The following information contains spoilers for Mass Effect 1 and 2
You have been warned
The Plot There is no overall "Plot" or "Arc" in Mass Effect Asecnsion. Instead we focus on character driven interactions. There are many tools for this at your disposal. The No player characters anyone can use as enemies are Pirates, Heretic Geth, and the Collectors. You could go to the citadel and get involved with C-Sec or maybe you want to be a pirate or criminal and commit some sort of cool crime. There are also the unknown regions which you can explore and find strange new worlds. Aside from those good little choices we have something called the Gmes Masters. Thery have a few roles, the information on them can be found here http://z7.invisionfree.com/ME_Ascension/in...php?showtopic=3 , but they will post up random events every now and then. Anyone can take part in these events and some times they may have a massive effect and change the nature of the universe.
The Setting and History Mss Effect Redemption is set after Mass Effect 2 and ten years after whatever Mass Effect 3 will be. For this reason we've had to make a few guesses and logical leaps in order to set up the universe. We've also had to make some decisions based on game choices. Instead of writing some very impressive and powerful prose piece I'm just going to save you some time and list out some bullet points.
>The Rachni were saved >The Council was saved during Sovereigns attack. >Wrex survived and became leader of the Krogan. >The data on a possible cure for the genophage was saved. >The Heretic Geth were destroyed, not reprogrammed. >The collector ship was destroyed. >There was a war with the reapers. >The rachni aided in the war effort. >The Krogan, led by war master Wrex, also joined the citadel forces. >The Geth kept the Heretics busy. >Many people died, colonies were erased, ships were destroyed, and stations critically compromised. >The Council died and the citadel was captured by enemy forces. >The Repears disappeared in some unknown way. >Shepard disappeared along with his ship and crew, assumed responsible for Reaper disappearance. >The Citadel was reclaimed and a new council put in place. >The Heretic Geth retreated. >The Regular Geth went back beyond the veil. >The remaining Collectors retreated back to their home in the centre of the galaxy.
Since the war the Citadel has been rebuilding itself and securing it's space once more. This isn't aided by Batarian, and other pirate organisations, using it as a opportunity to strike. There have also been border skirmishes with the Heretic Geth who are angry at the destruction of their gods, this anger is aimed mostly at the Humans. To add icing to the cake the collectors have started to make runs on small vessels and colonies.
