That is right, if you hadn't read it in the news like many people have or didn't read the issue as of Captain America #25 Captain America is dead. Heading to his trial in the wake of the civil war he is shot by a sniper before killed by his hypnotized girlfriend three times in the stomach. I read the issue but here is one of the news articles http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070307/en_nm/media_america_dc_1 This is one of the biggest media covered comic book deaths since the death of Superman. |

Why do I get the feeling this is yet another "He's dead, OH WE'RE JUST MESSIGN WITH YOU! HE'S ALIVE!" sort of thing? |

Well the fact that Steve Rogers, aka Captain America is one of my all time FAVORITE heroes of all time I am kind of pissed, espescially since it looks like The Punisher will be taking up the mantle, who is one of my LEAST favorite characters....FUCK! |

Look at the track record, CMA... And also look at it from, uh (You're going to attack me for this) Which studio owns Captain America? DC? Marvel? Either way, think of it from their perspective. There's a lotta money in licensing out the character. Toys, Cartoons, and the like. They aren't going to kill off a cash cow like Captain America. |

Oh no they arn't killing cap...they are killing steve rogers....and replacing him with the punisher in Cap's costume. There will still be cap but he will be the fucking Punisher. And it is marvel that makes cap but they tend to be more "dead is dead" than DC is....although DC usually gives pretty damn good explainations to their ressurections. |

Oh so it's not a death of the character, per se, just his Alter Ego. Hmm...I'm a skeptic by nature, so I'll probably never believe he's dead permanently. |

Well technically it is the death of the character since everyone in the Marvel universe knew that steve rogers and captain america were one and the same. He had revealed this a few years back. The fact is that the world war II hero is now dead. It saddens me. |

(grunts in annoyance) Isn't he supposed to be bulletproof with that self-healing factor of his? Heck, even if it was a sniper bullet, he would be able to dodge it the second that it was fired, since he has been dodging them for years. |

Cap doesn't have those powers... The super soldier serum is just the world's most powerful steroid so he is just a human with above average strength, speed, and agility and a lot of training in using that shield and martial arts. Besides, Cap knew the sniper was there and aiming at one of the guards taking him to the court house and jumped in the way. The sniper was trying to get Cap but he knew cap would dodge unless he aimed at someone else. I mean the sniper WASone of Cap's old enemies, Crossbones, hired by the Red Skull. Besides the sniper shot wasn't what killed him, it was the three shots to the stomach and chest at point blank by his hypnotized girlfriend amidst the chaos that did him in. |

And the characters from other titles reaction would be...? What did they say? SpiderMan? IronMan? Logan, at least? The other avengers? Comeon, they should have said SOMETHING! |

And they will in the Civil War: Fallen Son series. 5 issues, each dealing with the 5 psychological stages of death and mourning with a different character representing a different stage. #1 Denial- Wolverine #2 Anger- Spiderwoman and Ms. Marvel #3 Bargaining- Captain America (new one mayhaps?) #4 Depression- Spiderman #5 Acceptance- Iron Man |
