and still decideing if the game will be based around just one solar system, or several - but with this type of game, I guess we could start off small, then expand later on. |

I am really sorry about bogging you down with questions and ideas. 10 planets to me is a very good amount of planets (that can vary from a jungle type planet with exotic friendly (maybe obtain a cute pet, specimen, or guardian) and hostile animals varying to a planet void of most everything yet has underground community of a certain race that has not surfaced yet which can be friendly or hostile depending on the player characters arriving on the planet. Hostile actions could reap benefits as taking over the planet's resources, ect (for evil players) or friendly actions can prove to be helpful in things such as purchasing products, ect which can effect player characters in the whole community so the areas do not become stale as in, "Oh, we explored the whole thing, nothing new, next planet". Maybe future players could encounter those beings underground and be attacked because of the past relations with another group of PCs. Is races also included? Like a race being born a planet with harsh (lava-type) are more resistent to fire? Or beings born on planets with gravity are better adapt at planet-type situations while beings born in space colonies or ships will be better adapt in space environments such as driving a spacecraft, ect. x_x Sorry for this, so many ideas popping out of my head, just putting it out there for you to think on. Of course, I will understand if none of that stuff is implemented in your game. I would so help you if I could

Ina "Castle Defender" If Ina can use this skill to insure that no enemy troops can overrun any structures that she is defending for 3 turns. Damage done to the evil shaped one, too massive to compare. Balmung of the Azure Sky, Orca of the Azure Sea, together they gallop at full speed. In the depth of my bosom, your names shall remain. You are none other than the descendants of Fianna. | |

We are working on having a good variety of races, though we are going for quality over quantity. So with that, there will be less races, but they will be far more unique. Ships and such we havn't gotten into much yet, but I'll say we aim to allow a lot of variety in the ways you can create your character and travel. |
