Hm. Short version, because I'm pretty exhausted and have more to write... but the card is up and the show is up, so yay! Sorry for the delays.

Pretty much none of these matches were tough for me to decide. I don't mean that in a mean way; I mean it in a factual way. In fact, I'm probably going to be really flat and lacking in "the soft touch" for this feedback. I'm not trying to offend anyone; I thought EVERYBODY did really well this PPV and I was actually really hooked on reading most of the RPs this week, so nobody should walk away from this feeling bad. This is some of the best effort overall I've read in MONTHS.

The opener I originally had Harrison winning, because he did what he usually does, and that's really good. And this work was just as good. Cody McGinnis, I feel, was better. I'm glad Dream and Richlen got some fun work up, but it was just not the same in comparison to the other two. Good. Needs to be better. I originally didn't wanna take the chance on McGinnis because while T does GREAT when he's working WITH someone, but working solo isn't as reliable. If this were a title or contendership match, I still probably would've gone with Harrison. He did great and he's the safer bet in the long run, BUT I want to reward good effort, so I let Cody take this on... sketchy grounds.

Lita agreed with me that now was a bad time for Tremendous to take the belt. I wanted to see how hard Scott Knight could step up, and I feel like I have a really strong idea of his position on the roster. I read the roleplays, but as a story; this match was decided basically before it was roleplayed for. Hopefully now I can find him some competition that REALLY meshes well with both the Knight character and Mistress Lovecraft, as I think they're both very interesting additions to the NGIW roster and I'm glad to have them around.

I loved the Spectre Girls roleplays. I really did. This was literally the best Mouse has been written since her debut. Eve was a weaker link, but all the little things about her character made me smile, and even gush out loud about it. But my fondness for the characters can't cloud what was a better, more involved storyline crafted by Dai. Shaking up the tag division is a shot in the arm it kind of needs anyhow. I'm confident that Joe can take the titles back if he puts enough effort into it, and either way the stories that can be crafted here are more important than just leaving the titles to molder on any single team's shoulders. It's part of the reason people aren't interested in the tag-team division right now; there's nothing too interesting or dramatic happening.

Towering Inferno match. Hmmmmmm... this was probably the hardest one to judge. A lot of storyline stuff went into it, but between my own reservations and some things the team pointed out to me, I went with Intensity. The short version is I just don't feel like Nathaniel Alexander the CHARACTER is ready for the NGIW Championship/King of Hell and I don't want to put him up there before he has a chance to mature. Like wine, not... not like he's immature or something. Since he left the BLS it's been a GREAT boost for his character, and everything he's been doing has been phenomenal. I want to see it tested. I want to see him keep it up against a few stumbling blocks that I find can make or break a main event champion... but I think he's DEFINITELY fodder for the big dance somewhere in the near future. Intensity, on the other hand, HAS been tried and tested. He's a safe bet in a time where I'm trying to recover from Nir's "shitty general manager" gimmick. Just keep up the good work, Nathan, and there's some serious fucking glory in your future.

The Midway Title match... I... have reservations about what to say here. This was the only RP set on the card that I wasn't expressly fond of. It kind of devolved into something more... immature than I was looking for. BUT. But but but. I'm given to understand the handlers had fun with it, and that matters more in the end. So while I might not have been salivating over the content of the roleplays... the mechanics and presentation were really creative and really great. Scott Free is an awesome up-and-comer in NGIW and I think he's got a great future ahead of him so long as he doesn't take too many early character swerves like some of Adam's other characters have suffered. The short version of the actual result is that April has pretty well outperformed Scott Free on most of their encounters and this week was no different. I always saw Mike Harrison as a better contender for the strap as I feel the product Mike and April created was more organic and more interesting to read than the one between Free and Lynn. So, let's move both of them onto better things, better chemistry, etc. etc.

Finally the main event. This wasn't "decided before it was roleplayed for" like Tremendous vs. Knight, but I won't pretend Nightmare didn't have a hard road to hoe. My biggest skepticism when placing the title on Holland was that Will has a very busy life and it often interferes with his ability to RP consistently. Sadly, that was the case again, here. When he had the time to RP, Will was exactly everything we want an NGIW Champion to be. When he didn't... well... *shrugs* Holland had a great RP, but it wasn't the absolute fucking explosion of awesome he would've needed to beat not only his shaky reliability but the tremendous storyline that Dai has been running with Kitazawa. A roleplay I firmly believe Night has in him, mind you, but just not this week. I need to stress that I'm not "mad" or "disappointed" or whatever. It's a reality; a fact. This was a risk we knew we were taking when Will earned the strap, and it ended up playing out just like that. That's OK. It's not like I'm gonna deny him his rematch, or being in the title scene in the future. Will's a great part of this company and we're happy to have him in every way.

And that's it for now, I guess. Gonna go post the Hallowe'en thread and something for Vice. Yes, Vice.

