All of these mundane fights were starting to get on her nerves. She was tired of jacking into and fighting all these children who had no concept of strategy. Her most recent victim started whining as the older woman sighed, rubbing head and running her fingers through her hair. Her custom-programmed Navi was still classified at the lowest level possible and it was so hard to find a decent fight for him. All of these little bets wouldn't sustain her for long.

Adjusting her glasses, she looked at the rest of the crowd and logged out, bringing her Navi back into the computer stored in her glasses. Taking her long walking stick, she bowed before her challenger and put her finger in her slacks pocket as she walked.

"Hmph... if we do not get you some proper experience soon, we will have problems with our funding."

You should not worry so much, mother...

"I could care less if it is with a higher-ranked Navi at this point. You need proper training and better weaponry. These children are a joke."

Walking down the long halls of the Coliseum, she paused for a moment to look over one of the hanging tapestries and appreciate the antiquities of old. Tapping her foot, she pondered what else to do with the day.

If you would like, I could try and search the area for a more prominent opponent.

"That would be grand. I could care less if you lose... we need something real to work with."

With that, her Navi began a search in the area of the connections nearby in order to see if there were any ranked warriors worthy of a spar.

Forever watching Noel through his window.

Jay was a regular at the Coliseum, but not as himself. He came under an alias and heavy costuming because, face it, the UnderPrince himself would be easily notable in a crowd. In any case, the false identity Jay entered under became so much of a regular that the administration finally just gave up and let him bring alcohol in because they thought he could be trusted. How wrong they were. He'd gotten more than one teenager (and, one time, a nine year old) addicted to the booze he adored so much. He would often find himself watching the news, laughing about how "So-and-so, at only 13 years of age, was drunk driving. He/She crashed and died instantly.", but Jay got the biggest kick when the teenager died slowly. So did Skull.

However, he did not come as a combatant. He preferred to watch the people fight. He had been moderately impressed by a navi in blue armor's performance. There was seemingly no one in the Coliseum that could beat him. Of course, Jay was confident enough in Skull's abilities that he could beat the blue navi without breaking a sweat.

Jay watched Lydia leave the ring. He decided to go after her, maybe strike up a conversation. See if she'd be interested in joining the Mafia and, subsequently, the UnderCourt. Rather obtrusively, he leaped down into the ring and went out the door Lydia did. This elicited a few angry yells from people (mostly security).

He found Lydia admiring the antiques in the hall. With a gentle, warm smile he greeted her with a wave a nice hello.

Turning around slowly at the "hello", she looked the gentleman up and down in appraisal before nodding her head at him. Phalanx paused in his search, trying to get the reading of the man before her. She offered a bow to the man with a smile of her own.

I sense a Navi on this one, but I can not get a reading on the current program... be wary.

Adjusting her glasses, she looked over the man.

"My name is Lydia Hamilton... did you enjoy my fight? I... must admit that I am having a hard time finding a decent opponent for my Navi. I programmed him myself, but because he was only recently registered it makes Net Battling rather... tedious."

It was hard to tell who this man was, but she peered at him, wondering if the man was wearing make up... something about him was slightly off and it worried her slightly, but she did not make a fuss. Her gaze was appraising, but not cruel. He was no child, and she wondered what sort of fight his Navi would put up.

Knife, Gun, KNIFEGUN!

On a nearby stool sat a boy in his late teens drinking a large can of Scarlet Bovine Energy. He was looking over at the two operators who had recently started a conversation. Recently, he had just sat down with a "super hero" and friend known as "The Silver Mask", he had advised that Drift (the teenager in case you are a little slow in the thought processors) to go with the flow and he might find a problem which he might be able to help fix. First deciding to co by the 'ole Coliseum to look for people that might look like criminals so that he might search the ONB records and bounty lists, Drift thought this would be the perfect place to plan his next strike.

For some reason or another, Jay struck Drift as a suspicious character, he did not know why, but something about this guy seemed a little... off.
"This guy seems a little suspicious." He whispered to his navi "I'm going to take a snapshot for a later records scan." By pressing a button on his sunglasses, Drift saved a picture of Jay and Lydia to his P.E.T. and strolled over to try and collect more data.

"Excuse me for interrupting, I just wanted to comment on what a great battle you had. It looked like a performance rather a brawl." He addressed to Lydia, taking a sip from his energy drink.

