In the world of Antichthon Dragons fly, and unicorns prance.
It's a world of magic, fluid and vast. Counter Earth, So similar to our own...but not.
Here man is uncommon and dwell together in small settlements.
Here, elves, dinosaurs and myth are real, commonplace!
In Antichthon, Animals talk, think, and learn together. It's no surprise, but do expect the unexpected.
As mankind does on Earth, it does in the counter Earth. Animals fall to weapons of various kinds, any quadruped must be wary.

Come down to a cove, not quite a Valley, at the base of the mountains. Rich and green, untainted, but for a settlement of about 50 humanoids whom live further south. A forest fire caught near them, which pushed them away, but drove out much of the larger game. Small game is abundant though, in this virgin forest, riddled with clearings.
This beautiful shallow Valley is about 150 miles across. cutting a track across the western side, close to the mountains is a large river, which runs to the base like a giant tear, collecting at the base of the mountains to a lake, shining a blue wonder. The hills at the base of the mountain are large, and before the land settled itself volcanic activity caused many natural caverns to form, some of which are interconnected by tunnels. There are three tunnels that lead out away from the main collection, one only small animals, perhaps the size of a fox could get through, and another is blocked by rock fall. It leads under the river. The last, large enough for two wolves atop one another to walk, leads out to a rock formation in middle land, marked by a clearing and a young cherry tree, not yet baring fruit.
The rest, not large hills, but not plains, is rolling forest covered hill. Oak, walnut, Hickory, and Maple are the main trees found there. Pine, poplar and Cherry woods intermingle, but are not as present. Where the Fire had consumed new Birch, Beech and Pines are springing up. The young trees are no more than 2 feet high right now. Ground Cover is still struggling to come up.
Common ground and fruit bearing plants are wild strawberries, Queen Ann's Lace root, cattail tubers at the edges of the lake, Huckleberries in the high hills, black and raspberry, Young tart cherries and small sweet apples, a random small grove of apricot trees from birds eating fruit.

This is the land Cross Roads has come to populate!

Crossroads land was not always populated by wolves however. It was full of cougar, bobcat, bear, moose and game. A few wolves who had no home banded together and in their strength and will they chased away many large predators. Together they came, and though each was from another land, another life, another rule...they became one.
Each of the wolves, but ten all told, expressed their tales. Two young pairs searching for a home. One young female saw how they were, and how they worked together. She confided to her mate what she believed and he addressed the older ones.
"From across each track of land we've come here. From many different paths we've trod, but here together we now stand. We should call ourselves Cross Roads, and take in any, like ourselves. Everyone deserves chance, peace, and friendly faces to call home."
A few older ones were not sure, and stated that there would be those who turned away, or found them fools. The younger were not disheartened, and said that each must choose how they will stride.
None of the elders of that groups, which there were three of them, between the ages of 7-9 wished to rule this new land, because much still needed done to take it as their territory. The young pair who suggested it, rose to the challenge and took the older mated pair as Betas. The last young couple became Gamas. The last four were members of the pack, as they chose to be. They knew that the age old pack, across the River, would not like them there as a clan.
Slowly, the young pack built it's empire and grew. A few other wolves, loners all joined the growing pack.
Their Rivals did resent them, in heir newness, their naive nature, their open kindness. Sure it would break them down before long. They were strong, generations strong and valued knowledge of war and land. They would send splinters to heckle Cross Roads, but as the new pack grew the attacks became less and less.
Now, as the old Alphas drew to twilight years, and were soon to pass a youth who had joined them near the beginning, named Tris, stepped into the role of Alpha Female.
Together, with her Mate, Cross roads will grow and flourish, even with dangers that lurk, and enemies threaten. With the fire having chased away large game, the pack hunting together, thus some community time, was lost. This must be made up, for the pack to stay as one.

Tris bows to you, bottle green eyes closing "Welcome friend! I hope you will find safety with our family, we can be odd, we have our faults, but we are one."

Solstice nodded and looked at Nero with a smile. " Yes there are few by name, but by population... there are thousands... They populate almost every terrain, and what they don't populate now they surely will soon. They are highly adaptive but alas their vanity will be their downfall." She said while staring at the sky. "They seek power above all else, and will take it at whatever cost they may find. They are a danger yes, but not immortal, they can and will die. Maybe faster then our children's children, who's to know..." She added on while her thought silently drifted on.

The meaning of life you ask? How about to survive? To find a purpose? To make others, and even more so YOURSELF happy? To me, those ARE the meanings of life...

Quote Sully:
Petite female pads through the dense dead leaves that the trees had let go of, for Winter was approaching. Not at any vast speeds, but temperatures were almost too cold for this little white Alaskan wolf.
Leaves crunch as her tiny paws shuffle through them, as she clearly does not care much for being noticed. Being a born leader, she's unafraid of what is to come along her journeys. Ivory tail lay motionless behind her as she continues onward.
She presses her snout to the ground, and inhales the crisp air into her lungs along with a clump of dirt. Unhappy, she begins to snort and sneeze loudly as she paws at her face with disgust. She's a rather feminine female, thus not liking to get dirty often. In fact, she hated to be dirty... it made her feel ugly and unworthy... so the stain of dirt upon her pure ivory snout made her uneasy and quite upset. Zevi looked to the right, then the left to make sure no one was around whilst she cleaned herself to rid the dirt from her dainty muzzle.
"Fucking dirt..." she said, unaware that she just cussed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cortland lay in a pile of leaves he scratched together, as his deep brown eyes migrate upward to the skies allowing the natural light of the earth to illuminate his frame. Extending his neck forward, he stretches and lets out a light groan of relief from his stiff body. Peppered body lay still in the leaves, yet he stood out like a sore thumb since his main color was gray.
The words, loud enough to hear, but distant enough to make her pause catch the Cuckoo bird kind of wolf's attention. Is this a loner, or is she with someone. Large paws turn easily, and flit that direction. Slightly uphill. It's at the crest of the incline she looks down upon a dainty kind of female, trying to clean herself.
Kizzy, overcoat of cinnamon brown-red, undercoat a blond, with her thick blond mane gives a huffing chuckle, from her place she looks rather larger than she is, which is not to hard. Kizzy is a large wolf, a Russian Volk with no paws placed in the home country, but the intent of her heritage still dominate. Seems you can take the wolf from Russia but you can't take Russia from the wolf. She lays with her paws hanging over the edge of the short cliff, perhaps ten feet tall, and smiles. "Now, what may Dirt have done to you, pretty thing?" It's meant in a polite kind of...insult? if one could ever be polite with an insult, It's the question inflection at the end that make it acceptable.
Zevi continued to clean herself daintily, rough tongue running over her ivory frame as her two-toned eyes stare up at Kizzy. One brown, one a light blue... she stares. Heart pounding, ears pulled back as she replies,
"It's disgusting... look at it! It makes me look like I'm brown... not pure ivory like it's supposed to be." she groaned before she went back to cleaning herself. As she continued though, she thought about the lovely wolf that had approached as the frame of her had already burned into her mind.
"Apologies, I am Zevi." she said, not looking up again for the fear of her tail wagging or something sheepish and childish of that sort to happen. Instead, a grin appeared upon her muzzle that she only hoped would be hidden from this cinnamon tinted wolf that had discovered her.
Her head tilted off to the side a little, white chin bobbing as she chewed at nothing, there was a sore on her lip, though it may be mistaken as from a fight. She stays up on the ledge, huge paws hung over, the left one jerks a bit, toes splaying, then stops. She stands when it's over and crouches, jumping down in a fashion to protect herself from rebound, sending a cloud of dust roiling, now a matter of five feet from Zevi. Her left foot twitches again, and she smiles. Her eyes are icy, almost white. She takes in the petite white fem.
"I don't mind it, but then again, I'm not a delicate snow flake." Her voice is rather husky and thick, for a female, she lolls her tongue in a laugh and steps closer before sitting. Her icy eyes look through thick reddish-gold brows then she tilts her head back up and slightly to the side "I'm Kizzy, Kizzy Volk, are you alone, Zevi, have you no pack?" She is sizing her up with interest, if she is alone then there must be something to this snow flake.
Zevi looked upward as Kizzy then jumped down sending a cloud of filth her way. Wasting no time to scramble, she almost flies in the other direction to keep herself from getting more dirty than she already was. Dainty paws almost knotting together, she comes to a sudden halt, realizing that she looked re-goddamn-diculous to Kizzy. She sighed audibly as she padded back to Kizzy as she sat to the left of her as her large tail wrapped around her forepaws as she went slightly cross eyed to look at her dirty muzzle. She then heard Kizzy call her 'snowflake'.
//Snowflake?// she thought to herself as she looked at her with her two toned eyes before speaking, almost questioning her
"Snowflake? I've never heard that one before..." she said, thinking back on all of the crude and un-necessary names male's had called her over her life time... knowing that she'd never be paired with any of them since her interest was in females such as Kizzy. The strange ones... one ones she could not quite put a paw on... with that thought, she continued speaking.
"I am alone, yes. I have no one to travel with Kizzy." she said as Zevi examined the female standing before her.
She draws her head back, and cocks it off to the other side "Alone?" Rising, taller than the petite Zevi, she walks around her, looking at her as though trying to understand. "I like snow." She comments seemingly from no where in particular. She's trying to asses the use of connections to Zevi and comes up puzzled.
Her family, despite being wolves, are rather a lot like the Cuckoo bird in a sense. Like the Cuckoo they are sent off into other packs, to take from them.
Does traveling with another benefit her? It could, if she plays her cards right. "You...are afraid of dirt? poor Zeviflake, I fix it?" she smiles, though it looks like she's baring her teeth, and comes up closer, ignoring any kind of bubble, she licks Zevi's neck, right behind her ear, a place which is hard to reach. "Dirt don't hurt, it can be a useful thing." she comments, pausing as her left leg jerks, causing her to snap her teeth, and bite her tongue.
