![]() Background: Elfen Lied means the Elves Song in German. Sorry but that’s about it. Oh also there are some pornographic scenes that may not be suitable for all ages. So there’s your warning. Don't come blaming me if your mom or dad doesn't like what your reading. Reason for Rating: First, the art work is great. The manga is well detailed and has a lot of interesting scenery and characters. The characters are all well placed with a complex (for most of the characters) past that all lend to the story line. The past of each characters adds a piece of the puzzle the other characters can't. To completely understand it you need to have all the parts. Often one characters past intertwines with another's without them knowing it. A good example would be how Yuka influenced Lucy's decisions. Or how what Lucy did in the past made Kouta forget a good part of his childhood around that age. The story line it self is pretty complicated but nothing that you shouldn't be able to follow. Its flow is nice and easy, and as long as you don’t skip around you will know exactly what is going on. Also some parts are etchi. Big time! But it can add to the comic relief or make a scene more dramatic. Generally its genre can be a slice of life, action, fantasy. It has all those concepts wrapped in there as main concepts and has some romance, comedy and other genre mixed in as secondary influences. It will just grab on to you after the first chapter or so. When I first read it I got hooked on immediately so I believe that you guys will too. (The ending is also very nice.) Critic's Note: I read the entire series of 107 chapters, containing anywhere between 20-40 pages each chapter, in one night. Its an addicting story and manga. Though the anime is much worse. I recommend the manga not the anime. |

I've only saw anime, does the manga end differently? If so, which would you say is better? |

The manga ends differently. They are both very different. I think the manga is much much better. The anime (when I review it) will probably get a 6/10. If not less. |

Well it never finished the story, and left many things unanswered, and Lucy's return is much more epic in the last book. Also thats not how she loses her horns and Mariko dosen't die that way. Lets say the manga is better.
