...and wish you hadn't?

i'm now at the end of day 3 of what started of as a simple changing of a immersion element on my hot water tank, which then led to me pinching a small hole in the tank, which means both water systems have to be drained and a new tank fitted, which althought the right tank hasn't come with the right connectors

all this to save paying £200 for someone to do the simple job in the first place, besides that having a great week off work :huh2:

Well, that's taken 3 days ... I went to Manchester for 2 years, and regretted it!

I've done plenty of things work-wise I wish I hadn't, as it was supposed to make people's lives easier, and ended up making mine a whole crapload worse!

Live and learn .... don't do anything for anyone, unless they ask for it (or you actually like them.)
Went to the JobCentre today, and the Army were there going "Be the Best" ... now T-Mobile just told me I didn't have the qualifications to sell phones, Microsoft said I didn't have the qualifications to answer the phones, and the Army want to let me loose with a machine gun?

Yo Simon, It's probably too late now, but next time look into a tankless hot water heater. I just saw a commercial for a new innovative model that heats only the water you want to use.
Don't ask me how it works, but it gives hot water on demand and you never run out. Also, the product is a fraction of the size of a conventional 40 gallon hot water heater.
I probably will not need a new one for a few years, but you can bet that I will research it well enough to know what I want when the time comes.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy.

Yeah, come to think of it, we don't have a hot water tank, we have a combi boiler. Had one for years, after converting from a tank!

I just got an email from my friend Russ, who works for Bosch Corp. He is in automotive, but turned me on to a valuable link.
http://www.boschhotwater.com/

These things work on the same premise as a coffee maker. The cold water goes in, the hot water comes out. They last for 20 years, and the demand for hot water is always met.

I think tankless-water heaters are already pretty common, if not the norm, in Britain and Europe. At least I remember seeing them in the hotels and the couple of private homes I stayed in over there. I checked them out a couple of years ago and they were very expensive---some multiple like 3 or 4x what you pay for a tank, though as they become more common I'm sure they will come down in price.

My friend Russ says you can buy a reconditioned one for $500. They come with a 12 year warranty as well. I can't see a reason not to buy one.

Nothing like being a home owner. There is always something to do. Housework and honeydo projects just never end.
