Oh man!

Sorry I just wanted to start a thread about…threads! People tell me that when I post I always post too much, but when I post at other times, they say I’m not descriptive enough, and when I’m fully descriptive, they say I had typed to much again! >_<

Does this even make since? What do you guys think? When this stuff happens, people tend to avoid Rping with me, even on my first threads which disturbed me when I heard it form another forum today. So cruel!

Depends on the circumstances I think. On a site such as this for example, someone doesn't want to read a book before entering a topic. Not just one long post, I mean like, say theres 10+ pages, not a lot of people go through all ten pages before entering an RP, just skim through a few and read the last few posts.

Thats my personal belief at least.

Just a side note, tho- you need to put your charrie info in your sig.

And I'd join your topic, but I'm too tired right now to RP well.

Oh no.

It really depends on the RP context. In a battle situation when both players are online and eagerly waiting for the opponment to may their move, your post should have just enough infomation to tell the nature of your attack and which direction it's comming from. Such post shouldn't take more then about 5-8 minutes However, in a Charater development/plotline situation, it's best to include more details since it greatly helps in the story as well as preventing a writer's block. Just my 2 cents.

Argh! thank you for the opinions! I saw some "WTF" and "Tone it down!" just because I post so long. I try to limit to just paras mostly, but when I make intros for threads they have to belong by about five paras since it will set the mood and give some detail of the environment. At least, I think that helps set the mood...

Oh no.

Actually, about 2 or 3 parasfro the first post is enough, You have to remember, this is an RP, not a book. You should leave some details for the other Rpers to decide, such as how the wind is going, stuf that aren't really important to the actual topic.

I think...Okay I'm pretty sure the only reason they say that is because they don't want to have to equal how long you post.

Descriptive is good if you have the time. Otherwise asterisks work just as well.

I like to be descriptive, regardlesss of how long it's take. It's usaully not long for me unless I am posting in multple threads on the same level of paras I am replying with. People are usually intimidated by how much I type. It kinds of causes them to avoid me in threads and such. They PM me and say they don't feel like reading all of it and they can't match the post even when I tell them they don't have to.

Basically, It's posting like this:

Navi: Hi, how are you?

Navi2: Fine.

Vs.

This:

Navi walked up to his friend, whom he hadn't seen in weeks, curious of how he was doing "Hi, how are you?" He said. "Fine" came the response.

Yeah. I prefer the "Script Posting" Method(The former), becuase it is simplistic, but I can add detail like so:

Navi: *walks up to Navi2, curious how he's been* How are you?

Navi2:*looks over, notices Navi* Fine.

I post like that sometimes, but it seemed like it was taking up space with all the script being seperated by enter each time. 0_0
