Our Eventual Death Is Near

"I am a horrible person, Yausha." he said. He slicked his hair back out of his eyes. "Come on, K-kill, stop being so depressed." Yausha said, kneeling beside him. "We have a job to do, and you're certainly not helping." "I don't like that name anymore." Knightkill said, snapping flames from his fingers. "Aw, come on, pyro." Yausha laughed, standing up. "Look at where we are. Once we walk down this cliff, we'll end up over by those hot springs... relaxing if you ask me." "Yeah, you're right... that's probably what I need. Time to relax." Knightkill said, clenching the dancing embers with into his fist. Knightkill stood up, brushing dirt from his dark mystic robes. The magical cloth fitted his body nicely, but the sleeves drooped off his arms and over his hands. He pulled his sleeves up to reveal his pale red hands. "I take it back... I HATE who I am." Knightkill snarled, his hands shaking. "Do you know how many souls I've claimed with these hands?" "Calm down, K-Kill." Yausha said, trying to comfort him. "Everything will be alright. Saradomin still loves you, he sees you no different, because you kill for what's right." "Killing at all is bad... you know there are actually people on this planet who don't kill AT ALL?" Knightkill argued, cursing at the sky. "Yes... but right now times are tough. We need to kill. Or at least, you do." Yausha said, hugging him from behind. She looked over his shoulder. "You're not gonna fail the mission, are you, honey?" Knightkill fell silent. The mission. He needed to help complete the mission. That was all that mattered. And this mission was part of a larger mission, a whole. That mission was why he lived on. "Let's go then." Knightkill said, setting her off. They began the hike down the mountain, following a dirt path created years before. They had to watch their step so they didn't trip on sticks or stones, and even had to jump a few logs before reaching the end. |

"K-kill... I think.... we're being followed." Yausha said with a worried look on her face. "Just the wolves. Don't worry, I'm continuously sending out a strong magic aura... they wouldn't dare come close." Knightkill reassured. Yausha took his hand and held it tightly. "Wolves?!" "If you're going to be the next Deadlast, you can't fear such meager creatures." Knightkill told her. "But wolves are scary." "No, wolves are beautiful creatures! They're not scary at all, nor evil." Knightkill laughed. "But if they get close they'll bite and eat us-" "But but but nothing!" Knightkill said. "As long as you're with me, they'll never hurt you." "You promise?" "I promise." Yausha was quite a bit younger than Knightkill. He wasn't sure how much younger, but she certainly hadn't had the many years of experience he had. Yausha was training her magic alongside Knightkill. She was hoping to become the next great magic warrior in the Deadlast Clan. Soon, if she could pass a few trial tests, she could earn herself the title of Deadlast and be paired up with a Knightkill and sent out on various assignments. It was a great honor. All her life she had trained for this, and soon, after she completed the current mission, she'd return to her homeland and complete the trials. |

The ground began to level out as they descended down the mountain. Soon the ground was flat and they began walking through forests. "We're almost there." Knightkill said. "That's good... are the wolves still following us?" Yausha worriedly asked. "No, they're not. They stay on the snowy mountains back there, that's their home." Knightkill explained. "Yay!" Yausha cheered, letting go of Knightkill's hand. "We safe now!" "We... were never in danger." Knightkill annoyingly muttered. |

"Yeah but I was really scared anyways." Yausha said, lightly hitting Knightkill's arm. "Youch, watch it girl!" Knightkill laughed, summoning a small flame out of his hand as a warning. "Cheater..." Yausha said, backing away a few steps. "Hey look, it's right over there!" A wooden lounge was built, elevated from the grassy ground by bamboo sticks. Steam emanated from the hot springs, filling the air with hot comforting moisture. "Oh! I can't wait! Being so close to it makes me realize how sore and tired I am! We've been walking for days!" Yausha cried happily. "Well I guess I know what you mean." Knightkill said, scratching his head. "I admit, I'm a bit tired too..." "Then a break it is!" Yausha said, running ahead. She ran down under the building and climbed up by ladder. Knightkill walked slowly towards it. He didn't feel like running. Then he heard a faint shriek. "Yausha!" Knightkill yelled, dashing to the house. |

As soon as Knightkill reached the ladder Yausha quickly jumped down. She looked frightened. "The mission is in there!" Yausha cried, grabbing Knightkill's arms and shaking him. "Keep it down." Knightkill said, touching his finger to her mouth. "We don't want him to try to escape." "Well what do we do?" Yausha asked. Dammit, I was really looking forward to this bath house, she cursed to herself. "Yausha, situations like these are very delicate. You just leave it to me." Knightkill said, winking at her. "Alright..." Yausha sighed. |

Knightkill told her to stay put, then quietly climbed up the ladder, peeking over the edge and down the hall. Through the bamboo doorway he could see an old man sitting calmly in a hot spring. He had a bit of weight on him, dragging his skin down, making it wrinkly and saggy. His eyes were almost covered by his puffy eyelids, but Knightkill saw his eyes. They were a bright yellow. The man licked his dry, puffy lips and scratched his belly (or at least, Knightkill hoped that was what he was scratching. The man's hand was submerged under the hot water). "He's the mission alright." Knightkill said, looking down at Yausha. "I'm going in." |

