Okay, so for those of you who have been keeping up with this, you probably know by now that I'm planning to bring it to the public during my spring break, April 5 to April 13. The problem is, I need to start getting the people interested in this to start preparing so when we do do it, we don't have to sit around and wait for people to come up with ideas. So, with the following profile, I'm going to ask that those of you who are interested to post your characters and a little backstory behind them. Whatever you folks want to include such as nationality, precedence, etc is up to you, but I will be posting a continent map as soon as I finish it.
For those of you who are worried about not being able to come up with ideas, I assure you that there are hundreds of things you can be doing here. You folks could be coming in from the West straight off the docks to having skipped around boomtowns and winded up in Lamm for whatever reason, the choice is yours. Since we'll be trying to make a town here, though, there is always the possibility of falling back on the idea of just being a citizen of Lamm and rolling with the tide. If so, there are plenty of jobs, roles, or professions for your characters to take up if you choose to do so:
I'll update the list as I think of more jobs, but feel free to come up with your own roles and stories to add to the flavor of the saga. As we move on with the story, we will slowly drift away from Lamm and into other parts of the continent, so the more you folks put into this, the more you're going to get back. As you folks post your profiles and I approve them, I'll slowly be editing and adding those of you who have taken on a profession onto the maps. For those of you willing to go against the grain, feel free to create your own towns, forts, camps, etcetra and I'll add them to the continental map. ------------------- TECHNICAL INFORMATION: Setting: Western/Badlands (although, I'm not picky on the time period others choose to have their characters at when they participate, so long as they know I'll be using guns.) Style of weaponry: Up to the 1920s with guns and armaments. Map of Choice: Preferably Elune, but I'm willing to expand into Cotm v1.1 or LoK once we move out of the badlands and into the east. NOTE: For those of you who are worried about whether or not this is set on Earth, it isn't. I'm just tired of having to do medieval, dark ages crap and figured that if I could get a saga like this down, it'd be nice to add to my collection. What you choose to bring to the party is up to you. --------------------------------- WEAPONS: All weaponry for characters, including firearms, may be anything used or made up to the 1920s in real time. This is to keep the scenario of our characters weaponry ranging from single-shot muskets to assault rifles with armor-piercing rounds popping up. Although, I am not against people using medieval characters with swords, etcetra so long as they are aware that magic isn't common place here (Yet.. more detail below). I really am not a stickler for what you guys use as weapons so long as it's within reason, so I encourage you to do your research at the following sites: http://www.csnavy.org/weapons.htm http://www.navyarms.com/html/sa_rev_of_west.html There are many other sites out there that list weaponry in the old west as well as detail them, but I found these ones to be the most helpful, although lacking in volume in some areas. What you give your character is up to you, but if I see anything that looks like it doesn't belong in this saga, then expect a PM from me about it. ---------------------------------- BACKGROUND: The gist of this RP is simply a western on another world. We use weapons from the actual west and creep slowly into uncharted territory. This saga is about exploring the unknown and how a town deals with colonizing in hostile territory. Expect a lot of fights, politics, and action in this story because there will be several radical twists I will throw in to keep you all on your toes, so those of you worried about this just being "a spaghetti western", don't be. There will be a number of eras on this continent that are conflicting and fighting for territory, so use your imagination and expect something memorable as Lamm moves into the Savage East! ---------------------------------- MAGIC: At this point in time, there is no 'real' magic to speak of. Sure there are rumors and talk of practices of the Occult and other such schools of thought, but there really isn't anything to go off of. So, at this point in time I'd like to ask anybody that would like magic with their characters to wait. As we slowly move East, we're going to be dipping into another culture that uses it heavily, so its not like technology/guns will reign supreme here. I'm not above the idea of people 'acting' like they can practice magic, though, to scam people out of money. Name: Hong Xu Age: 28 Height: 5'6" Weight: 138 lbs. Race: Oriental ("Chinese") Bio: Originally born in the Far East, he grew up in a major city where he learned how to fight using martial arts and other lesser known fighting styles. At the age of 18, his family payed for his trip over to (insert whatever Oz names this place) in hopes of him being able to one day pay for their own trips. Until he was 24 he worked with the railroad company, a popular choice for immigrants from the Far East, where he picked up gambling. Strangely enough he won nearly every time, but unknown to him he actually had an innate ability to calculate probabilities, memorize orders, hold numbers in his head, and 'count cards'. He left the railroad company to begin a career as a professional gambler. Using the small money he earned to enter a tournament, which he won, he nearly quadrupled the amount of money he had. Soon he began traveling around winning numerous prestigious poker tournaments. After earning enough money, he bought a horse for faster travel (he didn't use the railroads he built knowing what shoddy workmanship was done in some parts) and soon began making a name of himself. Because he did not have a bank account, nor a house for that matter, he carried all of his cash in a sack. One day, because of his sack (Of money, you pervs), he was nearly robbed. Being well trained in martial arts allowed him to fend off the bandits. After this incident, he decided that he needed better protection than his own fists could provide and bought two Daos (Chinese swords) of which he was very proficient in because of his training. Eventually, for ranged engagements (which he hated. He believed gunmen to be cowards) he purchased two small single shot pistols which he could conceal in his sleeves. Although not very powerful, he is extremely accurate and rarely misses his mark. Recently, he sent a message back home saying that he had enough money to pay for his family's trips, but has not received a reply in months. (Please excuse my terrible grammar word choice, etc, I wasn't writing formally) Traits: Calm, cool tempered, logical, dislikes ranged engagements. His morals are high and does not like prostitution, corruption, thieving, or anything "immoral", but his morals are not set by the laws of The State, but of his own and sometimes conflict with "The Law". Very skilled in swordsmanship and fist fighting, very fast and agile, but in a pinch he will use his two single shots. Still has his horse (I haven't thought of a name yet), his sack of money and wears traditional silk Far East clothing. Weapons: Two Daos named "Wind" and "Rain", two small single shot pistols (Don't know caliber or names of guns or anything but does it really matter?), fists, legs, anything he can find. |

