RP Academy
----------------

The core of any roleplaying site is the quality of its members. But what defines the quality is each individual. It can vary from how active they are, their contributions to the site, participation or quality of work. There are quite a few things, but the most obviously important quality to the individual would have to be the individual's ability to roleplay effectively. But what is the proper way to RP? What line divides the many different RPers from each other? Being a good RPer is more than long posts and proper punctuation. It's such skill that an infinite amount of information could be laid out in the form of a paragraph. The academy is made for this purpose, to improve the individual quality of all its members.

Core of Roleplaying
---

Roleplaying has been around for years, from such classical games as Dungeons and Dragons, to contemporary themes such as Halo and Naruto. The concept is very simple. A person creates a personal character and gives them qualities and shape so that they may implement themselves into the ongoing universe. Although that process is quite simple, the true challenge to every RP is interacting with others and the world around you while remaining fair and entertaining not only for yourself, but for all the others around you. To some this comes natural, but not everyone is so gifted. A good RPer would have good length to their post, include the others in their own perspective, interact with the world, yet only contribute their own control.

Qualities of a Good Roleplayer
---

Lengthy Posts: This is much more than what is stated by the name. Sure, a good RPer will never post a two line RP. But they would never give so much information that it would dull the experience or bring third world effects into the story, such as unimportant characters and needless information. Minimally, a good RPer can dish out 2 paragraphs per post. This is easily done by presenting one's thoughts and emotions, some of the scenery, and interaction with other players. When one goes into a lot of detail, you would find that even 2 paragraph posts are too short.

Staying on Topic: As fascinating as what you had for breakfast might be, it's inappropriate to bring it up when you're being attacked by a sword-wielding ninja. Relevance makes every single post count towards the final goal and not dragging away the theme for useless information. It's fine to state some information such as how your character is feeling, but things as what others said two months back, or how your character flirted with their partner last week is of little relevance. Unless, of course, that's the point of the whole roleplay, in which case feel free to do so.

Control Management: It's very tempting to take hold of another's character and turn them into pin cushions by flinging an infinite amount of kunai at them. But that would probably be the worst attack anyone could attempt. When you create a character, it's like signing a pact that you will only control his actions and his alone. Going out of those grounds brands you one of the most infamous titles possible, Godmodder. Godmodding not only gives you a bad reputation, but you'll quickly find out that people wouldn't like your participation in their RPs. Godmodding is not only limited to that, in fact there are many other things that go far beyond what I could list. And so, I have provided the AMP in the rules section. If you want to follow it, be sure to go read it soon if you haven't already.

Keeping it Fun: Lastly, a person who is able to keep RPs fun and entertaining all the way through is a true Elite roleplayer. Remember that an RP is not a single story, but a mix of everyone's perspectives. If there's a theme in play, go along with it and make it as entertaining as possible. Even a chore as dull as pulling weeds could turn into a grand adventure if everyone RPs well enough.

What the Academy will Teach You
---

Classes will be given, each with 3 members and an Admin, or a person who I deem permitted. Each class will be given a purpose, and each member will post. Then the proctor (Admin) will make a post, and give a few tips to each roleplayer. This will continue until the purpose is completed, after which you will be given points if we think you've improved. These points are not points for threads, but they will give advancements to your character.
Good roleplayers can also participate in the academy, simply for the purpose of gaining these advancements. A list of them has been given for your convenience.