Zevi grows curious at her 'snow' comment, for she had never met a wolf quite like Kizzy before. This, not a bad thing... more a good thing in fact since this was a new thing for her. One she rather liked. "I suppose I like snow too... I blend in better during the winter." she said, looking in the opposite direction as she is nearly sneak-attacked by the cinnamon tinted wolf as she began... grooming her? Oh, how good this felt to be touched... so good that she in fact groaned aloud into Kizzy's ear, forgetting where she was for a moment until Kizzy spoke.
"H... helpful?" she said in a breathy tone as Kizzy continued grooming as Zevi leaned into her gently.
She pauses a moment, chewing her lip, then continues "Yes, camouflage in the high summer, deflect your heat, youa snow flake, white reflects though." she seems undecided about her words so silences and continues to clean where Zevi cannot reach. The corner of her mouth twitches and she pokes her nose in Zevi's neck. It's weird, her nose is dry, and thick skinned, not like normal. Were it ever to come up, which, if she chooses to dog Zevi it will, her paw pads are uncommonly thick as well, and crack and bleed in high winter and Summer.
"Zevi be your name, how you live Zevi, on your own?" she is puzzled by the dainty seeming female, complaining about dirt, since it was harsh on her white coat.
Zevi opens her eyes and looks up at Kizzy as she presses her snout into her neck. //Ouch!// she thought to herself as her sharp, dry nose pushed into her. The small ivory wolf pulled back as she pressed her tongue to Kizzy's nose to moisten it ever so lightly. She liked soft females... and Kizzy was almost what she'd dreamed of, yet she was sharp around the edges. No matter, this surely could be fixed.
"I am alone, because who'd wish to travel with a little peculiar thing like I? Small... fragile.... dainty.... and until this season I do not blend in with anything. Most wolves would just brush me off like I was nothing." she replied, looking down at Kizzy's paws, pondering why this female would wish to hang around a little thing like she.
She prickles at the lick to her nose, what was it foooor?!!!? Her pupils dilate and shrink again back to normal, but her words have no relation to her thoughts. "I will." For her thoughts run helter-skelter, Really almost no rhyme or reason for how she considers things. She runs with her best interest despite anyone else.
"What think you this?" Here she stops and leans back, looking perhaps smug, please with her words. It's an odd thing to see on her face, perhaps one she does not do often.
Zevi looked to Kizzy as the words 'I will' came pouring from her mouth at a speed she could not control. Had she asked a question? Or perhaps, Kizzy was inside Zevi's head in a sense since she was wishing for a companion to travel with and it happened to be the likes of this lovely cinnamon female wolf whom seemed to be her exact equal. Balance, if you will actually.
"You will? I mean... you do not have to." she said, watching Kizzy's strange ticks and movements and the proudness upon her muzzle as she asks if she liked the idea.
"Kizzy, I'd be more than pleased if you stuck with me." she said, and if one could see the shade of red this little ivory wolf was turning they'd know that this was more than a friendship to Zevi in her eyes.. or at least it's blooming into something more.
Her right eyelid twitches, "I said I would, you may hate dirt, snow flake, but you lie to me." she's talking about lying in being able to protect herself, though Zevi never said she couldn't, but in her mind...saying fragile, dainty, things like that is as good as saying she has not high attribute. Kizzy knows it's a lie, there is something more there, she's not catching it.
The sentence she spoke was not accusing, but rather still puzzled or almost friendly. "For a white you're pretty, you two tones, mixed souls." Whatever this does mean seems to please her, perhaps it's a volk thing.
It's a truth though, her pack, her family line, the Volk, believe that someone with two colored eyes is a twined soul, and thus meant for two, not just one mate. She does not question this as anything different, she assumes that Zevi must be the same, and simply has not found her two yet.
Zevi knew not what Kizzy was saying, but she knew that perhaps it was a good thing. Her tail swished to n fro as it brushed against Kizzy's face in a sort of flirty sort of way before she responded the best she could.
"Mixed souls?" she said, unsure of what she meant. She thought of Kizzy as the female she almost could not have, yet Kizzy seemed to have a great interest with her. Zevi's heart raced a bit as she decided to make the first actual move on her to see what she'd do. Slowly Zevi pulled herself forward to Kizzy as their whiskers touched as she was stretched to her full extent for she was shorter than Kizzy by a bit. Once she reached Kizzy's muzzle, Zevi's tongue reached out to her muzzle as she lightly gave her a kiss upon her cinnamon tinted muzzle.
Nero silently considered this, he was, and he did well know, very under educated about the Humanoids, since he was from and always had been from, Break Ridge. It was a, insofar, a good travel, but they had been alone for a long time.
His thoughts turn inwards, as he runs, which is not normal. There is a lot for him to reflect on from this past afternoon, beneath his black face he flushes. She is wiser than him, though addle she's no pup come to the world. Would he, being liken to a pup, be able to handle young if the bred? He was not even sure if he would make a good father. His reflections show on his face, by way of furrowed brows, and hooded eyes.
Quote AncientAkil
Solstice turned and looked at Nero, upon him becoming overly silent. " What's wrong dear?" She asked sweetly. Her head tilted slightly as she smiled. She cared deeply for him and even the slightest hunt of doubt or confusion made her worry. " It IS okay to talk to me about stuff that doesn't involve hunting or running to me.." She added on in case he had some weird doubt about talking to her.
