As life goes on, and the rping community continues to function, there are certain things overused, and overdone. For example, how many times have you seen a blood elven mage used in an rp as a wanderer or...How many times have you seen the one boy that can save the world, the mysterious night elf, the battle hardened dwarf, the evil demon, the human farm, etc etc. Well, I've done my share of various...cliche and overused Rps, along with others that were quite successful and original. Now, I'm looking for input. I want -you- the viewer, Rper, and critic to give me something so original, so out there and yet something you're interested in. I will consider all ideas as valid ones. However, please don't spell out the entire way the Rp would work. Thanks~ Kit |

2001: A Space Odyssey is one of the coolest films I've ever seen (ending? Wtf...) and if you haven't seen it, you probably should. It's sci-fi, which I know not many people aren't that fond of, but... Also, a retooled Heart of Darkness could be cool. As well as lots of other things that escape me at the moment. |

-A goblin who takes on the role of a paladin, but ends up turning every situation into a flaming wreck of destruction, death, and decay. -A human warlock that is bent on returning souls, not stealing them. -Night elf that desires to burn down forests, and kill everything -A small fairy that tricks others into letting it help them, but ends up guiding them into a death trap -An orc that works towards peace for all beings, even those that hate it/him/her -A drunkard that acts like it knows martial arts, but ends up making a fool of itself, and nearly getting killed -A dancer. I've never seen any player do an RP involving a character that dances professionally. /shrug If you need more, or want to state that I've been too specific, let me know xD |

I've found that no matter if it sounds cliche, rps of someone whom has an extream amount of power, but doesnt know how to use it, and is otherwise not knowledgeable in anything, usually works well. |

A friend of mine played a Cartographer once, that rp was quite good. The problem is a lot of people lack imagination, plus, in a lot of rp's it seems that every character is out to save/destroy the world/kingdom. Just try to scale down the scope of your story so to speak and a bunch of interesting plots become available imo. |

^_^ Oh, and also give me ideas for places I shou;d make, like a elven forest (Just an example.) @Osh I'll probably be using the dancer. @Tenchi Anyone could be an exotic dancer if you were hallucinating o.o @blindsorcerer Never heard of an RP with a cartographer in it. |

You mean a burlesque dancer, and you know damn well what it was for. Besides, I enjoy the idea of a lesbian call-girl becoming sheriff of a town after killing a raid on a convoy she's on. What can I say, I'm altering the definition of westerns and merging it with science fiction. *shrugs* I'd rather be rping with whacky ideas then sitting around and spinning my wheels. Besides, going places no one rarely decides to look for rp ideas is a hobby of mine. Coked-up whore? Done it. First-person Hitman that describes kills so gruesome it gets your heart pumping? Done it. Creatures coming so deep from the depths of my imagination that I've never seen head nor tail of it before? Done it. What've you done? Kit, you want something original? I'll give ya' advice on how to go about it. First, drop the standards to an rp. You'd be amazed on how structured you put your rps in without realizing it. It's some sort of domestic brainwashing we put ourselves through, but nothing is really 'exempt' from being used in an rp. Try looking at plotlines differently. The good don't always win, and there isn't always a world to come back to when victory is being won by your knight in shining armor. There are always possibilities. I'd recommend writing your ideas out on a tablet, fleshing out those characters, and expanding on those ideas until they become stories. I can't tell you how many story ideas I've locked away waiting until I find the right publisher. *shrugs* Also, if you want to learn to write a little better as sort of presenting your rp with a little more finesse, I recommend text rping. It removes the 2-3 sentences blurbs you get out in a matter of seconds and navigating across a map with puppets. It doesn't have to be a permanent solution, but I'd recommend it regardless. I'm always looking for a group to text rp with, feel em' out, hone their abilities. After all, it's no fun being good at something playing with other people who have just scratched the surface and not share the love. ;) |
