But I still haven't been able to bring myself to watch any Robin Williams movies or even interviews. Like I just don't want it to be true, almost like the longer I can go without watching one, the longer I go without accepting or coming to terms with the fact that he's gone. |

It all depends on attachment I guess. I assume there would be a celebrity or actor that you've got an attachment too. For me though, Robin Williams was a huge influence on my humour and approach to life. I kind of adopted the why be sad when you can be happy and make others happy too. It's a cruel irony how he went, with that in mind. Maybe that's why I don't really want to. |

It was sort of a shock the moment it happened but after a few hours I wasn't bothered anymore, which I think is pretty normal considering he's a person I've never met. Oh and just to be clear, this isn't one of those "I'm sick of all these people posting about Robin Williams on Facebook OMG he's just a celebrity think of the African children you don't care about them smell my righteous arsehole" posts. I can understand perfectly why people would be affected deeply by this. I haven't watched any interviews yet because I haven't cared to look for any, but being the internet, every now and then you see a picture or a gif with some Robin Williams quote and you can tell he was just a great guy that suffered through something capable of driving him to suicide. It's sad because like him a lot of people may be going through something similar, and after seeing just how much attention he's received suicide seems like a more valid option. I say this because I know a girl that told me exactly that. She's been depressed for as long as I can remember. Not emo "My life is an endless spiral of infinite darkness depressed" but depressed despressed, and a downside to that is a bit of a need for attention. She mentioned how RW's suicide, despite what people may have told here, proves that when you die suddenly everyone loves you again. I don't know, I've heard a lot of attention seekers say similar things and it's annoying, but this time it hit home because she's a good friend and genuinely has some problems, but people seem to only focus on her wanting attention. So yeah, Benji, I think this is relevant because you say you're afraid the same might happen to you but, and this is jumping to a massive conclusion so I might be really wrong here, maybe there's some part of you that isn't afraid but actually wants to go out like that, just so people can see how miserable you really were inside. Some people, against their own will, glorify suicide in their imagination. A common trait is wanting to end up in an almost fatal accident just to see who would show up at the hospital and who cares. It's a horrible feeling, and it isn't suicide itself you're afraid off, but the fact you may be considering it as a viable option. If I'm even slightly right, that's a very dangerous path. Hopefully I'm wrong. |
