Hello everyone! I thought that the idea of a MC server deserved it's own thread, and I thought of a poll that would many of the topics already mentioned before! Remember to post you opinion in the comments, as well as any information you would like to share to Scope about Minecraft servers! Note: You can choose up to 6 options in the poll. I would definitely donate and submit an application. $5-$10 is easily doable and the application process will prevent users who wish to harm the server to join. Running a MC Server is definitely not cheap if you go through an official host, so everyone pitching in isn't too much to ask in my opinion. However, there are some younger fans who may not have access to a Credit Card/PayPal account that they can use to donate, and I don't think they should be excluded just because of that reason. Anyone who applies should be allowed to join, but donors deserve priority. |

I understand the point of how younger fans may feel left out, but most people can fond some way to earn $20, and then buy themselves a VISA gift card If they can't, it's not a loss, because they could apply. I find it sort of a good idea that younger fans would have to apply rather then just donate, because then they can still be checked if they are mature enough to join, or if they would jut cause grief.___ And yeah, the majority of the donations go to the cost of the server ![]() The following is an over estimate of how money would be used: I think for a good server it costs around $30 a month? Scope has around 15,000 subscribers. At the very most, I'd say maybe 200 might join the server. If you had to pay $10 for entry, then the total amount of donations would be $2,000. Assuming it's $30 per month, ($360 per year) then the remaining amount of money would be: $1640. Again, not sure about the price of the server; It may be more expensive; But over all it could probably work

There's always the issue of parents not wanting their kids to pay for things online. My parents aren't like that, but some are. However, that problem is solved through the application process. So I think that issue is taken care of ![]() I think your estimate is correct, which is awesome! We could have an epic server and Scope could have some extra cash. Even if entry was only $5, that would still leave $640 leftover. I think this all sounds great. |

I would donate a few bucks to help support the server, seems like a fun idea to bring all the fans together besides just the streams. |

I gotta say that even 200 seems to be pushing it a little bit, but the donate/apply option seems to be the best one on the table. However, that would then put the onus on Scope (or anyone he delegates) to evaluate all the applications. That would likely be a mountain of work, since if even ten percent of his 15k+ subscribers applied, he would have about fifteen hundred applications to look at and he'd have to discard almost all of them. This is what makes me hesitant about the entire idea. However, if there was a rotation of applicants, so that each time the server was up new people could join, then that would alleviate some of the problems of exclusivity. I think it could be great for dedicated fans, but at the same time would constitute a mountain of work. I guess I'm really on the fence about it. |

Yeah, I thought so too, 200 is pushing it, but I said so in the post. Even if was only 100 users, that's still a profit $640. With the applications, he could always ask some other people to ask him to help. And Scope should say that he won't be accepting everyone, and explain that he can't have 1,500 people on a server. His fans would understand

Assuming it's a whitelisted server, we don't necessarily have to review applications EVERY time people are allowed to join the server. We could add those who we accept on to the whitelist, and if there's a spot open on the server you'll be able to play. It would be first come first serve. If the server is full you're out of luck until someone leaves the game. This way, anyone who has been accepted through the application process has a fair chance at joining the server at any point in time. |

I don't think that's completely fair since they already donated, and yeah, of course we wouldn't go over the applications at specific times, it would be a continuous thing

This is where my idea of a rotation comes in: If each time the server is up, new fans whose applications have been accepted/who have donated the appropriate amount but who haven't actually made it onto the server are allowed on and those who have already been on are turned away, there would be greater inclusion for the community. |

Don't forget, if they aren't accepted before, why would they be accepted after? There's a reason for why the wouldn't be accepted, and that reason will still remain. Either wise the point of applications would be pointless. |

You misunderstand. In all likelihood, many more people than can be on the server at one time will be accepted. Then, the rotation comes into play. Been on before? Not this time, let those who've been approved but have not yet been on enjoy some action. And so on. |

There's really no way to monitor that though, assuming the server is constantly up. If the server is always running, anyone who is on the whitelist will be able to join if there's a spot open. However, if Scope only opens it sometimes and announces it here or on twitter, then the rotation would make sense. |

That's what I was assuming. If it's just up and running all the time, then it would almost certainly be first-come, first-served. |

Wouldn't it just make sense to have the server bigger? As in 100 people could go in at a time? The $30 servers have that... |
