Background: This manga is part of a series of doujin based off the visual novel series that go by the same name (without the Onisarashi because that would be the name of the actual manga, the rest is just the series name). The whole series of visual novels and mangas and whatnot belong to the category of Murder-Mystery-OMGIPISSEDMYPANTS-Thriller-Drama-thing. Now one thing I don't get is the title. It's translation is "When the Cicadas Cry - Demon Exposing Chapter" (It's probably because I've never seen a real cicada, or don't know some lore connected to them). This manga adaptation is brought to us by En Kitou whose only works (as far as I and wikipedia know) are of this series.

Summary: In the summer of 1983, and the peaceful Hinamizawa village has been struck with plague and weird deaths and stuff of the sort and all the senile people are like" ZOMG IT'S THE WRATH OF OYASHIRO (they're god..or something)!!". But that's not where the story takes place. It surrounds a girl named Natsumi, a former resident of CrazyTown, and how her life is affected by the disaster taking place there. Everyone in the village has been killed by some Airborne Toxic Event (great band btw) and all the senior ex-residents of the place have gone crazy, including Natsumi's grandma, who're blaming this whole thing on Oyashiro-sama (jeez what'd he do them). Now here's where the gore starts :D .

My Opinion: I generally don't like these whatever-I-put-on-the-top novels/mangas, but this one kept attached to me...like STDs. The ending was....can't be explained lol. The only other ending that trumps this is the Clannad ending (I'll review it sometime soon). I really give this manga a 9.5/10, mainly because I'll never give a 10, unless it makes me jizz rainbows and happiness.

P.S. Sorry I haven't posted much, but I've been catching up with other anime, but I plan to review Vocaloids, some other anime, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 (I'm getting it sometime today or tomorrow)
