Indeed. Shipyard work is rugged and dangerous. My very first job was roofing houses...extremely tough work. I was employed to carry 90 lb bundles of shingles up a ladder and place them on the roof. It was grueling work. Not only was it hot and dirty, there was always the danger of falling offf the ladder...not to mention the occasional nest of hornets we would rouse up.
To make matters worse, the boss insisted on paying us with cash, so as not to have to report earnings to the IRS. His name was Shorty, and he was a drunken prick. If you wanted him, he was located in the seediest bar in town.
After roofing houses for a time I developed a respect for laborers of all kinds. It is a helluva way to make a living.

Ok, well i got this job working in an asylum a few months ago, working for horrible money but with the promise of full time work. Anyway a full time position became available and they didn't give it to me, they said you need to prove to us that we should give you the job. It really pissed me off cause i had done everything they'd asked of me, so i applied for a job with a public hospital (much better money) and i got it, today i had the pleasure of telling my boss that i couldn't do a shift for him cause I've got this other job. Oh god it was so good to screw him over in return!!!!

if i can sort myself out for three shifts a week at the hospital i can give that bastard my notice.

Went to the JobCentre today, and the Army were there going "Be the Best" ... now T-Mobile just told me I didn't have the qualifications to sell phones, Microsoft said I didn't have the qualifications to answer the phones, and the Army want to let me loose with a machine gun?

yeah that thing about the english guy selling his life made the news here tonight.

the hospital job should be good, its proper security work, the asylum job is about generating paper work and making sure your shirt is ironed and your tie is on. really not a good fit for me, i'm never going to be a show pony, i have too much substance.
