anybody have any ideas about seat positioning i.e pros/cons of it being futher forward, or futher back towards the fins? Andy |

On all my HP boats I have the back of the seat exactly one third of the boats total length from the tail, plus or minus two inches max. It has worked in every boat I've had for the last five years. That said you need to find the 'sweet spot' for your boat and weight, which you then need to match the fins to. Too far forward will mean you are surfing more off the front rails and not relying on the fins so much (meaning you can reduce fin length), but too far back will adversely affect your trim, which impacts on your stability and roll but can make the boat more responsive through the fins and hence the turns. Tricky one, and frankly it all comes down to your surfing style and personal preference... Chris |
