With the order of an AX10, X-Trail, Rock Crushers, Stock Car Wheels, and A Proline Blazer body, it looks like its time to gear up for the spring season. Im keeping the Highlift, but gonna throw 2.2's on it for the 2.2 scale class. A Few questions. Body mounting, body posts through the side I assume will be the best way? If not what? This pertains to Stu mainly, How did you mod the Clod grill to fit the K5, as in mounting and everything? |

Personally I've grown to hate side-mounted posts. They seem to snag on everything. I think TLT posts fit the X-Trail but I'm not sure. Either way it's not hard to stick something on that'll work. The Clod grille is pretty easy. Put the grille in from behind while the body is still clear and draw a line around it. Then cut on the line, maybe a little smaller than it has to be so the grille fits tight. Then Shoe Goo it in place after paint. Good to have ya back

I've been using velcro to mount my bodies lately. At least the scale stuff. That way nothing shows outside of the body. Works well! |

Dont need the servo mounts Matt, managed to get the extra set that came with the ax10 to work anyways. It showed up today, and this thing is damn cool. Love the tires, chassis and truck itself. Tires might be a tad big, but we will see. Pics later. |

Ordered my AX10 from TheCrawlerStore, along with some stock car wheels and Rock Crushers. Then from Stormer I order a Proline Blazer Body which I have not recived yet. I planned to run a sprung suspension setup, but decided that for a large tired scaler, the droop would be better. AX10 shocks were to long, but T-maxx shocks were just right. They offered to much travel though, so I stuck about 3/4 in of fuel tubing in the shocks to keep them limited. I managed to keep axle steer to none. I've noticed that it can get pretty bad on droop setups. Next thing to deal with was the electronics. Standard electronics for a scaler, atleast in my book. Hs-645mg, Lrp WaterProof Runner Plus, DX3 w/ pro reciver, and a trusty old 55t lathe. Battery is a radioshack GP 3300 that I've had for two years, still gets a full charge. 3300mah. Tires are RC4wd Rock Crusher's mounted on Gunmetal stockcar wheels. 3oz of weight in the front per wheel. Full foams. Some pics. I'll grab better ones tomarrow. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Coles, you piss me off. Haha jk man, thanks for the wheels. Why were you so eager to get rid of them? Anyways, picked up some 2.2 rc4wd beadlocks from Coles at the comp today. Took the rock lizards of the axial beadlocks, and took the Moab and Swampers off the rc4wd's. At the very end of the day, I threw them on to see how they were and they did outstanding imo. So now the Blazer body, rock crushers, and w/e is going on the highlift and this is going to be my 2.2 scale. I might also just be able to swap bodies and tires to run 1.9 and 2.2 but we'll see. I want to pick up a bushwacker body for this, along with some scale stuff. I've got a few ideas. Also picked up the trusty savage bumpers from freddie's today and mounted the from up. Going to work on the rear in a little bit. Thinking about a fairlead on the bottom? we'll see. Shrink tubbed the links, that way I dont have to strip the green, haha. Lazy ass. ![]() ![]()

THat X-Trail is a little asskicker. But take that shrink tube off the links. It's gonna grip the rocks like you've got another tire bolted to the skidplate. |

Well this seems dead but its not. Had to hack the chassis, almost an inch, just to get the look I wanted with the Fj40. Swapped the lower links for traxxas links, and painted up the body. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Who knew axial was nice enough to throw in a spare tire carrier in their kit? ![]() ![]()