Jay nodded. "Hello again, Lydia Hamilton, my name is Mel Steele." Jay mentally slapped himself for using Sam's old alias. "Indeed," he continued. "I have to say, I'm impressed at how well you did. With talent like that you could--" He decided to play it safe. What could be better cover than recommending joining the Officials? "--become a very well known Official." Jay removed his aviators and hung them on the collar of his shirt. "Or if there's something else that suits your fancy...," he added. He couldn't resist. The temptation of hinting toward the Mafia was too great.

Then Drift arrived. Jay had seen him listed as being an Official. To furhter protect his identity, he put his aviators back on.

Meanwhile, a capped, orange eyed, middle aged man stood in the doorway opposite the entrance to the ring. Lydia, Drift, and Jay were easily visible to him, but any of the trio facing him couldn't see him. Out of all of them, the one that stood out the most was his brother, disguise or not. For the time being, Gavin remained in the doorway, watching. Listening. Determining when it would be best to reveal himself to his brother.

Which, at this point, of course, a young, sorta-kinky passerby decided to join in this middle-aged man's sneaking around. After a few moments, he spoke aloud to Mister Orange Eyes. "You a paedophile?"

The questioner in question was a young boy...or teen, at any rate. Dark, heavy locks of long hair reachinf down his shoulders parted in ways that suggested he had either just climbed out of bed, or was having a really bad hair day. And despite his smooth, milk-cream skin and sleek, shoulder-length hair, it was indeed a he; The three letters 'B-O-Y' tattooed all over his shirt in bright red capitals said it itself. He wore loafers and shorts; amplifying that air of a rich kid, though in actual he wasn't that well-of. It was just that the Colliseum seemed to entertain a crowd of younger generations, the older clan prefering to take it elsewhere in more serious places, so it did well to help him blend in.

"Suspicious character, peering at a group of kids from some shady character. You got a hard-on or something?" He aksed again, voice natural and carefully curious.

She was in modesty mode before the young kid popped up about being a pedophile. Immediately her cheeks began to blush at the thought of such things, revealing her prudent side. She, however, was a fully grown woman despite being challenged by kids at the time. Raising a hand to her lips and coughing slightly at the accusation, she tried to clear things up with her new admirers.

"Oh, they were likely just staring at me. You hardly find anyone my age at the beginner's bracket. I spent five years programming my Navi because I wanted him to be perfect. So far, my work has proven itself against the average Navi. I am pleased."

It wasn't in Phalanx's nature to laugh, but his stoic 'humored' look could be sensed through her glasses. With a slight smirk, she continued her questioning about joining a group.

"As for joining as an officer, my brother is already in the military. I would prefer the arena of Net Battling myself. Not as lucrative, but much less fatal. I would even love to program Navi's for other people. Nothing has brought me more joy than seeing Phalanx in action and I learned much in creating him. I just need more data to see how he fares in a more... heated confrontation."

"Wasn't talking to you, poppy." Erin called over from where he was...which was to say, beside the disguised Jay's older brother who was spying on the group from quite some distance away. God, this family was quite a neaky bunch. Maybe it ran in the blood.

"...But, hey! Since we already gotten started on this conversation, might as well finish it, no, mademoiselle." With that, he did a series of very fast steps towards Lydia, though he would still respond to the paedophile should he reply to him. What, continuity issues, man.

As he neared the gang, but not quite joining them, he paused and did a double take as he saw Drift, a slow grin spreading on his face. "...Well! If it isn't the small-timer! Still on the hunt out for small game? Well, I did promise to hook you up, so here's a hint..." Grinning, he kicked a branded toe towards Jay, or ' Mel Steele' as he introduced himself. "Anyone who associates himself in any way with ol'Taylor ought to chart something up the lists. Get to it."

Turning to the girl-woman- he nodded a little, before simply saying: "May I see that Navi? Just a mo..."

Drift gave a smile to Erin . "Yeah, small game's the way to hunt. I find it better to defeat smaller foes in greater numbers rather than defeat a strong one with a big bounty. " He said, with a straight face. This a a huge lie, Armyman has been off game for a while and high ranking navis were hard to take down. However, Drift had recently invested in.an SP System which should have given his navi just the boost he needed. A small fry might be the best kind to test it on, we shouldn't get too cocky now.

