From a glorius vacation up in the north country, revitalised and feeling good. And also with a new computer. No more Windows ME for this kid. I'm now in XP territory.
The trip to Isle Royale in Lake Superior was a real adventure. It included a seven and a half hour boatride, and a stay at the Rock Harbor Lodge for 3 nights. Good food, good exersize, and fun people made for a great trip.
Top it off with a 6 hour boatride back to the mainland, and a long ride home. Lightning fried my computer, but I was due for a new one. A lady built it for me for under 300 bucks.
So...what did I miss? Anything happen?

XP was about six years ago...everything is Vista now (though I wouldn't bother for a few years, or whenever you get your next computer).

Glad you didn't drown! Did you stay clear of the floods?

For some reason or other, she was not too keen on Vista...recommended XP. I like it.
As for the floods, up north we cannot buy a drop of rain. It is dry as a popcorn fart outside. Old Smokey the Bear is saying it is extremely dangerous for fire. You are not even allowed to light a grill, for fear that you'll ignite a forest fire.

Mac OSX is where all the cool kids (and Ali) are at

Vista is very poor. Did my months of Beta testing not tell you anything?!

How the hell you can build a machine for under 300 bucks is beyond me! You could have had my Windows machine for that!

All you missed was alot of spam, me being quiet for a change, and Beth appearing on the new Annie Lennox album
Went to the JobCentre today, and the Army were there going "Be the Best" ... now T-Mobile just told me I didn't have the qualifications to sell phones, Microsoft said I didn't have the qualifications to answer the phones, and the Army want to let me loose with a machine gun?

Sorry Rob. I replied in a differant forum. Glad you had a good time in my state. Alaska was a rush. Got a lot of fish. If you go hungry in Alaska ,you are either stupid or a vegetarian. Saw beluga whales, sea lions, sea otters, a moose in downtown Anchorage, lots of eagles, no bears. God what a strange place. Ok, call you some weekend.

Glad you got to get to Alaska, Scott. For all the others, it is the trip of a lifetime. I recommend it to anyone who is the least bit adventuresome. It will change you.
The thing that struck me the most about the place was the people. They are tougher than hell. I met a woman up there whose husband had a bad heart and had to stay inside. She kept her battery of her car in the house so that when she got up in the morning it would start. That's because it was -50F outside! They heated their cabin with wood, and couldn't get it any warmer than +35 inside!
Which reminds me...it is only 40 outside here in the northwoods. Winter is on its way, and it comes on quickly up here.
