The forecast is 8m with a 15 sec period and thats just massive.
Anyone going on a road trip to hunt down some big ones.

Well done lads, nice to see waves being caught.
Jonny that wave at 1.03 was huge for a beach break wave.
My spots were off the chart today (well thats my excuse anyway)
Im sure the tow in surfers got waves at mullaghmore this morning. It would have been 30ft on the face today easy.

Thanks Andy,

I was thinking of changing my RV to a Boost, but having watched your vid I won't be rushing to sell my RV, you were surfing it really well! It didn't look like the Boost was any quicker, through the turns or down the line, what did you think?

Cheers Chris,

Yeah im happy with the RV, seems to do what i want it do do in most conditions. looking at the boost being surfed in those waves with its lack of volume, i reckon the rv was the better boat. ive had a quick surf in the boost in small waves and it was alot of fun and reckon it is better designed for the smaller waves.

I think Jonny has surfed it in quite a few conditions now and im sure he could fill you in alot better having surfed both boats

Hey Chris, i would just rule out the boost yet. I reckon that that boat will only see surf like that the odd time each year. How many people would paddle out into surf that size? The boost just looked to small in those conditions. If i owned those two boats id have been in the RV on that day. The boost looked really snappy on the inside and it looked real loose during a slash turn off a close out. Id ask jonny in a month or so what its really like. From looking at it on the video id say that jonny might just be to big and powerful for the boat and it might be more suited to a paddler between 10 and 12 stone. Time will tell. Id love to get a few hours in one just see how it compares to the others.
Anyhow going out on a waveski in the morning for the first time in about 8 years. 3m swell and a SE wind thats perfectly offshore. Mind you im not long in from work and its proper freezing out tonight. I reckon im going to feel the cold, no cagg or pfd.

Thanks Dessie,

I'm not ruling it out completely, but I've often counselled people that you shouldn't change a boat simply for the sake of change, and given how happy I am with the RV at the moment I'm certainly going to stick with it for a good while yet (unless I win the lottery, in which case I'll have one of everything please!!!). Right now I have an RRS, an RV, and the XS on the way. I don't think I'll EVER find a boat to outshine my RRS on perfect, steep, hollow waves under 6ft, and when it's bigger and/or less perfect then the RV or the XS will get a run out.

However, the fact that I'm seeing people selling their RV's after trying a Boost id an indication that the Boost may be one for future consideration...

Have a good one tomorrow, I miss Ireland and hope to be back next year so that we can share a few waves maybe, and all the other guys I talk to on here.

It would be good to have you over and show you some new spots chris. There is so many waves that you'd love to have a go on north of easky.
The ski session was fantastic today. Harry has a full on quiver of different skis for me to try out and he is already trying to get me to go back down again on friday. The forecast is even better than todays. The body is telling me that it might not be ready for another two hour session so soon. I was so knackered at work today, i just didnt have the head for it (work that is).
The problem is which boat would you bring over with you when you get across.
Were hatching a plan to get some new glass boats for the club over the next few months, you never know you might not even need a boat.

Ha ha, I know that feeling Dessie! I'm not sure yet if its unfortunately or fortunately, but I've just been diagnosed with a condition that means I have to cut my working hours and surf more (well, actually the doc said aerobic exercise, but I can't think of anything better..?). My Wife doesn't believe me, but he also said I have to eat 50g or dark chocolate every day!!!

As for boats, I certainly wouldn't bring the RRS 'cos last time I brought it over I found I was very limited on when I could surf it; it is a very fickle boat, but awesome in the right conditions. I'd probably bring the RV and the XS to cover all bases, but of course if you guys have a stash of boats I could just fly over instead :excited:
