Finally got the Khan back yesterday, after six months at Double J's shop. The promised reinforcements never happened, and the frame was still bent. So piss on it, I ain't waiting another six months. Went to Home Depot for MAPP gas and brazing rods, and picked up the last 7 feet of uncoated brakeline at NAPA, then tried to figure out the whole brazing thing. Ain't hard at all. ![]() You can tell these are the first joints I ever brazed. Looks like a fawkin monkey did them. But at least they're there, and I can go back and clean 'em up with another gob when I strip it to paint it properly. All the short tubes tying the inner and outer tubes, and upper and lower tubes, together, are new, as is the inverted U. ![]() This started out as a single diagonal brace. Then I said what the hell. ![]() These don't do anything but make it really hard to get my Wild WIlly driver inside. But I like the way they look. I know the joints aren't perfect (a blind man with no internet access could see that) but each one is better than the last. And I really like brazing tubers. I see a 1.9 rock buggy in my future. |

Looking good Stu. Brazing is pretty easy really, it's all in having the right torch and rods. |

I think brazing is pretty easy too. It's getting the steel bent and cut right that is the more difficult part! Looks good Stu! |

brazing= easy bending=hard looks good stu. by the way around here advanced is the best place to get the uncoated line. auto zone only carries coated some bs about a federal law. napa is usually more money. also advanced carries the 25' roll's. they are kinda hard to get straight again but for small cross tubes it works great, and the cost is a lot less. by the way i have pretty much a endless supply of 1/8" rod so dont buy that i can get it whenever you need it |

I'll look into one of those 25-footers. 7 feet cost $10.25 at NAPA, but it was on the way. It's worth making a special trip for 25 feet of it, though. |

for what size last time I got 3/16 it was like 12 bucks but that was at mason's and sometimes they hooked me up. 1/4" was around 20 beans. |
