Hello everyone, I've downloaded the US version of the game to my PC, to dismount it. (Search the internet to found it, it's not really legal (i've already buy the game)) At this moment, you must know that the .bnk files can be decompressed with tdu-unpacker, whick is originally make to test drive unlimited, but works on kya. I've found some videos without sound, in a .PSS format. Also, a BWITCH.INI file that contains all (i think) global variables of the game: Spoiler: click to toggle A SYSTEM.CNF file : Spoiler: click to toggle Actually i can't open these files: .G2D; .vag; .bin; .RAW (identify as an image); .anm; .g3d, .cin; .sce; .mih; .dyn; .PRT; .MIB; .prt (associated (same name) with .dsc text files which apparently associate the .prt and a g2d file (here is the A133758513.dsc file: )) ; .fon; .sys (system?); .IMG; and some files in .ger, .fr, .us, .it and .sp, thinking of languages also a KYA.ICO file, identified as an image, but i cannot open it as image or text. That's all for the moment, i'll search how to open these files. EDIT: .pss files are playstation 2 game video file, not photo sound show file. And http://www.fileinfo.com/filetypes/game is REALLY usefull. http://www.zophar.net/utilities/ps2util.html is also REALLY very usefull. EDIT 2: Seen that in another topic, think maybe i can extract levels and persos. http://ps23dformat.wikispaces.com/Kya+Dark+Lineage (note: the freeware used in the pics is blender 3d, an opensource and cross-platforms 3d software. Learning to use it is not easy, but it's really powerfull.) EDIT 3: You can find PS2 emulators here: http://www.zophar.net/psx2.html Edited by F8wltastic, Jan 23 2011, 06:51 AM.

Maybe you can say us if there is an "alternative ending" I have read that is it not a very different ending... just it, I don't know even if it really exists. |

Yeah, wasn't thinking about it. Actually never of i discovered seems to be like an ending. The only movies (all in .pss) foundables directly are the eden's adds, the atari add, the introduction video (4 times, 2 resolutions) and the teaser. So, just the automatically unlocked vids. (I'll upload if you want) (Actually i've found some softwares to play .pss with sound, but all are for windows and one for mac, but i'm under linux (ubuntu), doesn't work wih Wine and haven't access to any windows computer until tomorrow, at highschool... and it'll possibly don't work. So if someone can test the sound for me... thanks) Also, in the LEVELS folder, there are 17 folders: credits, info, nativ, preintro, and level_* (* = 1 to 13), each one contains a CINE, STREAM, and STREAMCH folders and some .bnk files. When decompressed, there are some MAP_*; SECT* and a LEVELIOP that contains .vag, .g2d and .bin files. Also found some .col files. There's another folder called BONUS, which contains 4 folders with only .g2d (graphics2d - image) files. 97 in BCK folder, 31 in CHAR, 16 in KYA and 28 in REND. As I've... lose my game ... can someone tell me how many bonus pictures you can have? (gonna buy another quickly)I will try in priority try to open .g2d files, the number is awesome. EDIT: Programming in Java is indispensable to open .g2d files... I only code in C. So I will search for a pre-done software, or try to learn java (found a really good tuto), but it will certainly take much time... Maybe installign an ps2 emulator on my pc and play to the game, unlock things and do print-screens... All but efficient. I'll continue to search/analyse java code to read g2d. Interesting find there F8wltastic, I've been to that site before. The one where they post 3 models of Kya, it's very kewl. I would assume the bonus images are from beating the game, where you get all of those extra pics. like Kya at the gym or at prom. Who knows, maybe you'll uncover a secret they put in the game or something. |

Hey everyone I'm just posting this in case people come along and see this board while looking at the game files like I did and try to expand on what is already here. The first thing I'm going to note is that this game was made using Eden Game's own twilight engine and because of this it is very hard to find resources for opening most of the files, however, Test Drive Unlimited is also made with this engine and many of the resources for un-packing files can be used on Kya. The folder structure is as said below. G2D files are textures G3D files are models, they are assigned textures through the .ANM files. Each G3D files is headed .G3DINFO and has data about the exporter contained in the file when looked at in a hex editor. eg, "Exported by Yannick with v2.21.10". They are either exported by "Kya" "Yannick" or "Floppy" I am assuming that the version number is for the Twilight engine version. .Cin files are for the cinematics, and contain paths to all the files involved in the scene. eg, "d:\projects\bwitch\resource\build\credits\cinematiques\mesh\jamgut.g3d" The file structure refers to B-witch which was the original name of the game before it was changed. Leveliop folders always contain music and sounds in .vag files, which can be opened with a plugin for winamp. I think .MIB files have something to do with sound as well. They might even be events in the game. Streamch folders also have sounds in them more background music than little sounds though, I'm not sure why they are in a different folder though. In the Frontend folder there is G2D files for each item in the store and stuff. The menu folder has all the game messages and menu graphics in .g2d files. The one thing I seem to be missing though, is where all the game play data is, like the code for the actual game and how each object acts. Hope this helps some people! Ps. I found one little bonus in the padding of some files, which says that Atari and Otis Rules ;P |

Thanks for the post Icey! Your post is very helpful! I didn't know that they made their own game engine. |