Thots?

There were quite a few things about this show that I wasn't crazy about, but everything was well-written and well-RPed. So I'm not going to complain about anything. Just some preferences in the decisions and you're going to get that since we're all different people.

I enjoyed the opener. I completely agree with everything Wight said about this one. Mike Harrison is a great writer that I don't feel like has anything going on. By that, I mean Harrison talks a good game but he doesn't really have any heat with anybody or any real story. It's just random matches and he even directly addressed it in his promo. I had a ton of fun reading Cody's stuff and working with T on a lot of it. But I agree with Wight. I've always felt Cody was so much stronger when he's interacting with people on the roster as opposed to by himself. I'm not quite sure how to remedy that, though. He may just be one of those characters that doesn't do monologues well.

Super happy to see Scott Knight still has the Flycore. I like that character a lot. I think I like Mistress Lovecraft more, though.

I was OK with either outcome in the tag division. I'm not really sure I agree that it needed shaken up, but it doesn't hurt either. It needs challengers and hopefully we'll get some very soon.

Mr. Intensity is probably my favorite character on the roster so I'm always happy to see him win. I also like the Boy and know how much he loves this PPV, so it's extra nice to know that he's probably having a great day after this. However, I like Nate too and I'm a big fan of Nathaniel Alexander (clearly, as my character manages him). I would have really enjoyed seeing Nathaniel win this tournament and use it to push his gimmick even further. So it's one of those bittersweet matches that would have given me the same reaction either way. Kim didn't take sides because I didn't want to take sides in this. Also, because she was a major bitch to Intensity earlier and I kind of hate that she destroyed that relationship. But that's kind of what Kim does, tragically.

I don't care about the feedback on Free and April, honestly. I had a lot of fun with it. It was something different for April and I was grateful to finally have that. In absolutely honesty, I don't agree that April and Harrison had better chemistry. I think Harrison's handler is a great writer and I really enjoy the basis of the character, but the back and forth we had with April and Harrison was a bit boring for me after about the first week. Harrison and April had a string of nitpicky arguments and then it turned it "I respect you but I don't like you", "I respect you but I don't like you either", "No, you don't respect me! I respect you!", "No! I respect you, but you're being disrespectful!" "You're just confused because I don't like you. But I respect you!" So yeah. Kind of exhausting and didn't really go anywhere exciting. So, hopefully we can come together and create something with more of a dynamic between the two. I feel like there's a story there but we just haven't found it.

Wight summed up everything I had to say about the NGIW title thingamabob. I hate to say it but that scene has been boring me lately. I don't mean that in any offense to Will or Dai. Love you both. But this match had the least amount of heat out of every match on the card. I'd like to see this scene get exciting again. I have reservations about Intensity vs. hide, if I'm being honest, but I know if anybody can change my mind it'll be Boy and Dai.

Wight, I utterly agree with you. Ive got that RP in me, but I'm not there yet. Dont have the free time. Between Play Action Sports Media and school, and NGIW, I barely get time to sleep let alone roleplay with you guys and balance everything else. I'm actually working on a term paper that is due tomorrow, as I write this.

Being NGIW Champion was fun as hell, and I'd love to do it again. Funny thing is, I've now won every active title you've had here except the Hellcat and Flycore belts. Never expected I'd EVER be able to do that, considering how bad I was when I got here. Guess hard work does pay off.

I hope to remain a staple of the scene, because RPing with Dai is of course immensely fun and the rest of the NGIW main-event is just absolutely on fucking fire right now. Hell of a match too, Holland looked like a got-damn animal and hide had to stomp a fucking bomb into his head to pin him, and he STILL got up. That's as strong as I've ever looked in defeat, and since I have seriously and deeply enjoyed hide's angle he's been running since I beat him back at Red Zone, I wanna see where he's going with this. So putting the belt on him was the right way to go.

Will read the rest of the show later, but grats to Dai for getting the belt back.

First off I just wanna say BIG thanks to Wight for the kind words about the Nathaniel character and my RP'ing overall. Definitely means a lot coming from you, man. And thanks to anybody from here on out that expresses interest or enjoyment in the character. It definitely helps me realize that when I personally don't like my RP's, it's just a matter of me being my own worst critic, which happens a lot. Lol.

I completely agree with Wight's assessment of the Nathaniel character that it needs to go through the litmus test first before jumping into the fire that is the NGIW Championship scene. I will say that if the match had gone in my favor, I definitely would have run with it and made sure Nathaniel worked and was up to snuff. But I'm perfectly fine with it not going in his favor. I think Lita's right in that the win would have pushed Nathaniel's gimmick more but I have some ideas in mind for how to do that despite the loss. Specifically now that the card for the upcoming show is up.

As for the show, that was probably one of the best ones I've personally read. I always enjoy the PPV's cause of the massive-ness(?) of the matches and this one was no disappointment. The main event was insane. The part where hide kicked Holland and he basically took the "ropes" with him was brutal to visualize. I'm a big fan of hide so it was cool to see him win the match, even though I'm also a fan of Holland's as well. Lol. The rest of the show was awesome as well. The April Lynn/Scott Free match was awesome and I also enjoyed the RP's for that.

I'm definitely looking forward to RP'ing for the next one.

I don't know if you could tell, but I had a lot of fun this week. The stuff with Cody and Tremendous came off well. Obviously, I'm pleased with the results.

Show rocked, some utterly brutal shit going down. Graver still rocks.

EDIT: I am beyond glad that this thing with hide is going down well, too. Thanks, everyone.

I couldn't disagree with your feedback more, Wight. I don't think our role plays took an immature turn. I think the story was steeped in "immaturity" from the get go. I mean, the running thread was how low can you go... and I think they both nearly scratched bottom. But it was all completely intentional. April Lynn and Scott Free bring out this nasty need to one-up the other in the most bizarre ways possible simply because of mind games in each other. To assume that this is all based on sexual tension, from Scott Free's point of view, I don't think, is immature but rather an interesting and refreshing new development in an otherwise captivating little story.

To me, immature role playing is when the submission basically consists of, "you're going to lose because you suck". No imagination. Lame insults. No real substance. Sadly, this seems to be the kind of thing that gets over and wins matches around here. I don't get it. I'm trying to be as original as possible with my role plays and work with the situations I've been placed in (because I don't book, I react to booking), and I get some disheartening feedback while others who swim in this shallow pool of imagination are getting ahead. Role playing shouldn't be about one liners or clever references to NGIW lore alone. It's how they contribute to the over all telling of a story. In my opinion, Scott Free and April Lynn told a good story, and there's a gold mine of ideas to dig up based on that story.

I feel like I can post this disagreement publicly because this is, after all, a feedback thread. I'm not inviting people to jump on my back. The last thing we need is idiots trying to piss lines in the sand. So if you haven't anything constructive to add, don't add anything. Thanks for taking my opinion into consideration, Wight.

Typing this on my phone, expect stupid typos.

I get where you're coming from, Adam. Perhaps a part of the problem is not understandinprecisely what I like/dislkie about current rps and characters. I've considered setting up a rubric or at least some kind of info sheet for a while now. This feedback has bumped it up the schedule duly.

Childish insults and "owning" people and whatnot are precisely what I DONT like to see in roleplays. You're gonna have some, sure, this is an efed. WRESTLING does that. But as far as Scott April goes all I saw it building to was the batch of snitty, petty roleplays we got this PPV. Scotts match stuff went from being intense and self-aggrandizing yo weird sexual remarks and schoolyard bullying. April's stuff went from being the catty defenses of a woman in top and became "nuh-uh, YOU are!" The breath of what secured her victory was the stuff she did away from the match since it was not only FAR more palatable, but in fact damn good.

If you think stories can come out of that, I'd love to hear them. But I have no idea what those could possibly be at this point. If you'll excuse the obvious reference it reminds me of dean ambroses current angle in WWE. There should be hate. Intensity. Ambrose should be an unpredictable, pillmanesque renegade. Or even a bit more tame, like late Austin. Instead he's shooting condiments and executing minor attacks. He gets beaten up with a cinderblock by a man who betrayed their brotherhood and that's when he gets petty and silly. Where'd the fire go? Where'd the unhinged, unpredictable star in the making?

I want to movie April and Free apart because they became petty and lame. I know both characters are better than that. I don't see them being that kind of better WITH each other, but again, if you have any ideas id love to hear them. I'm certainly not the only source of ideas, here.

EDIT: Candidly, I went back and re-read the RPs. While I don't feel my decision would've changed at all, it has less to do with "telling a bad story" or "mudslinging" or "pettiness" FOR THE MOST PART and more to do with Lita's dialogue/character being more punchy and all of the non-match stuff that she did in addition to the awesome match stuff. I understand that's not really Free's "thing", but it's what I have.

What made me upset and bored etc. etc. was basically everything after "why don't we just fuck already", which to me was just... the same storyline I seem to see when Adam and Lita get together... again... and while it hasn't turned out that way it put a serious downer on the rest of the back-and-forth.

I recognize that's a me thing you can do nothing about and I'll do my best to curb it in the future. So, sorry about all that. Like I said, I've had a hell of a week and my wording was FAR less then perfect more than once in this thread. Sorry about that.

Keep up the good work with Free. If you still wanna work with Lita, fine. We can find ways to do that. I just don't personally care for the idea of romance, even some kind of romance/rivalry between them. Is it gonna make either of you lose all your matches? No. Just makes me less invested in your characters. I don't have to be 100% invested in someone's characters for them to win matches. History should state that much.

But anyhow, thanks for taking the time to ask questions and be mature. I think we learned a lot. I know I did, anyhow.