When Erin addressed Gavin, Jay looked over. He saw Erin, but not who he was talking to. However, when the smooth, higher pitched voice with a slight Kinglish accent gave Erin a stern no, there was little doubt in Jay's mind who it was. Jay quickly excused himself from Lydia and Drift's presence. He walked rapidly and with purpose to the doorway and past Erin as he approached Lydia and Drift. When Gavin came into view, Jay flipped him the bird.

"What the hell are you doing here?!" Jay demanded.

Gavin laughed at his younger brother. "It's the Coliseum. Is there some reason I shouldn't be here, Mel?" he said.

Jay's face was livid and his fists were clenched at his sides. His jaw was clenched and, under his sunglasses, his eyes were filled with annoyance and anger. "Some reason? You're supposed to be in Kingland!" Jay yelled.

"Why are you getting so worked up over this, Mel? I'm twenty-nine years old. I can go where I want whenever I want. I don't need permission from someone, especially not my little brother."

Jay raised his still clenched fists and growled with anger. "I'm not little!" he roared.

Gavin laughed again. "Seems you're still sensitive about your height, eh?" he mocked.

Jay calmed down for a moment to throw a glare at Gavin. "Look on the bright side. I'm not short and balding. By the time I was seventeen," Jay retaliated. The next thing Jay knew, Gavin's fist had connected with his face. Painfully.

Jay was lying on the ground, his head reeling while Gavin extracted a fragment of Jay's broken sunglasses from his knuckles.

Lydia nodded as the odd one excused himself, but turned her attention to her new fan club with a slight smile. Tossing her hair to the side, she ran her fingers through it with a slight blush.

"I would be honored to show you my Navi. Let us head back to the ring area where I can show him off."

Making her way over to the downloading area, her stick tapped the ground as she walked. It was hard to tell if she really needed it, or it was just for show... more than likely; self defense. She wore business shoes under her suit, and if it weren't for the make up and her chest line, one might mistake her for a feminine male.

Taking the jack from her glasses, she hooked her glasses up to the computer to upload her precious Navi. The hologram in the ring flickered slightly, the Navi taking longer than usual to upload due to his complex programming.

Up arrived the hologram of a tall 6'4" man with very realistic detailing. His jumpsuit under his bluish-metal armor was white with golden etchings which were also on the armor. He had a half-helmet on and a full mane of long obsidian hair which seemed to move as if it was underwater. The helmet and the shoulder plates had a sharp blue trim where a veil of see-through neon blue rested over his long hair and a matching cape was draped at his side. His eyes were very real... very pristine, but almost sapphire in sharpness. It was the only thing which made him machine in looks... otherwise one could easily mistake him for a human in mech armor.

Lydia was a proud mother as she showed him off to the rest of the world. Though the Navi's face was serious, it was peaceful and wise.

"This is Phalanx, my greatest creation!"

The Navi bowed respectfully to the group with her, but across the room a few kids were gawking at the detail put into the Navi. Most were humanoid with robot limbs... no, this Navi was so humanoid it was scary. His body wasn't a flawless doll. His arms had muscle, but it had true proportions... and the small things like how light shone against the metal of his armor and the etchings which were carved.

"Hey! I wanna battle that!"

Lydia's face went a little sour... smiling as her eye twitched. She sighed at the new challenger, but looked over to the rest of her audience with a smile.

"Care to watch him in action again? Hopefully this one will last a little longer..."

I do hope so, mother... but perhaps one of them would be able to critique my ability. Phalanx added.

"Well well, regal with a sign of ferocity outside of battle, a hard combination to pull off." Drift said, picking up Jay's sunglasses. He handed them back to the disguised criminal with a smile.

"There's a great shop in ElecTown that can sell you another good looking pair for a good price. I highly recommend it." He adjusted his own sunglasses, or so it seemed, another picture of Jay had just been taken, with his full face this time.

He turned back to Lydia, "I would fight you myself as a break from all these new comers, but it seems that my navi is fighting a giant cat in Yoka at the moment."

((Jesus, people! Gavin and Jay aren't -right there- next to you! How about we try ten or fifteen feet away, eh?))

Jay's pride wasn't about to let him be helped up. He ignored the broken sunglasses being handed to him and helped his own self up. He kept his face turned away from everyone to hide his blushing.