Name: Miller Slate Age: 47 Height:5'10" Weight:178 lbs. Race: Caucasian Occupation: Lamm's ferryman. He's been in Lamm since he was a kid, and spent most of his childhood toying with his pop's guns and boats, and a made a living working on the railroad. With nowhere to go, he chose to stay in Lamm. He wears a good 'ol brown leather hat along with casual Lamm clothes, but never gets really dressed up. He has shaggy gray hair and a white beard. His hands are normally dirty from fixing boats or shootin' guns. He has a pessimistic attitude but it is found that he can be a normal fun loving guy when not on the job. He enjoys hanging at the tavern and talking with old friends, and discussing the mysteries that lie to the East. Weapons: 1 Winchester Model 1873 Rifle (44-40) 1 Remington Model 1858 Revolver (44-caliber) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------He may not be fully done, kinda screwy atm. |

Name: Josh Williams Age: 24 Height: 4'7" Weight: 144 lbs Race: Caucasian Occupation: Originated from the cold north, his family moved to Lamm when he was 4 years old. He's always been interested in swords, during his childhood he would play with wooden swords and duel his brother Michael. Michael is his twin brother, and when he turned 20 he headed back north. He eventually turned into a lumberjack in Lamm after dropping out of school. Years after he moved to Lamm, he lost his parents in a car accident and has been living on his own ever since. Josh has been collecting swords from all over Lamm and now has a collection of 53 swords. He has always been a snitch on his friends and has a very short temper. He's been expelled in 3 different schools for pulling out a small knife several times against one of his peers. Josh spends his time carving wooden swords from some of the extra lumber he has, making different shapes and sizes. He eventually sells them to make some nice money off of them. Weapons: His traditional two-handed claymore sword. PS: I probably have some mistakes in spelling and grammar, but THATS OK! Well... to me... |

Twin, this isn't Earth. So there is no scotland and not the same 'year' so to speak, so your going to have to remove the scottsman stuff. You can make your character look like a scottsman and act like a scottsman but he just can't be from there. Although I kind've question the whole car accident thing, I guess it could happen in one of The States with the original cars in some sort of freak accident... but uhhh.. yeah. Also, your height/weight ratio is screwed up. If your character was 6''7 and weighed 144 lbs, he'd probably be on his way to the morgue from emaciated starvation. Your ethnicity, if hes just scottish would probably be caucasian. Make those fixes and I'll approve ya'. |

