Okay, so as you know I have been discussing a Sins of a Solar Empire RP possibility and how cool I think it would be, others agree. However, many of you have never heard of, or at least never played it. So I would suggest visiting their homepage to read about the game, particularly how it is played, but I did not make this topic to go through the game itself, but merely solidify some ideas for RPing on it. First of all, the game allows renaming of planets and capital ships (which are basically heroes) so this could be used to make our own empires, despite there only being 3 races in the game itself. (Which is not necessarily a bad thing) This allows us to bypass their basic lore if we wish and make each of our empires unique. Now, I have thought up a few rules that will hopefully add to the RP experience, and keep it moving, as well as allow beginner/less advanced players (myself may be included) to not getting their butts whooped while we play and they are as follows:

1. Obliterating a player entirely knocking them out of the game is forbidden.
Why? This way people who are less experienced don't have to worry about being knocked out of the game because others are better than they are. Sins has a rather steep learning curve and can be difficult to master. The most damage one can do to another is destroy all of their buildings, fleets, and take every planet except their home planet.
Well, what about the person who just got whooped? One planet an empire does not make.

2. When a person is 'destroyed' they must ally with the aggressor and serve as a vassal or slave, or however the aggressor wishes to treat them.
Why? This can greatly further the RP potential. What's having an empire without a few slaves and slave revolts? Of course, that is only if the slave or vassal isn't kept under watch by their rulers. Also, it leads to potential secret alliances in which and outside power can help the revolting power. Political fun! Now we're talking.
Well, how will the aggressor intend to keep their word? What's the point of having a useless slave if they can't help? If I can't threaten destruction there's not much more I could use against them if they don't do my wishes. This is true and somewhat of a flaw in my plan. I guess we could rely on an honor system, or actually use destruction as a threat, if the person doesn't wish to be destroyed of course. Any suggestions would help.

Quite simply put, this would be a diplomacy-style RPing experience. Each person would RP as their empire, but also can RP individually with their capital ships, each fleet admiral having a different personality. It is not required you play the game as normal. (You may just want to have one planet) However, I believe most people will assume their roles as the game would work. These are just two sort of basic rules. Any suggestions for others or ideas in general would be greatly appreciated.