Then Skull appeared next to Jay via D Chip. However, for some reason, his colors were...off; shadows, clothing colors, you name it. They were all weird colors, making Skull completely unreadable by any methods except for his voice and even then only by people that knew him well (See also: Jay, Kirote, Max, and Skull's Mounts--none of you). He looked like a giant glob of pink and sky blue slapped together with a few other colors thrown in. Jay stared at Skull as if Skull had appeared dressed in drag and doing the hula.

Skull was staring at Jay even though no one else could see it properly. "What? Something on my face?" he asked.

Jay just went on staring. "This...this seems familiar...," Jay mumbled. Just about then, a stereotypical alien appeared in the doorway next to Gavin. Both Jay and Skull looked at it with shocked looks on their faces, pointed at it, and yelled in unison, "You!"

Gavin looked at the alien and patted it on the head. "Seems like you know my little friend here," he said. "I found him wandering around downtown DenTech. There was a strange bunch following him."

Something clicked in Skull's head. He quickly approached the alien and began throttling it. Of course, being a robot, the alien just stood there. Up until Skull started to literally crush its throat. The alien sent an electrical charge through Skull, disrupting his dimensionalization enough to render him useless in the real world. Skull stood up. "Change me back, you little freak!" he commanded. The alien silently refused by turning itself invisible. It probably wandered off afterward.

Jay rubbed his upper lip. "Might wanna go after that thing, Gavin," he instructed. At Gavin's questioning look, Jay added, "When Miku had him, he liked to wander off. When Skull and I found him in Zo--a warehouse, he wandered off shortly after. And for such a small, heavy thing, he moves fast."

Gavin stuffed his hands in his pockets and shrugged. "Oh well. He seems to like hanging out behind Higsby's a lot. I'll just go look for him there," he said. "For now, I'd like to see you fight against that blond chick. ...In a net battle, you idiot."

Jay <<'d and looked back at Lydia and Erin. Lydia had already reentered the ring and jacked Phalanx into the terminal. Jay ripped the D Chip out of his PET, forcing Skull back into it. He pushed ahead of Drift and Erin to be the first to the opposite end of the terminal. "I call first dibs!" he proclaimed.

Skull appeared in the terminal in a column of fire. Above him was his phoenix, Penny. To his right was his hellgound, Jagd. Skull's hand rested on Jagd's head, gently scratching Jagd behind the ears. His Claymore was in his left hand. His favorite programs, his Skeleton Style and SuperArmor, were already active.

He was also in his normal colors and just as humanoid looking as Phalanx. "Hi. Don't worry. I'll go easy on you," he mocked.

((Exactly. Which was why I had to post long-distance))

Ignoring the little scuffle that had broke out between brother and brother, Erin looked not at Phalanx's design, but the code when he logged in. He skimmed through the half-familiar language, reading the strange computer langauge in a low tongue.

"...I see..."

Clicking his tongue slowly, he nodded to Lydia. "Indeed. This is more than a mere day's work. Impressive... And very intriguing form of programming you use there. Also, that sequential keys..." Oh. Geek talk mode. I so need to get teh scientist out of me. Shutting himself up, Erin corrected himself, as he watched the guy named Jay, back from his little spat with his bro, throw himself on stage with a hunger for battle.

"...Fairly played. Let's see how this turns out...."Erin said aloud, folding his arms. In an undertone he whispered to Drift: "Prepare to get your guns out if this guy gets too... bloody. I have a nagging feeling about this..."

Lydia narrowed her eyes at Jay, seeing how rude he was with bumping the other kid out of the way, but they quickly forgave him with seeing the badass Navi face the other badass Navi in the ring and the crowd started to get thicker. Some kids were even making bets. Lydia brought her two hands together and cracked her knuckles one by one making an assessment of the situation.

Melee... definitely melee... She thought.

Phalanx quietly studied his opponent... yes, he had some advanced programs. Bowing respectfully to Skull, his sapphire eyes met his with a stoic but determined gaze.

"Out of respect, Sir Skull... I will not return your courtesy."

Lydia was already managing her strategy... "ground and pound" would not likely work on a monster like this. "Ground" yes... that would be a necessity... but how long would his obstacles last against a high attack beast?

