Holy shit, a serious topic on pxe. Holy shit, Beneta made it.

Just wondering what everyone's beliefs (or lack thereof) are.

Agnostic. Used to be very atheist and existential, but grew up.

Thinking of taking up Buddhism. I like the idea of people's beliefs being more rooted in personal values, ethics, and moral standing. Rather than religion, prayer and a god/lord figure to look up to, that's so ancient and backwards. Culture > religion.

I'm very much against religion in most regards, to be honest. It does a lot more damage than it does good. Sure, you see a lot of people who escape their dark past through religion, but the extremism in islamic states is far worse. Perhaps I'm stereotyping all for one religions injustices, but on the whole religions seemingly stifle freedom/humanity/culture in some way or another, for reasons that were relevant back then admittedly, but have no significance now. That's the main thing that bugs me, that some people follow the bible/koran/holy book literally, and don't consider that life was much more different 2000 years ago.

For that reason, I prefer to believe more in individualistic atheism, where one makes his or her destiny, sets his or her rules, and has his or her own set of moral conducts. Note that this is THEIR beliefs, they should not pressure anyone into believing what they do. If they are willing, there's nothing wrong with it, they may simply agree with them.

I don't deliver nudes cause I'm a faq D:<

I used to be incredibly Atheist, until I stumbled across a dusty old book in the library. Something called the Bible? Went on to read it and it talks about God creating Earth in 7 days, heaven and earth or whatever on the first day, and on the second, created light! (So incredibly did day 1 in the dark, fuck me). Then he made loads of other shit in the next few days and had a Sunday Roast on the 7th.

Even after reading this I was still a little skeptical, but then I heard another word for the Bible is actually the Gospel, so it is all true.

oh god please come on here to make me chuckle more often

I'm a Christian, but I find that I'm a lot more relaxed than other Christians and Catholics. I mean that I have more tolerance and understanding with other people's beliefs and won't hate someone if you believe in something different than I do.

Plus, Harold Camping is an idiot.

Fuck da police

My parents belong to a Unitarian Universalist congregation so I was brought up going to church there. Basically we believe in tolerance of all religions and our minister preaches about peace, individual values, happiness, etc. My parents encouraged (aka forced) me to engage in a program this past year during which I developed my own beliefs and discovered what I believe. Pretty much, I don't believe in a god or heaven or hell or life after death, but in fulfilling life based on one's own beliefs and personal values. When we die, we're dead, we're done, so we might as well live our one life to its fullest extent. Our life's fullest extent is defined as what we believe is our goal in life, whether it be living the best life we can so we can be reincarnated into a higher position in society, or whether it be worshiping God as well as we can in order to go to heaven, or anything else. As people, we have no obligation to make others believe what we do, but we should listen to others and what they have to say with an open mind and shape our beliefs according to the truth of what each of them say.

Somewhere between christian and agnostic theist.

Christian without a capital c, because either way I'm still asking myself questions and don't practice religiously (lol forced irony).

I'm a Christian, but like vee i'm not going to shove it down your throat, the main reason is that I have a hard time believing it myself because there is absolutely no solid proof that some one was created out of dust and then had a part of their ribs( i think?) take away and that made another human.

I'm a Baptised Catholic, but I don't really follow it.

At the end of the day, I we don't know what happens after death, so why waste time worrying about it? Get on with your life and do what you want.

That actually sounds EXACTLY like what my beliefs are :O Read my above post and compare.

Also Aether, sounds like you're dabbling into the agnostic side, tbh.
