The question is, how could a KDL2 avoid the lousy sales of the original? First thing would be, of course, would be to push the product through blitzy advertising. Get the word out, let people know this cool new game is on the way. Ad campaigns have helped otherwise mediocre games do well saleswise. Another thing would be the graphics. Since a Kya dark lineage would probably appear on the next generation of consoles, a leap in graphical wuality is assured. But I'm talking about the rather cartoonish-like visual of the game. If the sequel follows suit, the look may turn away casual gamers. I don't think it should be entirely realistic, but maybe look a bit grittier and edgier next time around. Also, there's the gameplay. Atari and eden games would have to make it so that people will want to buy the game on release day, just from playing a short demo at a store. Not only that, there's E3; make what's shown so unbelievably good the website and magazine editors rave about it for months. And for that, I think there's one aspect of the game that'll have to be beefed up: combat. For me, the fighting in KDL was a bit unfulfilling. Atari and eden games would have to tweak and rework the combat engine so that it's more fun and rewarding, intregated into the overall game better, and most importantly, much more frequent. Let's face it, violence sells. That's not to say a sequel should scale back on exploration and stealth puzzles. On the contrary, the stealth aspect should be beefed up too. Gamers these days seem to like stealthy antics to go along with their action. And what's Atari's and Eden games biggest cash cow right now? Exactly. Another thing that would help would be to NOT call the game ' Kya Dark Lineage 2'. When a casual gamer who never played the original sees a '2' in the title, he'll usually think 'Oh, this is just for fans of the series. I'll pass' Can't let that happen. Instead of a '2', it should have some catchy subtitle, maybe something like 'Kya Dark Lineage: Dimension Traveling' or some jazz like that. I mean, when Icognito brought the Twisted metal series out of retirement, did they call this new game 'Twisted metal 5'? No, they called it 'Twisted Metal Small Brawl', and it was the right call. And Maybe the use of magic besides just healing yourself? Many new fans will love to use some devastating magic, like magic that brazul used. Well, that's basically it: push it with advertising, present something that'll captivate people in the industry at E3 and shoppers with store demos, juice up the combat, add even more clever stealth puzzles, and DON'T call it KDL2. Anyone else got ideas? |

Wow This is amazing quite really, those are great ideas. Magic is a deffinate i would love to use a brazul lightning blast at a foe/s! or a brazul ice wave attack, like maybe you could fly in the air like brazul does in the final battle and then move the analog stick toward an enemy and the enemy would get shocked and then you would go after another and one more. More characters and cities and shops. |

I definately agree with you, Hotspot, especially on the 'not-calling-it-KDL2'-matter. Most people assume it's necesserary to play the first part of a game in order to play the second. If they do make a KDL2, it would be the smartest idea to put a sort of recap in the beginning of the game, so they know what happened to Kya in the first game. No hour-lasting introfilm, but a short introduction to Kya and what she did in the past. I dunno, might work. |

Kya Dark Lineage 2 sounds kind of boring too, so they should deffinatley make it like "KDL:dimension traveling" or whatever. If the second KDL is a hit people will search stuff about it and probaballly stumble upon the original and want to get it which would also increase atari and eden games profit and could deffinatley result in more sequels. |

I was thinking, how about if kya wins against a battle some winning music plays and kya does some sort of "Yeah i won" stance? and much more exciting music. |