"Let us go..."

A ring could be heard on Drift's P.E.T. He looked it over at the email he just got and looked over at his new group of strangers.

"Well, it looks like the ONB Headquarters is under attack again. I better let you guys have your fun, peace."

((Background music! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OONqel6f_8M

This post is mostly thematic. Skull can't do most of this in actual combat. I just like making him look like he could rip a building off its foundations and hurling it a couple blocks away while sippoing tea with one of those nifty little umbrellas out of a coconut.))

Skull looked around when music started playing in the background. He finally recognized the song and face palmed. Jay chimed in. "I couldn't resist," he admitted. "The bad ass content of right now seems to be unusually high." Skull couldn't help but chuckle lightly at Jay. He snapped his fingers and both Penny and Jagd retreated to some far off corner of the terminal.

A sword's handle suddenly appeared sticking out from behind Skull's right shoulder. He gripped the handle tightly and just barely resisted a head rush from the power that flowed through him. He began to draw the sword and a white light seemed to emerge from his back. The sword didn't reveal itself immediately, there was so much data packed into the sword that it loaded so very slowly. However, once the sword loaded, Skull withdrew it startlingly quickly.

It was the Devil's Claymore, a weapon so powerful that even Bass himself would cringe at the sight of it after feeling its wrath. It was intimidatingly large; seven foot long including the handle and two feet wide.

The scary thing was that Skull held it like it was a child's toy.

Waves of raw power seemed to radiate from both Skull and the DClaymore. The air thickened around them both with energy and power. The panel Skull stood on began to crack slightly from it. The panel's data was being ripped to shreds by the DClaymore. As Skull stood there, even the panels surrounding him began to rip apart. The presence of raw strength surrounding Skull was stifling. Even Jay stared slack jawed at his navi. This was the first time they had ever used the DClaymore.

Skull effortlessly hefted the DClaymore onto his shoulder. "Come get me, Phalanx!" Skull challenged.

Lydia had no idea what that big-sworded bastard had up his sleeve when it came to chips. If he had another Stage chip, turning the place to ice would be ridiculous. Everything was normal for now, and she had no idea what this thing's subtype was... all she knew is trading blows with him would likely not be the best of ideas.

Loading the chips and playing along with the music, she treated it as a final battle.

Chip download! AirSword!

The wide sword appeared next to Phalanx. Until she saw what other chips her opponent would swing, she wouldn't be stupid enough to fall into any traps. With Phalanx's Super Armor on, he could at least trade decent blows with a sword which had powerful knock back.

"Fight smart, Phalanx! Pay attention and learn from him."

A sword that size meant that he would have a hard time dodging. So long as he connected, he didn't have to give him damage to knock him back. Phalanx didn't charge in like Leeroy, rather taking a kendo position as the crowd cheered. He inched his way forward, knowing his wide sword didn't quite have the reach that the monster heafted on Skull's shoulders had. Still, the knockback power on his AirSword would prove enough to trade blows in a parry or two even with his blade. Staying light on his feet, he lashed a quick slash to the side of the arm, waiting for the blades to fly.

A grin cracked Skull's face as an AirSword appeared on Phalanx's hand. He laughed quietly. "Bad move...," he mumbled maliciously. He drew the DClaymore up and over his head. Once Phalanx was six panels away from Skull, Skull slammed the DClaymore into the ground, creating a 6x6 explosion that seemed to be made of violence.

((I'm using a weapon which has multiple uses for defensive purposes, if that counts as my attack as well, I'll find another way.))

Lydia's breath was caught in her throat... that wasn't even a chip. That was a raw attack from his main weapon. Her eyes widened as she swallowed, but at least Phalanx had some brains in his AI. He knew that his Super Armor couldn't completely take a shot like that and he thought fast, using the AirSword's pushing ability to slam on the ground and send himself flying away from the blast. The scrapnel of the huge blast embedded little pieces into his arms and shoulders where he had lowered the sword once the impact erupted, rolling with the shockwave to the ground.

"Blue hell!" Lydia croaked.

"Stay strong, mother..."

"Get some manouverability! IceStage!"

The panels under everyone slowly began to form into ice. This is where Phalanx was at his strongest, as his moving abilities could more easily slide out of the way of a huge blast. His problem was now getting close enough for a strategic set up.
