![]() Yeah, I know, Linksword's idea (posting the box art), but it's not a bad one to use for: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed If there's one thing I know about Lucasarts and Nintendo, it's that Nintendo doesn't put a Star Wars game on its consoles that isn't pretty darn good in some respect (with the possible exception of the Clone Wars games for the little kids). Force Unleashed isn't an exception to that rule, not by a longshot. Wow. You play as Starkiller, Darth Vader's secret apprentice, who is tasked with hunting down and killing Jedi. However, I can't go into too much detail without spoiling a chunk of the storyline (which is extremely good, btw), so I'll move on to the gameplay. The gameplay is where the game really shines. Nintendo has made incredible use of the Wii controllers, possibly the best and most immersive control scheme I have seen yet. For example, swinging the Wiimote right-to-left will make you swing right-to-left. Pushing with the Nunchuk will make you do Force Push. All in all, it's incredible, and pretty soon you'll forget that you're playing as another character (I literally did, during the first level, before the storyline really develops, I forgot it was Starkiller there. It's that good). Customization is great too. As you progress through the game, you gain a variety of radical Force Powers and Force-saber combos and can upgrade them. You also gain different costumes, saber crystals (both those that change blade color, of which there are an amazing amount of, and combat crystals, which augment various combat abilities), and several saber hilts. Basically, it's really really good. The only complaint would be that the story mode is a little on the short side, but it's a blast and I've already started replaying it. And one more thing, but I'll mention that in the final summary. Despite being an inferior system to the 360 and PS3 in terms of graphics and overall power, the Wii has another claim to fame: multiplayer. Multiplayer lets you and a friend pick one of over 20 different characters ranging from The Force Unleashed itself, both movie trilogies, and the Expanded Universe (basically, anything else). You can battle in one of 9 different locations, using not only your skills but also various powerups, such as gaining unlimited Force temporarily or summoning soldiers to help fight for you. It's a fairly solid multiplayer, and a pretty fun one with the amazing game Force Unleashed is. So have I made my point? Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is definitely one of the best games on the Wii so far, and possibly the most realistically immersive to date. Story: 9.5/10 (You can tell they had George Lucas involved, it's pretty good for not the longest game) Gameplay: 10/10 (Nothing like working up a sweat carving stormtroopers into tiny little pieces or throwing rocks in their faces. It's just....fun) Graphics: 8/10 (Obviously not as good as the other systems, but pretty good for the Wii, although granted I have seen 360ish graphics on MP3C, so....) Sound: 10/10 (This is what I was referring to. On top of classic remixed Star Wars music and great new soundtracks made specifically for Force Unleashed, the Wiimote's speaker is put to great use, basically making the sounds your saber does, which is all too appropriate considering your Wiimote is mainly for saber actions. Really well done, Lucasarts) Controls: 10/10 (Not much I can add on here. Just....wow. Granted, there's like two techniques that are a little hard to pull off, but you have 50 other more conventional and powerful ones, so you quickly forget) Overall: 9.5/10 (There really isn't much to complain about the game itself. Controls are unbelievable and the game is a great Wii title overall) Edited by Eclipse, December 20 2008, 02:37 PM.
