So I'm just curious what people think of my Spider roleplays. I know Wight said last week was a pre-planned loss and everything, and I'm not mad or anything, but I've been doing this for a while and just wanted to see what people thought.

You remind me of every website I visited in the 90s. And that endears me.

I see what your trying to do with the character, and you're doing a pretty decent job of that, But your RPs are pretty short. I know wight uses length to judge a match along with other things like writing quality, grammar, and entertainment value. Length is by far the easiest one to work on, and more RP means more time for the character to develop.

You've got the germ of a good idea. Like The Boy said, I can see what you're trying to do but length is going to help you big time with an RP. Think about it for a while before you write one, because if you write one dynamite RP as opposed to a bunch of decent ones, usually you'll only need one to win.

One of the few things Wight's done that I thought was a fantastic idea is this little gem here: Wight's RP Clinic

And as a general piece of advice I've always given people, such as Nightmare, who seems to have picked up on it. Quality > Quantity. One good, well thought out RP, will almost always win out over several RPs that lack thought or direction. You're not always going to put out a masterpiece, in fact I doubt you'd do it half of the time. But make due with what you have, whether it's something that's already happened, something somebody has said about your character, or whatever.

Unless you jump in with a pre-planned idea for your character, you're going to spend some time feeling things out until something sticks. That's not a bad thing either. I've done the e-fed thing with 2 different characters, one being Dante, the other being Swytch. Dante was just a general idea, and he evolved into something with substance. Swytch started with a pre-planned idea and, well he evolved too. The point is, work with what you're given.

Finally, just have fun with it.

It's simple. The way to win is to not get booked against me.

Psych! I'm just being silly. That RP Clinic that Mo linked to above me is a great place to start. I've used it in the past.

As have I. I also listened to sage advice from Mo, Lita, Wight, and many many others. So, don't ever be afraid to ask for one on one advice.
