Hi all thinking of getting composite boat - coming from a plastic x-ray. Have only tried db exclusive fusion & fusion2. Found fusion sucky and hard to turn - fusion 2 big improvement - much looser. I like the x-ray's manoeuvarability and have surfed a plastic neutron before & found it harder to turn, but as with any boat I realise that it takes time to adapt to and get the set up just right to suit. I am 11 stone and 5 foot 8 so don,t want a boat that's too big for me to control yet still want the speed to enjoy my surfing even more. I would value your opinions on the Neutron and Reflex - old and new - as I'm probably going to buy second hand. Thanks Matt |

Hi Matt, I'd stay away from both the old Reflex and Neutron. The new ones have both improved but the main reason is that the old rear humps are very high and could hut your back. The Reflex is more "designed" for your weight but I'd say the Neutron RV is the better boat. Some squad members have switched back to the new Neutron after having a Reflex. However from the boats you mention the new Fusion would by my choice, it's had a lot of good reviews so far. Hope this helps, Harry |

having tried out/paddled a Fusion, owned a Reflex, 2 Neutrons and now paddling an RV Neutron I have no hesitation in recomending either of the Neutrons. My RV has a slightly different seating position than the origional Neutron, but i'd personally put the origional Neutron way above the Fusion, faster, less sluggish on take off and all round manoverability. It was a brilliant boat. This is only my opinion, I've padled them all and would suggest you try before you buy rather than listening to talk and reviews. If you buy a Neutron you'll have no regrets.....Chris |

Thanks Harry & Chris for your replies. I know it would be best if I tried the boats out to see which I get on with best but it's not always easy to get someone to let you try out their new toy! I'm still interested to hear what you all think of the boats though - speaking from experience and personal opinion - I will take it on board when I choose the boat. |