Name: Joseph Wilfort Age: 39 Height: 6" Weight: 165 lbs Race: Caucasian Background: Joe grew up in a poor town, which were spread all over the land he was born in. Growing up Joe used to head to the town's blacksmithing guild and look at their work and arts. Being inspired, Joe started joining groups and clubs for blacksmithing at age 15, and eventually became quite good. As a blacksmith, Joe makes the usual tools for the everyday world (horseshoes, etc). He also decided to go into weaponsmithing, because he wanted do try his own projects. Doing so, he started out making amateur knives, but eventually was able to make replica of old-time weapons. As of right now, Joe works at a blacksmith forge in Lamm, and travels along to do work for other cities. He wears simple clothing, only he likes to wear a long, brown trench coat (he thinks it makes him look cool). He has a short beard, hair that is goes down to his scapula. Weapons He carries around a 1875 Schofield-model Revolver that was given to him by his Father, however, it's not really that great of a gun. He also has a sharpened knife that is hidden within his trench coat, that he uses for emergencies. |

I better start seeing some gunfighters here or most of you will be staring down the barrel of a gun and finally understand how much historic weight the movie The Last Samurai really has. =P |

Name: Christopher "Chris" Goodwin Age: 40 Height: 5'10 Weight: 164 Race: Caucasian Occupation: Christopher is a Local Miner, born and raised in Lamm. He's a quiet man, and is very shy. He has a warm heart, but many problems in his past prevent him from feeling comfortable around certain people. He gets nervous easily, and is seen blushing at the most awkward of times. However, Chris has a strong sense of justice, despite his many cowardly shortcomings. When he draws his gun, he's likely to aim longer, but makes his shots count. He won 3rd place in a local shooting contest once, and the townsfolk describe it as "The only time Chris felt truly worthy." Most times, he wears a faded off white thermal shirt, dark blue jeans, a faded brown leather belt, and just as faded boots. Every now and then, he may wear a brown cowboy hat and/or a brown leather vest. His hair is a hazel brown, which is semi slicked back, but with some pieces hanging. His facial hair is merely stubble. As far as mining goes, he's a good, solid worker. He's used to the conditions down almost every shaft, and has served as a foreman a few times. As a result, he's also useful when it comes to checking stability, and building houses. He's also known to be a good sketch artist; that is, if you can ever catch him drawing. You may also catch him at the tavern. Surprisingly, he holds alcohol very well. (Don't know Gun names, don't hate. xP.) Weapons: Mining Pick (To be expected), Fists, a worn, old Boomstick , and a standard 6-shot revolver with his name scratched into the barrel. |

Wally, your approved. Folks keep in mind that your not restricted to having only one character, and you may have more than one if you'd like. But, what I want to also point out that the reason I'm going to have so many characters is not only because I'm running it, but because a lot of them are going to be dying, leaving, etc. as we go along. So keep that in mind if you ever find this getting stale. |

Sorry I didn't post when I said I would Oz, was slightly busy, but here. ------ Name: Matthew Blackmoore (or just M. Blackmoore) Age: 38. Height: 6'0 Weight: 168.4 pounds. Race: Caucasian. Occupation: Federal Marshall. Matthew is relatively young for his occupation, taking care of what the sheriff can't. He has a personal retinue of sorts and a sizable office in Lamm. The best part about his job, in his mind, is being able to take on bigger undertakings and getting state-of-the-art (for the time... XD) weapons. Weapons: The weapons one can usually find on Matthew at ANY time (except sleeping) are a Colt M1911, two Colt Single Action Armies, one 1873 U.S. cavalry model revolver, a BAR, or Browning Automatic Rifle, and a Winchester M12 (Model 1912, with bayonet lug). He has a bag to carry the longer weapons, and all over his body he carries almost absurd numbers of ammunition for his weapons. The exception to this is his .45, of which he only has 3 clips. He only uses this in an emergency if he really must drop an enemy. |
