I'd try to minimize traditional mmo 'grinding' as much as possible. Games should be fun to play, not a chore. Perhaps a more in depth armor system would be something to experiment with so instead of say: 'Leather armor +20 armor, Full plate +50 armor' You could make it so that wearing heavier armor actually slows you down to a crawl, whilst truly providing a solid defence against piercing and slashing weapons, but on the other hand making you more vulnerable to blunt weapons, electricity (magic) and fast-moving opponents. While light armor on the other hand would allow you to be far more mobile and dart around an enemy, dodging his attacks instead. But, if you get hit, you're going down. I think such a system might add more depth to combat and you'd actually have to think about what armor or weapon to use for what battle, but its something you'd have to tinker with extensively. |
