Frodo the White the White?
|
I can speak for myself in this instance, Lord Elrond, when I say that my uncle, being a thief, will be watched by me most carefully, and that my possession of the ring in the past was for its safekeeping from Sauron and his minions gaining power from it. While Bilbo is beloved by me, I'm more than aware that he's not one to be trusted with precious objects. Have faith, Smeagol, that Master will guard the ring from all takers not here amongst our secret fellowship. |

I have no doubt that you would protect the Ring from others, Frodo, but in my extensive research of the Rings of Power I recognize that sometimes a bearer must protect the Ring from himself more than anyone else - especially when it is a Ring of Power. Therefore, I think the Ring ought be left outside of each of our possessions. |

I agreed with that several hours ago with my suggestion of Minas Tirith as a possibility. I'm willing to consider Mirkwood as an option, and perhaps even Moria, deep within its mines where light cannot touch. |

Though I rarely visit the dwellings of dwarves, I think that Moria is an option. Gollum is familiar with it through his travels and even you have visited its halls, so it seems a decent place for us to safeguard the Ring. Though I still prefer Mirkwood. Looking at how there are eight Fellowships of three, would it be unwise to assume this section of the game lasts eight rounds? I think that would be a bit overlong, so that Rings will probably go unused. Considering the first round is named after the first book, it stands to reason that the rounds will be divided somewhat evenly among the books. I suppose it's too early to predict. |

I hadn't begun to consider the divisions of the game, Lord Elrond, so you bring up something interesting. If we saw the game as clean divisions of 3, then that would mean the merge would be at 8, but something about that feels too early. Perhaps it would be something like 6 rounds for each book, since double boots are to be incorporated and 18 rounds total would allow for some. Maybe even 5 rounds for each third of the game. Maybe a compromise on the ring? One round it's kept in Mirkwood, the next in Moria, and alternate back and forth. In a sense, it helps double its protection. |

I am fine with the back and forth of the Ring. It keeps the Enemy guessing, and allows us all to feel safe no matter the location. I think it is an appropriate choice. We only need wait on Smeagol to confirm. After hours of dedicated talk to myself, I believe I am headed out, finally. It was pleasant meeting both of you and I hope to continue our talks upon the morrow. |

Well all eight of us have shown, but mostly people got on only to sign in and then left again. They filtered in and out over the night but I think I'm only on two pages of PMs thus far, despite being online for a good few hours. Looks like Mordor is beginning to fill out a bit. I hope you are getting PMs now, Smeagol! |

No, it is still very quiet for poor Smeagol. Smeagol wishes we could have 2 pages worth of PMs by now! Smeagol figures the tribes will meld into 2 at some point? Then later on a merge of them both? Smeagol just guesses at this point. Smeagol hadn't even noticed that the round was named after a book chapter but finds it quite cool now that you've brought it up. Smeagol proposes that we simply keep the precious in Moria. Yes, nice caves in Moria, and wet pools as well where Smeagol can stay and keep precious safe. |

Well the more I thought about it, there are six Rings in the Fellowship chapter at this board, so presumably there will be six rounds of play in this format. From there, a possible melding into two teams is likely, I agree. We need to be aware that the Ring only can be used in this first chapter of the game and since it probably will only last six rounds, we can take the time to use it and hopefully not let it go wasted. But again, we need to discuss fully before one person take the Ring for himself. Moria it is. Though I do like Frodo's plan of switching it throughout places to protect it from the Enemy. Moria this round, Mirkwood the next, and Minas Tirith the round after? MMM |

Sunday is finally here. Have you all had fun on your tribes, precious? Things are still pretty quiet in Mordor. Everyone must be out in other partses of middle earth trying to find the precious, yes. |

Frodo the White the White?

It was loud and rather rambunctious in the Shire on the first night, but last night seemed to be fairly quiet. No one here is particularly nervous about needing use of the ring, right? |

My dear secret fellowship, if anything dramatic happens I will not be here to learn of it until about 1 hour before the challenge tonight. I hope all will be well until then, but if not, then we will find our secret ways to conquer.

Rivendell was hit and miss over the weekend. People came and went, mostly, but everyone showed up at some point or another. Not necessarily lots of messages, but lengthy ones. We have a wordy crew, for sure. I do not think I will be needing the Ring tonight. And we are all on the same page, correct, that if we need to use the Ring we try to warn one another that round and obviously tell each other if we plan to use it? I hope that with how intelligent we all seem our Ring will be able to last a good few rounds at least. Do we get a bonus if we don't use it at all, Gaga?? HM??? |

It still very quiet in Mordor yes, but not as bad as it was earlier in the weekend. We still have one no show in Saruman right now so Smeagol doesn't see us needing the ring at this point. If Smeagol needses it, we will let you all know but we feel secure right now, yes, precious. |
