I was almost perturbed to see the movie as a preview, let alone comparing it to the book would make it seem even worse. D: |

Corner text reads: "Octopus deceiving predator with its ink."

The book was BY FAR better than the movie. I should know by now, the movies are always cheapo ripoffs of the book that follow the plot of the book terribly. Now, when books that become movies that then become games, the game is even MORE flawed. *points to Eragon as an example* |

Lord of the Rings was almost an improvement of the book, considering i could barely read it at the time. not that i was stupid or anything, it was just a complex book for a ten year old. >>; or was it twelve....? ... eh. |

No, I'd have to say the book is always better. Prime example, Harry Potter and the Gobelt of Fire. In my opinion, the best in the series, but look at the movie. The left out HUGE chunks of it and I sit there thinking. "WTF!? This isn't happening right after that!" Book ftw. |

in most cases, the book wins, yes. the Harry Potter series is a fine example: the first movie could have won awards! the most recent one was CRAP (in my opinion). the books are the only way to completely get the story, and if you don't read the books, you miss the best part. Not many movies stay true to the books, however... for instance, the Jurassic Park series. Michael Crichton only wrote TWO books. the makers of Jurassic park MAULED the first, MAULED the second, slapped them together arbitrarily, and then CREATED a third that shouldn't exist with the few scraps remaining. Had they stuck to the BOOKS, however, the series could have been done at ONE. then two wouldn't even have been possible because the main character, Malcolm, DIED at the end. how Crichton even MADE a second book is a mystery, because the Puerto Rican Air Force pretty much blew up the island with Malcolm ON IT. D: but, I've gotten to Rambling. I've been meaning to get that off my chest for a while now, though. ...... and did you know they've been talking about a FOURTH movie, too?! D: |

the movies weren't better than the books but they were still good in the Lord of the rings case. I mean they didn't do them any injustices, they just left out parts that weren't completely essential |
