No, seriously, dude, that’s our premise. Rules Plot It's fall in Kanto and Team Rocket has just occupied the Saffron City district. While the world watches on in abject horror, Moira Del Rosso has bigger problems on her hands. She's just gotten fired. Now, armed with nothing but a vague hope that she may find her father, she and her old Squirtle police buddy set out for a pilgrimage down the road her dad and many trainers have taken before her. The goal is simple - walk the Way of the Pokemon League, meet some friends, stay away from the Gyms. But Team Rocket's keeping Kanto's policemen busy with the promise of something larger and more dangerous to come. And, as luck would have it, destiny (and all her burnt bridges) isn't about to leave Moira alone. World-building What's the social status of Pokemon in this universe? Pokemon are fully-sentient and speak largely English. They're given the right to take up jobs, just like human beings. It's not uncommon to see a Jynx as a receptionist, or a Nidorina giving you your annual performance appraisal. Battling, like most sports, is considered an alternative vocation and battling pokemon, in turn, athletes. Battling pokemon may form teams of no more than 6 members, and all teams must be accompanied by a someone to serve as their manager-cum-League-liaison - a position better known as the 'Trainer'. The minimum age to qualify as a trainer is 10. What about wild pokemon? Do they exist? The 'wild' pokemon community are nomadic and do not hold steady jobs. The 'civilised' pokemon community tend to view them the same way us people view the Pavee and Romani. Still, like all Pokemon, the Pokemon League deems it unethical (and illegal in areas) to put them in a ball unless they chose to go into it. Is dying a normal thing? Death by battling is uncommon and considered highly tragic. As long as safety measures (and the Marquis of Queensberry Rules) are upheld, death should by right never occur. Hey there, everyone! When I said Moira has 90's hair, she said Falkner had teen idol boyband hair syndrome. Dai I only remember Falkner being part of the police in Pokemon Adventures...with Surge being a Rocket. Lookin' forward to seeing how this all unfolds. Checking Bulbapedia, you're right! Falkner's job only appears in the manga. It's largely fanon-adopted, though - I didn't even realise it was Pokespe-exclusive! - there's a great ask blog on tumblr called Ask-Falkner, and he's answered several questions as a policeman. I just decided it'd be fun to roll with it, given Moira's job. The plot more or less acts as an origin story for several GSC characters - you'll see it turn Falkner into a Gym Leader, as well as turn Silver into his usual grumpypants self. (Also, without giving too much away, some Gen 4 characters, like Volkner, are in here too.) I won't be sticking purely to the manga canon, though - so Surge isn't a Rocket, but he's not a cop, either. xD The fellow with the Pikachu is actually an original character called Verne (as a joke, I based him on the blonde elf from UBOS, but later realised that character was called Gus. Verne's the redhead, apparently. bricked). The Pikachu's called Jules. Red Spearow How sweet. Group hug for the ex-officer of the law. Say, a pokemon police game would make an excellent game! Oh, gosh, you're right! I'd love to play something like that. (The closest thing we have to it's Pokemon Ranger, right?)
