I wasn't asking for complete control though, admittedly my wording is a little murky on the matter a few times out of a lack of caring but my overall point I felt was clear. Even if the final say is out of my hands, as is sometimes the case, let me know. That's ultimately all I ask, a courtesy, a show of respect. Again, I know I'm harping on old ground, but at my old e-fed, that's how it was done for everyone. From the person lowest on the totem pole to the highest, a general showing of respect was given to each other and we tried to treat one another like adults.

Ultimately, what is lost from letting someone know beforehand? The mythical Genuine Reaction? I feel there's an extent that that can go to before it ceases to be a justifiable explanation. Which then begs the question, what is it then? Just...because? I mean, if so, okay. I don't agree with it, but okay.

In regards to the Midway, since we're dragging that into the discussion, it didn't initially have an expiration date. It only gained one when you seemed uninterested in it, like I told you before, and so I started working on other ideas. And, that storyline alone should prove that I'm not afraid of letting my characters look bad. Seeing as I specifically asked you, regardless of how the judges felt, to let Zombie beat Tara both times they fought for the title.

It's not like it's the only time I've allowed my characters to lose face for the sake of another either.

Maybe you're right though. Maybe I'm not in the right mindset for NGIW. Though to be candid, being in the seat of the NGIW Champion is more than a hike away from a reality. Seeing as if Joe, and by extension I, were to see that through, it would entail beating Dai and Lita at the present time. Two RPers that aren't exactly slouches. So I'm not entirely sure why that was brought up, as it's pretty pointless as of right now to mention.

Again, I wasn't asking for special treatment. Or, what I see as special treatment. Nor was I trying to play innocent or the victim. However to say I'm the only one holding a match because I made one negative comment is reaching a little. There is such a thing as to agree to disagree, which I tried repeatedly to do to avoid continuing the conversation. Because it was clear to me that the other parties felt differently. I wasn't trying to purposely egg on anyone to rage quit.

I am going to meditate further on the ultimatum presented to me. As I've ultimately always lived by, in e-feds, that I continue to do it till it's not fun anymore. And, to a lesser extent, remove myself from issues if there are any and/or keep my distance if I am the cause of an issue. I was happy and having fun with NGIW until this discussion and I now feel as if I am an issue for NGIW as a whole.

Time. I recieved this information late this evening. The show was written up and ready to go. I was just waiting to make sure nobody had any more promos. It seemed harmless enough, so I posted it. I maintain that it IS harmless.

To clear up any misconception I wasn't bringing that up out of bitterness or anything of the sort. Just as an example of how characters can get away from even me. I've functioned dragging along a character I wasn't that into for someone else's interests since it was made very clear to me early in my e-fedding career that switching characters a lot is a good way to get people to make fun of you. I'm not thin-skinned by any means, but I like to avoid hassle if I can. It was only exacerbated some years ago when Havok imploded and started to suck and I fucked over Dai's character Jenny Chennault by dragging him out. So I took up the position of limping characters along until a storyline reaches its conclusion so other people didn't get hurt by my flighty nature anymore.

That being said, I'm sorry you got the impression I was uninterested. I don't know how or why you got that impression. I didn't mean to give it to you. But it's whatever. I was admittedly a little upset when you told me the storyline was ending since I'd used Rainbow Black to help commit to keeping Zombie around expressly for the purpose OF that storyline, but in the end it's all fun and games and we all have our (slight) burdens to bear within an e-fed.

The issue isn't that you're "afraid to let your characters look bad". The issue is that you must have complete creative control. For the same of time and communication, that's just not possible. I'd either have to eat into RP time or put the show some number extra days after the deadline to make sure everyone has enough time to converse with everyone about potential angles.

That's no small feat to be sure, but it's no secret that I've been grooming you for it for around a year. You're a prolific and talented roleplayer. When put on the right track I feel you can accomplish almost anything within this fed. For example, I recall saying to Boy last night that it's a shame your in-show promo was wasted as an in-show promo because it was probably some of the best work I've seen you do for this entire gimmick.

Excuse my wording. I was getting a little heated toward the end, there. I apologize for being blunt. However, as we've discussed in the past, perception is reality. Just because you're not TRYING to upset anyone doesn't mean it doesn't LOOK like you're upsetting people. Just because you're not TRYING to fight doesn't mean you don't LOOK like you are. Sometimes it's just better not to post. Please do not take that to its hyperbolic limit; it's just a matter of exercising caution in what you do and do not post. You are an intelligent man. Given a deep breath and some thought I'm sure you wouldn't have posted your initial feedback because you know how people would react to it. All it ever had to be was the PM. But it wasn't, and while I wouldn't argue if someone made the point that Jay overreacted a bit there at the end, the conversation never would've started or continued if you had decided discretion was the better part of valor. There were several points in that conversation where you could've curbed your tongue (or fingers if you want to get technical) and walked away and we wouldn't be here right now. At least, certainly not in the capacity that we are here. Granted, the same goes for Jay (and to a much lesser extent the other posters in this thread) but I find it hard to take disciplinary action against a man whose only crime was refusing to be here anymore.

"Ultimatum." How awful. I don't like living in a world where I have to make 'ultimatums'. Such an ugly concept... let's never do this again, NGIW.

To take some sting out of anything that I said above that might be misconstrued, I reiterate that there isn't anyone in this fed I wouldn't count as a friend. Even after the issues with Joe Wilson last year I think we're re-knitting our relationship at a nice, moderate pace. I like you people and I don't like fighting or having to put my foot down about things... but at the same time I can't keep up with this hobby if interpersonal drama of this magnitude is all I can expect every couple of shows.

I've certainly stirred up one hell of a wasps nest with my suggested irresponsibility, and I genuinely apologize to everyone who has had to endure this lengthy thread of bruised egos and stubborn narrow-mindedness, including my own. I will endeavor in the future to inform all involved of potential plans and ideas. You're right, Tom, it was impolite and disrespectful of me to leave you out of the loop, even if it was a last minute concept.

I feel compelled, however, to challenge your accusation regarding me taking advantage of your trust, or for that matter, anything related to you. I dare say I'm one of the most generous handlers going. I can recall many circumstances where I've contacted Wight with an idea to put someone elses character over my own, your characters included, and only one other circumstance where I took a potential liberty. The RP concerning Joe Stanton's bike. To suggest that our interactions are limited to me introvertedly plotting along is confusing as we've barely ever interacted out of character save one or two personal messages you have sent me that are probably more than a year old. If I'm missing anything I invite you to make me aware via personal message, because if it's worth bringing up in the first place it's worth resolving.

The thread saddens me, as it reminds me how awesome ME were.

But then, I guess I can't stay mad with the prospect of Lucas vs. hide.

I don't know what you guys are all upset about, this is awesome! It's fun when you're on the stands. :)

But yeah, oh my god. Roxie getting her ass kicked? I totally would've loved to know about that. Hmph. Now I'm all sad inside. Yeah, I'm being all kinds of sarcastic. :P But in good fun. To me the characters here are words and maybe an image or two. I've said it before; I don't care what happens with my characters. As long as it's interesting and I'm given something to write. Aside from...obvious attacks...which can remain anonymous. <.< >.> But yeah, I enjoy writing a character more when they're injured. Don't know why.

Party on,
Joe.