Knightkill lifted himself and his heavy robes over the ladder and onto the creaky floor. He was worried that the unstable tiles would make too much noise, but he realized the ambient sound of the bubbling hot springs was great enough to mask his movement. "Excuse me sir, would you like to buy a ticket to use the hot springs?" a short gnome man asked. "It's only 200 gold pieces for three hours!" "That's a bit expensive..." Knightkill said, startled but still trying to keep hush. "Well, you look quite tired yourself, these hot springs are guaranteed relaxation at it's finest! You'll feel better in no time!" the gnome enthusiastically said. Knightkill sighed. He couldn't make it past the gnome without paying. Next time, he thought, I'll try sneaking through the back door. "Fine. I'll pay." Knightkill said, pulling out a bank note from under his robes. He took a small pen the gnome handed him and wrote out 200 gold, handing the gnome the money. "Thank you sir, might I lead you to the dressing rooms where you can get a towel and leave your stuff?" the gnome asked. "Uh... do you think it'd be alright if I maybe took a look around first? Tested the water? I just wanna check things out." Knightkill requested. AARRGH WHY DIDN'T I ASK THAT BEFORE?! "Yes sir, just give me a holler if you need anything. Here's a key to your locker." the gnome said, handing Knightkill a small key on a keyring with the number 23 carved out onto an attached piece of wood. "Number 23?" Knightkill asked. "That's your locker. It's down the hall, that way." the gnome said, pointing left. "I'll be in the office area, that way." he said, pointing right. "Alright... thanks." Knightkill said, making his way past the gnome. "Thank you!" the gnome said. Finally rid of him... Knightkill sighed to himself, walking around the gnome. Uh oh. The mission man was gone. Knightkill was stunned. He'd let that annoying gnome get in his way. "DAMN." Knightkill screamed. "What's wrong sir?!" the gnome hurriedly asked, running to the seen as fast as he could. "You." Knightkill said. His eyes began to glow red, and his face became plagued with anger. He took the gnome by the neck and strangled it. "URK! STOP! I CAN'T-" "You made me distracted. You shall die for that." Knightkill said, heating up his hands with his fire magic. "HO-...T.... - URK..." the gnome choked, struggling to break free. - - - - - - To build suspense, please wait four or five minutes before reading next post! LOL, just experimenting. |

- - - - - Ok Now! Yausha leaped into action. "KNIGHTKILL!" she screamed, attacking his arm with a flurry of weak punches. "He doesn't deserve it!" "BACK OFF, HUMAN." Knightkill hissed in a strangely demonic and loud voice. "K-kill, calm down. This isn't you! Don't let your temper control yourself!" Yausha screamed, trying to calm him down. Knightkill's nostrils were blazing. He began to think about what his companion had said though and realized that he was overreacting. "I'm... I'm sorry..." Knightkill said, gently setting down the gnome who fell over, choking to catch his breath. "Ya damned fool! Get out of here!" the gnome coughed out, rubbing his aching neck. "And never return!" "I'm very sorry..." Knightkill said, ashamed. "Let's go..." Yausha said, taking his arm. She led him the few steps away to the ladder and allowed him to climb down first, then she followed. |

Knightkill sat down against one of the supports. "What were you thinking!?" Yausha scolded him. "LEAVE. ME. ALONE." Knightkill shouted, rubbing his temples. Yausha let out a small squeak. "WHA- Oh..." Knightkill looked up at Yausha, who was standing over him. She looked as though she'd burst into tears at any moment. And she did. "I'm so sorry... come here." Knightkill said, hugging her tightly. "I didn't mean to lose control like that." "You almost killed him, and he wasn't the mission!" she cried, leaning her head into his chest. "Please stop crying... it hurts me..." Knightkill pleaded, brushing his hand over her hair. "You hurt me too..." Yausha whispered. |

Knightkill waited for Yausha to ease up a little. "That's why I hate being who I am..." "Shutup." Yausha said. She wiped the dry tears from her face, and sniffed. Then she took on a more stern persona again. "It was your choice to freak out." Knightkill knew he'd get no where by arguing with her. "I'm really sorry..." "Me too. I was REALLY looking forward to a bath." Yausha said. Knightkill smiled. "Ha, is that why you're so mad?" Yausha smirked. Then turned around. "Hmph." "Yeesh." Knightkill chuckled, standing up. He followed her back down the path. They were now on the road to Seer's Village. |

As they were walking down the road, Yausha asked Knightkill even more questions. "Now that he knows that we're after him, how are we gonna catch him?" she asked. "You're the one catching his scent... just don't loose it." Knightkill stressed. "But it's so faint... and hard to track..." Yausha said, sniffing the air every few seconds. A few travelers passed them, walking in the opposite direction. "It sucks that he chose such a busy road to go down... I can't track his footprints." Yausha said, kicking up dirt. She sniffed the air again. "I think we're catching up though. He's definitely at Seer's." "Well than let's get a move on then... quit dragging your feet." Knightkill said, grabbing her hand. He started walking faster. |

"Hmmm... what's this?" Knightkill asked himself, stopping. "Look down there a ways. That castle wasn't always there was it?" Yausha thought for a moment. "Eh. That's odd. Must be new!" "No, Yausha, it takes a long time for a castle like that to be built. And I was here just a little while ago." Knightkill told here. "Let's go see it then!" Yausha said, running ahead. Before Knightkill could answer he realized she had ran quickly ahead, leaving him in her dust. "Oh, ok." |

Yausha came running down the hill, nearing the gates to this strange foreign castle, then stopped. Purple clouds of smoke repeatedly blasted in and out near the gates. "Teleporters!" Yausha said. "Knightkill!" "Yes, if we are in the same place as they are when they teleport, we'll implode." Knightkill said. "But I wanna go see the castle!" Yausha said. They watched a the purple clouds flash over and over for a few seconds. "Excuse me..." a stern, old voice said from behind them. "Who?" Knightkill said, spinning around. "You're looking to enter our castle." he said. "I sense a great magical aura emanating from you both." Knightkill took a few steps back. The old man was shaded from the sunlight, standing under a tall oak tree. "My name is Merlin, I can show you inside if you'd like." Yausha and Knightkill looked at eachother. Exchanging thoughts with a quick glance, they both simultaneously said "Let's do it." ~END~ |
